The Loar LH-280 Archtop

Loar introduces the LH-280, an affordable archtop electric guitar based on classic hollow body jazzbox designs.

The Loar LH-280

This guitar comes with a familiar looking Florentine cutaway body, finished either in black for a tuxedo look, or in vintage sunburst.

The guitar's hollow body features a maple top, paired with maple back and sides. It's shape mimics the curves of vintage archtop guitars, measuring 16” at the lower bout and 11.5" at the upper bout. Traditional F holes are also present to emphasize the guitar's aesthetic and sonic characteristics.

The neck of this hollow body guitar is carved from mahogany and follows a vintage C profile. Its rosewood fretboard has 19 frets, having a scale length of 24.75". Both the body and the rosewood fretboard are bound by an ivory binding to emphasize the guitar's classic shape and to serve as contrast to its finish.

The guitar comes equipped with dual humbuckers, designed by The Loar to mimic classic archtop sounds. A traditional 3-way pickup selector is also included, along with independent volume and tone knobs for each pickup.

In keeping with its vintage vibe, the headstock sports a set of Grover Butterbean tuners. The other end of the strings are handled by a floating tune-o-matic bridge.

The Loar describes the LH-280 as being versatile, having a hollow body it is easily capable of handling jazz, blues and even rock genres. The Loar LH-280 has a street price of $499.99, which makes the instrument even more interesting, especially for those that want to try their hands at a hollow body electric guitar without having to spend too much.
