I collect Martins' from the F and GT series. The F-55 got me started. I bought mine new in 1970 from Robbies Music on Route 46 in NJ. I paid $350. I loved it and have played all kinds of music with it in clubs. In very recent years I aquired a F-50 for $1000.00, a F-65 for $950.00 (no bigsby, no pickguard), a GT-70 with Bigsby for $1500.00, a GT-75 for $800.00 (no bigsby,no metal backplate) and a strange GT-75 with a headstock that may have been meant to be a 12 string (only 3 made) for $1100.00. The F-55 & 65's came with a clear plastic bridge. Mine broke after only a few months. I have yet to see any with the original bridge. I have recently found a F-65 with bigsby selling for $2195.00 and a GT-70 with bigsby for $2295.00. If your F-55 is in good shape it is probably worth between $1500.00 and $2500.00. I think these are going to be discovered by collectors and the price will go UPPPPPPP. If you still have it email me a photo. If you would like to see what mine look like I'll send a jpg your way.
