This new pedal is based on the same compression and limiter technology that the company used on the Bass Limiting Amplifier Pedal.
The GC-2 Limiting Amplifier Compressor is designed to perform like studio rack-type compressor effects but in a compact stomp box format. Keeley built the pedal around the exotic and high fidelity compressor "THAT Corp. 4320", using Voltage Controlled Amplifiers, on board true-RMS detector, and op-amps that are tweaked to the company's specifications.
According to the official description, this compressor allows for precise control and come with a full frequency range, much like studio compressor boxes. This means that aside from your guitar, you can use the GC-2 Limiting Amplifier with keyboards, drum machines and other instruments. They say that the GC-2 is different from their other compressor effect pedals, as it provides improved transparency and operates with very minimal noise. With a bandwidth of over 20 KHz, Keeley assures that "No detail in your guitar's tone will be lost."
Keeley Electronics founder and chief engineer Robert Keeley said, "Using a feed forward design, advanced Blackmer Gain Cell VCAs and True-RMS detection coupled with ultra low noise op-amps we feel we have created a top-flight studio grade compressor for acoustic and electric guitars. I started using the THAT Corp. products back in 2007 and instantly fell in love with their transparent and ultra-precise chips. We actually sent one of our new compressors to THAT Corp for evaluation and they ran it through the paces saying it was a fantastic compressor and fun to play!"

This pedal comes with a simple set of controls that let you adjust Compression, Threshold and Gain. Set Compression knob lower for subtle compression or tweak it all the way down for no (1:1) compression and use then use the Gain control as a boost! You can also use the GC-2 as a limiting amplifier by setting the compression all the up for an above-Threshold hard-knee limiter, this will help save your speakers from clipping and distortion. A Threshold Indicator light is also provided so you can visually monitor the level of compression.
The GC-2 Limiting Amplifier is hand-built in the Keeley Electronic's USA facility, and is housed in a powder-coated rugged enclosure. As expected, the pedal comes with true bypass switching.
The Keeley Electronics GC-2 Limiting Amplifier is now selling for $199. Visit Robert Keeley for the complete specifications and other details.
