Stolen during a move from Ridgewood, NY to Cincinnati. Was packed up with the rest of my guitars the last time I saw it. I wasn’t there when it was put on the truck, so I don’t know if it even made it on the truck for sure. It was black/white pickguard with a maple neck and fingerboard. The neck has a spot approximately1/4″ by 2″ that was horribly routed up by the 12th fret area just behind the fingerboard. Reward for info on it’s whereabouts, no questions asked. It was my first guitar and I would like to get it back.

      2. Found a Gibson
        Found Your Guitar

Well after midnight on a summer night of June 2007 — a guitar fell out of the back window of a SUV that was headed toward the Williamsburg bridge. Noone returned to retrieve it. I posted lost and found signs, asked the local bars if anyone called to say they lost their instrument, and contacted the bands whose stickers were on the guitar case. No luck. I’ve moved twice since and set it in the back of my closet.

        Dan Lionberger

Saw a picture of one online, they are very, very similar to the unlabeled guitar I inherited from my grandfather and father. My grandfather died when my father was a baby, in 1925, so know nothing of its history. Research points to it being an Oscar Schmidt or Lyon-Healy from near the turn of the century, i.e., c.1900. Or, possibly, a generic catalog version probably produced by one of the above companies for Sears-Roebuck or Montgomery Ward, and, perhaps, other companies such as ‘Raymond’. Ironically, my grandfather’s name was Raymond. I wonder…

I bought my Global 401DN Accustic Guitar at Lackland AFB, Texas PX for $20 in November 1969. The other day I cleaned out My sisters Garage and there it was, With 4 origional strings and still, a High Bridge. She is blond faced wraped in red wood. The Head is two slot cut and red wood color, with Gold Glodal logo in old english. Inside port is the round paper Global logo. She came back 40 years later, maybe she is looking for a new set of strings?

    2. Re: Looking for Global Guitar Co.
      dannyleemathis

i just bought a Global SG/EB3 type bass off Ebay.
Paid 220.00 and know it’s worth that or more.
i’ve seen this Global model 495 B go for 350.00 before the one i bought.
i also play a Kay KB2 and it blows the Kay away
      in sound & craftmansship.
It has an "Ebony" fretboard, not rosewood.
Something you normally only see on a ’67-68 Gibson
SG guitars (Standards: Rosewood -Customs: Ebony) .
Nice bound work, very strong mini humbucker.
i’ve read "somewhere" (and it’s gone now)
Ibanez made most of these Globals
then shipped them to Chicago and were
      stamped by Global.
Global was just the retailers brand.
i think they were made AFTER the lawsuit models.
No country of orign stamps anywhere on my model.
Which tells me they were slightly altered
(no book seam in Gibson type headstock)
to get them in the US after the lawsuits.
It still has the foil 495B sticker on headstock.
It was made with solid mahogany neck & mahogany laminents
body and it’s thicker than the Kay’s body.
Deeper heel pocket for awesome sustain!
i think they’re better than the Epip copys.
And these aren’t Neck Heavy like the Gibsons or Epipies.

      What’s it’s worth to me?
It’s worth more than an New Epip Eb copy.
And the fretboard won’t bust out from the neck
like the Indo Epips commonly do.

Why buy a vintage Gibson when they go for less
than a brand new one did?
The Gibson SG basses did not hold their value.
Ex: Vintage 68 Gibby SG Bass sold yesterday for only 820.00.
A brand new 2008 RI SG will cost you 1399.00
      That’s very sad to me.
It looks like , to me, it should be the other way around.

This Global 495B is bringing more than they did when they were new.
Gibson’s Nor Epipies gain in value.
They actually go down in value.

      Experience: Thirty Year Bass hack.
Have played many major & offshoot brands.
i like the offshoot vintage Asian basses by far!
They seemed to care more about quality
back in the 70s than the USA companys did.

      So ya like Globals?
      Then you have good taste!

I just had my Global stolen from my car, left it in over night. stupid. Do you know if those pickups were the same as the Gibson models?

