Michael Hedges began playing guitar and flute as a young man. He attended Phillips University in his hometown of Enid, Oklahoma, where he studied classical guitar and composition. He continued his studies at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and Stanford in California and there developed his interest in electronic music. He was heard there by Will Ackerman of Windham Hill records and was soon recording for the label. Michael’s first release was Breakfast in the Fields followed by Aerial Boundaries – nominated for a Grammy in 1984.
Hedges appeared on the cover of every major guitar magazine and won the Guitar Player Magazine award for best acoustic guitarist numerous times.
He abandoned instrumental guitar for a period to perform his own vocal tunes and covers but soon returned to instrumental music.
Michael died in a car accident in December 1997.

Never in the history of music has there ever been such a fantastic voice like His. I think you know who I’m talking about. He came like a commet out of the sky. But, never to return to this messy world again. He ruled in His profession. He was the closest thing next to a super hero. Just as God or some kind of supreme being made you and I, He also was made and created (out of Gods’ own art), a man like no other. He was so precious that nobody could reach Him. The highest acheiver in the universe of not just music, but in kindness, extremely attractive, and pleasing to all. If God ever wanted to show off His artistic ability, He did it through a man with only God given talent. This man should not be rated and judged like the rest are. No. Infact this man is better than that. Do you want to be rated and judged? No. I did’nt think so. He gave this world a very special treat like no other could do. The way He did his music, He could have done anything good. He was so delightful, that the rest of the world got hooked, and could’nt get enough of Him. The world demanded so much of Him, that He just could not keep up with millions upon millions of people’s disires and wishes. He came just as fast as He went. I think the world murderd Him. He was an over-night success. He was so powerful in His carrier industry, that we so quickly decided to keep Him in our heart of hearts, and with a name so rare. There is only one name that could knock the rest of us down. His name forever shall be ELVIS.
