can you tell me about this. I think the model number is 7-297. serial number is 24670. 70-e do not know what this number means please let me know belonged to a world war 2 vet would like to know
Maton CW80 2257 1176 Stolen
My Maton CW80/6 Serial No 2257 1176 was stolen from my home in Marsden, Brisbane Qld between 4-11 June 2008. My attempts to locate it so far have been fruitless.
I'm offering a reward of $500 for the return of the instrument or information leading to the apprehension of the thief. I have had this guitar for more than 30 years - huge sentimental value. Pics on my web site www.anchoraus.com/stolenmaton.htm

have 2 flamingo's differant models both red,cutaway differant and the origanai cases[still in use but very ratty]fit appropriatly so they haven't been hacked. one in fantastic condition the other looks it age but is my favourite to play , both original in original cases anyone interested? cheers peter

The good old alver
I have an alver archtop. serial number b127(hand written). I looked on the maton history page but they all have a different head stock to mine. They all seem to have a head stock with a high point in the middle. Mine has a low left hand side sweeping (in a wave ) to a high point on the right.Any one know the difference? I love playing it but would like to know a bit of its background.

Maton Sapphire Deluxe bass 1968
I am selling this semi acoustic bass. Owned and played by my dad the label reads - Model: Sapphire Deluxe 402/4 Bass Serial: 317 (1168).
It is missing the bridge cover plate and one tuning peg. Original pick-ups work perfectly and although the neck shows signs of having been played, it is perfectly straight.
Anyone out there interested?

I have owned a tasman for years (at least 30) the sticker inside tells me it is number 427 and I think production date 10/82 I thought it was older than that.
Can anyone tell me if that date sounds right or does it mean something else.great guitar , could never part with it, as good as any aussie guitar.
when I contacted maton they tried to tell me that there were no jap. matons, we know better now, I think they were trying to give an all australian image.

I own an old Leaderman with two pickups which is probably a guitar from the sixties. It's minus a whammy bar. I wonder what it's worth.
60's Leaderman
I also own a 64 Leaderman, had since new, my 2nd electric guitar, I still play it almost on a daily basis, as for worth, probably only about $200 - 300, hard to sell guitars now with the saturated net market. I cut the whammy off mine, hopeless to keep in tune with it, great blues axe, small profile neck is excellent & the pickups are out of phase in the mid position, sounds cool with reverb !!

Maton K10 Capitol
I have a maton k10 Capitol semi acoustic. I have been informed that there were onl;y about 450 Capitols made but they were all straight acoustic. Mine has a maton single coil P/up, Bigsby style tremelo and vol and tone controls. It appears to be factory fitted but Maton don't know anything about it. Anyone out there know anything about it..

I've also had a K10 since 1988 fitting that description: single neck position pickup, tone/volume, tailpiece, tortoiseshell pickguard, etc.
A few years back I had a conversation with an ex-Maton employee who had a good knoweldge of its history and determined that
it probably wasn't worth much more than $800. For worn out frets and unusually deep tones (with low amplification) it's strictly
a sentimental instrument that I'm going to give to my son when he's a bit older.
IMHO There are "better" Matons to collect out there, and when you've already got a custom EBG808 why bother - you've already got the best!

Firebird 12/6 string
I have a a 1965 Firebird 12 string guitar for sale $1400 ono. I have used it both as a 12 string or 6 string guitar. I have had it for nearly 30 years and it is in very good and completely original condition. It has a wonderful close action and beautifully designed neck as per Maton's guitars of that era. It has a Bigsby tremelo.

Maton Starline Amps
Hi,
Does anyone know much about Maton Starline 50 watt amps, what they are like, when they were made, tone etc. Been trying to find some reviews on them but have not had much luck, any suggestions?