    3. Re: Looking for Global Guitar Co.
      Mark

I have a classical Global guitar, stickers on the back say it’s made in Korea and it has the number 705.

This was my first guitar, and I still love playing it, even though I’m a bit out of control and have a selection of Martins and Ovations.

I got this guitar for Christmas in 1978 when I was in college. I believe it cost about $100 without a case.

I found this post on the internet because I was searching to see if the company was still in business. This is a much higher quality guitar than other cheap guitars for sale today. It’s all natural color wood, no paint, and the sound quality is pretty good. I have a little bit of raising on the back of the bridge, and I’m just today in the process of replacing the tuners.

This guitar is not my favorite, but it’s the one I love the most. I can provide pix if you’re still interested.

      1. Re: Looking for Global Guitar Co.
        Kris Riggio

Mine says made in Korea, number 405. the tuner hardware looks elaborate, but could be crap for all I know.

        I found this on AllExperts.com:

"Global was a brand name used by an importer in Chicago of cheaply-made instruments from a variety of sources in Asia in the 1960s and 1970s (and maybe later). Even if in perfect condition, it’s probably not worth more than around $50. Without seeing it or having a better description or photos, I can’t tell you much more than that."

But who knows. Are they really ALL EXPERTS? teehee.

        1. Re: Looking for Global Guitar Co.
          Liz J

I found an old Global in a shed of one of the houses i used to rent. I really want to fix it up even though i know its cheap it seems to have some charactor. does anyone know how there acoustics sound? Its in really good condition but the tuners probably could use a replacing. It even has some mother of pearl in it.

    4. Re: Looking for Global Guitar Co.
      James

I just got one from my cousin, given to him by his Dad, gotten from Heavan knows where….
The reason I have it and so on… is that the Bridge has pulled from the body of the guitar. I am not sure it is worth repair… but plan to look into it.

I purchased mine in 1990 for $60.00. It’s a full size classical guitar, and on the back it has two gold colored stickers. One says "Made In Korea" and the other is just a number. Based on the fact it’s made in Asia, I doubt that it’s worth more than the $60 I paid for it to begin with. But it’s a good guitar none the less.

don’t know about the global , but the sorento is a japanese made epiphone course all gibson and epiphone were made there for awhile, found one on google worth about $379 in excellent condition , says they had bad necks and were used for slide guitars alot , but some were actually made higher end

I just bought one from a garage sale for 40$. It’s not bad, but it’s pretty much a Les Paul knockoff. I’m also having trouble with finding a cable that fits.

    7. Still have my global guitar from 70's
      Darvin

I have a Global guitar that I purchased new from a Sears Catalog some time in the mid 70’s. It is Red with sunburst front. It has a black pickguard with red roses and a white dove. The bridge has screws that raise and lower the strings. Paid around $89.99 new with package including the hard case. Still plays good just a little hard on the upper frets. Also the Bridge has raised a little in the back.

I bought a very old but decent condition Global Hummingbird guitar and want to know if anyone else that has one can tell me – is it supposed to use steel or nylon strings? Mine was made in Korea and appears more than 30 yrs old.

Hi Luke. I have one of the Global Hummingbirds, which is about 30 years old now and mint. After doing some research, I discovered that Gibson actually made these guitars for a short time, I believe before epiphone. The sound is exceptional. They did a nice job. If you look at the current Gibson Hummingbird accoustic pic gaurd, and compare it to the Global Hummingbird, they are identical. This was how I found Gibson. You can find some references to them on the Gibson web site. They also made Global electrics.

        Hope this helps.

My comment is quite late but here is some information. The guitar you described is older than 30 years. Gibson had bought rights and was making Hummingbird guitars before 1960 so your Global guitar was made before then. Global was not subsequently made by the other companies that you listed. Instead, Global made all of those brands at their factories.

        Dear Lauren,

Global was a brand name used by an importer in Chicago of cheaply-made instruments from a variety of sources in Asia in the 1960s and 1970s (and maybe later). Even if in perfect condition, it’s probably not worth more than around $50. Without seeing it or having a better description or photos, I can’t tell you much more than that.

