Ibanez AT10P

Ibanez releases a video of Andy Timmons showcasing the AT10P, an affordable version of his Prestige AT100CL Signature Model.

This artist approved instrument is part of Ibanez' Premium line of guitars, which are made in Indonesia.

In introducing the guitar, Andy admits that although his high-end AT100CL signature was received well, some were commenting that the price tag is a bit too high. And so Ibanez offered to make a more affordable version of the instrument that will still meet Andy's quality requirements. The result is the AT10P, a guitar that looks and plays very much like the original, at half the price.

The guitar starts out with the same alder RG shape body that is connected to a bolt-on maple neck. The neck follows the original's AT Prestige shape, having a scale length of 25.5" and a nut width of 1.693". The fretboard is also made from maple, featuring 22 jumbo frets and dressed fret edges.

Surprisingly, the guitar features the same set of HSS configuration pickups. Two DiMarzio Cruiser Bridge single-coil-sized humbuckers are placed on the neck and middle positions, while Timmon's signature DiMarzio AT-1 humbucker pickup handles the bridge position. This allows the guitar to sound virtually indistinguishable from the high-end model. The guitar also comes with a 5-way pickup selector, a main volume knob, a neck & middle pickup tone knob, and a tone knob dedicated to the bridge pickup.

There are only two main differences between the high-end model and the AT10P, the tuners and the bridge. On the AT10P, Ibanez opted for a Wilkinson WV6-SB vibrato bridge which leans more towards vintage looks and performance, compared to the more modern bridge found on the AT100CL.

The Ibanez AT10P Andy Timmons Signature is currently retailing for around $1,300. Visit Ibanez for more information.
