Crossroads Guitar Festival 2013 DVD

Relive the best performances of Crossroads Guitar Festival 2013 with the recently released DVD, CD and Blu-Ray sets.

NAME

This release features highlights of the fourth incarnation of the “Crossroads Guitar Festival”, with performances by Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, Keith Richards, Derek Trucks, John Mayer, Keith Urban, Robert Cray, Vince Gill, Gary Clark Jr., Los Lobos and many more.

This guitar festival started in 2004 and has continued to be held every three years. It has the reputation of bringing in some the best players in the blues and rock arena, featuring a wide variety of artists – from established veterans to modern day stars.

Aside from enjoying great guitar music, the festival was actually started by Clapton to raise funds for Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a treatment and education facility founded by Eric Clapton in 1998 to help people suffering from chemical dependency.

As expected, Eric Clapton is prominently featured throughout the show, performing his classic hits and jamming along with other musicians like the Allman Brothers Band. The other big name artists that headlined the festival followed suit with impressive performances of hit songs and blues classics.

The festival also had other equally interesting collaborations, including a cover of The Beatles’ “Don’t Let Me Down” bby Keith Urban and John Mayer. Other notable team-ups include Taj Mahal and Keb Mo’s cover of Sleepy John Estes’ “Diving Duck Blues”, Vince Gill and Clapton’s “Lay Down Sally”, and the haunting acoustic cover of Neil Young’s “The Needle and the Damage Done” by Urban, Albert Lee and the Allman Brothers Band.

The DVD and Blu-Ray (two-disc sets) feature 45 tracks that translate to nearly five hours of music. It also includes conversations with the artists as well as some behind-the-scenes footage from the event. Unique to this year’s release, Crossroads Guitar Festival is going to be released as a CD set or as digital Mp3 downloads that feature 29 tracks, this is a first for the festival.