        Hope this helps,

Just found an acoustic guitar in the dumpster out back. Has the same info as above ie, Global Instrument Company. I wonder if this was just manufactured for something like Woolworth’s department store and they just did it for them.
Sorry, no information. The guitar is alot smaller and has the number "4001" on the back.

        gene

I have a GLOBAL small guitar that I use as a tenor guitar. It has a pretty good sound/ring to it. It has the GLOBAL paper circle under the sound hole and says ” manufactured by sorento, nola, bolero, sonata, and torino.” What do those terms or names mean? Perhaps towns or models? I saw your message and thougt I would reply.

      2. What a load of misinformation! Either this is meant to be a joke, or this review was written by a 13 year old who never played a bass guitar before. I had a Global EB-3 copy back in ’83. It was my first bass… It was total crap… If you paid more than 50 bucks for it, you got took. This Japanese toy is nowhere close to the quality of modern EPIPHONES. Comparing this bass to a GIBSON EB-3/SG is just delusional. The body is made of PLYWOOD, the neck is low-grade mahogany (the neck on mine was unstable and the truss rod was useless). Obviously, you don’t know what Ebony looks like, because that’s NOT what your fretboard is made of. The hardware is junk, and the pickups and electronics are cheap garbage. Whoever told you that these were made by Ibanez, just wanted to soak you for $220.

These basses are wall-decorations at best.

They were ALL MADE IN KOREA. I have an SG copy probably 1975 with a REAL Bigsby on it. Not a great guitar by any means but certainly worth 200.00. They also went by the Lyle brand etc. 250.00 may be on the very end but still a cool lil wall hanger.

This Baker USA B1 #064 guitar was stolen from my house in Vancouver Washington. My house was broken into and ran-sacked. The guitar has a natural clear finish over a AAAAA figured maple top with black binding. The body back is one piece mahogany. Three piece mahogany neck mahogany with a figured maple strip in the middle. Ebony fingerboard with figured maple binding. Black hardware. Two humbucker Seymour Duncan pickups. Sperzel tuners. Buzz Feiton tuned. Only two abalone inlays on the twelfth fret. One volume knob and one three way chrome switch. This was one of two guitars stolen. The other guitar was a Fender Telecaster which I recovered from Briz Loans Pawn shop in Vancouver. The person responsible for pawning the Tele is Anthony Gibson Miller. "Tony" or "T-Mosh" has a criminal history of Theft and Methanphetomine possession. He currently has a warrent out for his arrest and is on the run. He does not live in one place. He roams from house to house amongst his friends in the Portland, OR. Vancouver, WA. area. I am offering a cash award for his capture/arrest and safe return of my of my Baker #064.

Is this some kind of joke to you? Are you doing this to just tease & mentally torture me by flaunting that you know where my stuff is? Or maybe you bought my Baker knowing it’s stolen and you don’t want to let it go now? Or maybe you’re afraid of getting caught?
None of that matters to me. I just want my belongs back. I am not a rich man. I am laid off. I have little children to feed. These instruments could sustain my family right now. My whole life was turned upside down.
It is obvious to me by your questioning that you know the whereabouts to at least two of my guitars. Most likely more. I have cooperated with your interrogation & have answered your questions. I know the temptation to keep my belongs for yourself or to profit from by selling them is real. For all I know you could be apart of an underground crime/theft syndicate that steals hard earned material possessions from innocent people thinking that you’ll get rich or to support your drug habit.

Just do what is right & return my stuff.

Email me & I will give you my number. We can meet in Vancouver somewhere.

I don’t want to give out my ph# on this public thread. I can send you photos of the guitar(s) as proof that the Baker & any others are mine. Please, please be a good person. I sincerely would love to get my stuff back. Please read through this thread. I have answered all your questions the same day as you asked them. Can you give any information now about my guitar?

        2. Being that this site is public, I’d like to move to email. Are you good with that? From there I can send you photos of the various guitars that were stolen for your verification of my validity.

A detail on the Custom Tele I built.

