hey got hold of solid air album recently and fell in love with it and a perticular track called the easy blues anyone know where i can get the tab i found a bloke on youtube johni2bad on youtube playing it and it seems right but i still think theres little bits here and there missing need help badly any help would be appreciated, even a tab book i can buy from somewhere with that track in it would be good as i cant find any john martyn tab books at all, cheers, Ryan.
Listening to Easy Blues when I was 18 changed the way I listen to, and play, acoustic guitar forever.
Since then, 36 years ago now, I have explored and learned a LOT.
– JM, obviously, but also, Bert Jansch, Michael Hedges, Preston Reed, … and fun stuff from others such as Suzanne Vega.
BUT, I’ve never been able to get hold of the Tab for Easy Blues.
Now I have MS, and am not-so-slowly losing accuracy and speed in my left hand … does ANYONE have the Easy Blues tab so I can get my fingers around it before I lose the chance?

Does anyone know what happened to Paul Richardson? He made a couple of acoustic guitars for John Martyn back in the 80’s. He comes from Lincoln, Lincolnshire & then moved to Brighton for a while. Thanks Rob
Yeah. I am sorry to say that Paul Richardson died in a motorcycle accident around 2009.
A sad loss to our world.

OK, So it took me 21 years to realise that London Conversation was the greatest ever album, and he was only 20 when he recorded it..can that be right!

I thought I would get some tab on John Martyn from this site. Either I cannot work it properly orI am barking up the wrong tree. Could the person responsable please respond inorder to relieve my disapointment or at least remind me that I am too drunk to operate the keyboard.

Yes! I can do it for you – how quickly depends on how much detail you want. You’ve probably discovered by now that you need to drop the low e-string to d, and use D, G, G6/B and A chords (in fact, I think John used to have the whole bat tuned two tones lower and capo at the 4th fret – this helps to get the full percussion effect out). If you still want me to transcribe it, I’m more than happy to.

It is on olga but it is an Eric Clapton cover so search by title or by eric

I don’t have the tab (it is after all a stylized JM song), but I can point you in the right direction.
Tune to drop D and cappo on the 2nd fret. Use an "A" cord to begin, then a "D" cord. Then just get your fingers moving. The fingering is tough, so I don’t suggest trying to be a purist about it. Just surf the neck and find the notes and chords that feel right to you.

I never knew there were so many people like me interested in folk guitar.
I’d love to say I have the tab but I don’t. That’s the problem with folk it’s so difficult and they all use such strange tunings it’s nearly impossible to work out the stuff.
