Hello – I have a leather Mel-O-bar guitar with case and finger slides. I am trying to figure out how much it is worth because I would like to sell it. Any help or feedback appreciated. I can send pictures to someone if they are interested or can help. Thank you!.
I have inherited a 10 string that has never been played. Everything is brand new, shoulder strap, 2-slide tubes I have no idea what its worth. Can someone help me in what it might be worth????
Thanks,
Marla
I got a somewhat hacked up 10 string that I’m restoring. It has the Naugahyde body (“The Tone is in the Foam”). It has the six string setup on the treble side with a four string setup on the bass side. I’m not sure of the original intent. At this point, I’m tempted to make an evenly spaced bridge/nut and do a 10 string C6 tuning across the neck, but am intrigued by the original setup. It came with a “Memory Bar” to separate the two sets of strings, but without knowing the purpose and tuning it doesn’t make sense to me.
Any guidance/info would be very much appreciated!
Thanks!
Go to the blog on google; melobarted.blogspot.com which has a complete history and explanation of the proform body model, especially under the Tech help section.

Is the Melobar still available?
If yes, what is your asking price?
If no, how much did it sell for?
Sincerely, Rob Lippman
I’ve seen two old Melobars, and bought them both. The first one was a 9-string on a Mosrite body w/ playing card markers(hearts, clubs, diamonds, and spades) on the fretboard. It has two pick-ups and can really scream when turned up. My second was a 10-string model with tuning instructions on the fretboard, it also has a great sound. I’m not sure who made the body on the second model. Anyway, I think the design was a great idea, having stand-up, strap-on slide guitar w/ a slanted neck allows you to really rock & roll.