One detail on the Ash body Custom Tele I built… The neck plate is counter sunk into the neck heel of the body to were the top of the plate will be flush with the back of the body. The neck plate is chrome & has “Fender” on it. Near to the neck heel there will be two small holes in the body from when I had previously installed a lipstick style pickup before I made the pearloid pickguard & installed the DiMarzio humbuckers. The bridge pickup is a DP159 Evolution with Allen wrench style pole pieces (black) & for the life of me I can’t remember now what model I put in the neck position, but I do remember it had traditional chrome pole pieces.

Thanks again. I hope this helps.

        Anonymous

Hi there, I apologize for the interragation, but being a fellow musician and knowing what I know about what was done to keep this guitar safe, secure, and untouched, in absolutely pristine condition, I have to be sure who I am dealing with. So a few more questions I have ask. Can you tell me what all was taken from you? Was your signature on any piece, if so which one? Do you know the guys at briz guitar store? Last did the baker have strap locks, what color was the strap if any. thank you

        1. Event 20/20 studio monitors
          M.H.

I forgot to mention that I had some Event 20/20 studio monitors were stolen as well. They were grey in color & had 8″ speakers. They were not self powered. They needed an external amp to power them.
Hopefully these replies will get to you in a timely manner. I think there is a communication delay on this site.

        2. Thank you for the interrogation. I know everything about it. It the guitar is in the same condition as it was when it was stolen it should have heavy gauge strings on it. It may have been tampered with since. As for the strap locks (if they haven’t been changed since) they were black Schaller strap locks. If I remember correctly, it had an Ernie Ball guitar strap. I remember the strap being black as well although it may have been a different color. If not black, it would be red or green. Pretty sure it was black though. I had a lot of Ernie Ball straps at that time and they all kind of got.used with various instruments. It had Seymour Duncan pickups. I had just put a Duncan “Phat Cat” P90 in the neck position before it got stolen. It may have been taken out since.
I had a great deal of things stolen from me in that last burglary at my storage. I had a Gibson Les Paul taken in the same burglary. Serial #9 0777. It has a one piece mahogany body & neck which has a transparent dark brown stain on them. It has a flame maple top with an amber Trans over the top. Black hardware:White pearloid (moto) binding around the body top & the rosewood fingerboard as well as the electronic plates were made from pearloid (moto). It had black hardware as well. The hardcase was orange with brown around the outer rim & yellow velour inside.
Silver Fender Telecaster “Fat Tele” (humbucker in neck position). Rosewood fingerboard. Pearloid pick guard. Serial #Z4033392
Custom (made by me) Telecaster with “Messiah” written on the front of the headstock in black. On the back my full signature is written on the back of the headstock in red & gold. Two piece ash body, dual DiMarzio humbuckers, white pearloid pickguard. Black Sperzel Tuners with pearl buttons. It was in a black road star gig bag.
I had about four amps stolen. Johnson millenium, couple epiphone valve jrs. A green two twelve speaker cab with celestion vitage 30’s in it.
A Mac 90 Chinese made semi auto rifle.
A bunch of guitar pedals in a SKB pedal case.
          A Kodak digital camera.
Some Halloween costumes of my wifes even!
There was much more. I would have to dig up the Police report to remember the rest of it.

If you need more imformation to verify that this is my guitar don’t hesitate to ask.
I forgot to mention that the finish is a natural clear finish unless someone refinished it since it was stolen.

