He studied Classical guitar with Demetrio Ballesteros at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Madrid, Spain where he graduated in 1979 with Honors. This award was given to him by a jury that included guitarist Narciso Yepes among its members. That same year he made his New York City Classical Guitar debut Concert at Carnegie Recital Hall. Peter G. Davies from the New York Times wrote after his presentation : “A Performer of considerable sensitivity and sensibility…..a thoughtful and serious musician”.