Firstly, my apologies if my use of words sounds course. I was burglerized twice within 2 1/2 years of each other. This can make someone a bit paranoid when it comes to the ability to trust anyone who says they have this kind of information. This guitar has immense personal sentimental value to me. I had it made to my exact specs from Gene Baker himself back in 2001ish.
            The guitar headstock:
Angled headstock. 3/32 thick figured (“flame maple”) maple overlay with abalone “Baker” insignia in the middle. The tuners are black Sperzel locking tuners. Three on each side. On the back of the headstock the serial #064 is located at the top in the middle stating only 064. Just above the falute (the bump behind the nut on the back side of the headstock) it will have a tuning fork with a lighting blot going through it with the words “Buzz Feiten Tuning System” with a US patent number. All the lettering on the back of the headstock is black. The headstock shape is a pretty simple looking design. It tapers down and becomes more narrow at the top where there are two inward archs or swoops which come to a point in the middle, but that point does not stick out any farther than outside points. The nut is made out of black delron. The trussrod cover is exactly the same shape as the headstock & made out of “flame maple” as well. It looks like a miniature headstock. Two small black screws hold it on.
            The case:
Has black tolex on the outside.
It has four latches total. The middle latch on the handle side is a lock. The fourth latch is in the middle on the back side.
The hardware on the case is gold (probably worn down by now).
The handle is black leather like material that loops through a bracket on each side of it & has a flat piece that folds around the middle holding it together.
It has a very nice purple-ish/maroon-ish colored velour on the inside with a pocket (with a lid) located in the middle of the case underneath where the neck would lay.
Please keep in mind that it has been a long time since I have posted anything about this guitar and its being stolen. I remember putting it on stolen guitar registry .com, but didn’t remember putting it om this one. I actually think the two site are linked some how.

I have been trying for 2 years now to find Mike Hill, I have done everything short of calling the cops. Which I did not do cause if I can;t find him and they can’t find him either then the guitar in question goes to some cop auction. This is my final attempt.

        1. Do you have my Baker #064?
          Mike Hill

Who are you & if “Mike Hill” was my name how would you know it? Do you have my Baker #064 or know the where abouts to any of my gear that was stolen? $18,000 worth of my hard earned belongings where stolen from me. I recovered this guitar once before doing my own investigation after it was stolen the first time. It took me 1 year 3 months to find it. It was stolen again out of my storage. My insurance wouldn’t cover it. Please contact me again with any information you may have. I have been laid off and my family is on the verge of homelessness.

A Hagstrom L.P. was stolen in a break-in, from a store called Buy N’ Sell 12/15/06 at 6:20 in the morning, in Kitchener, Ontario. The serial # of the guitar is 789130. The tuners have been replaced with Grovers, pickups are Ibanez Super 58’s, and the pickup surrounds were also replaced. The guitar is transparent red and has considerable wear, especially on the back where it would rest on a stand. I have pics to verify ownership. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact me. Thanks

Still holding out hope to recover my guitar 7 years after the fact. There was an error in the original posting of this theft. The serial number is 789140, not 789130.

  24. Stolen Blue Warwick Corvette Proline Bass
    Dennis Lee

I recently had my Warwick Corvette Proline bass stolen on November 6th 2006. It was ocean blue with gold knobs and tuners. It was stolen in Los Angeles, CA in the downtown area. Serial# H08677401 which can be found on the back of the head. It’s really banged up from years of use and its not a common color for that type of bass. If you’ve seen it around, please let me know.

That’s terrible, I’ve been using my bass for so long now that it feels like a part of me.
I know what you’re saying about not being able to find one, I was recently watching a corvette proline 4 online and then checked back a few days later, it was gone, and nowhere online sold it. It was crazy.

      Hello,

I live in northern Italy and I’d like to report 103 (yes, one hundred and three) vintage instruments stolen about 10 days ago from the Guitar Ranch in Verona, Italy. The list of guitars with their serial numbers can be found here (the opening words of the link are in Italian but the entire list and descriptions are in English):

      http://www.accordo.it/missing/06/10/06/1954229.shtml

This is perhaps the single biggest vintage guitar dealer in Italy. PLEASE keep your eyes peeled, especially since I’m pretty sure these instruments will be destined for buyers outside of Italy since there are so few dealers here and they all know each other.

  28. Stolen 1964 Fender Stratocaster.
    Larry Port

I bought this guitar in 1964 when I was in my teens. It carries a lot of memories. It is a 1964 Fender Stratocaster that has been refinished in it’s natural wood tone. The serial number is L17572. I will be happy to provide pictures if you need them. My guitar was stolen about March 17, 2006 from Tucson, Arizona. If you have any knowledge of it’s whereabouts, please call me toll free at 1-877-881-4247 or email me at [email protected]. Thanks for your time. Larry Port.
