Until the late 1930's the Australian guitar manufacturing industry was virtually non existent and good quality guitars were hard to find. Maton are Australia's leading manufacturer of Acoustic and Acoustic / Electric Guitars. We pride ourselves on making the best guitars possible at a price musicians can afford! Please take some time to view our range of superbly handcrafted Guitars, Accessories and Custom Options.

Maton Classical C.15

Hi, would anyone know the value of a lovely old Maton C.15 guitar serial no. 006 (274)? It's in excellent condition
and the intonation is perfect! I've never heard a nicer sounding nylon string guitar.... and I was wondering
what it's value would be.....
If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it,
Thanks, Craig Spy

Re: Maton Classical C.15

i dont know what a gutar would be worth but i know u cant fish for s**t your cooking was better than your fishing and your drinking was only matched by my fishing and no blow jobs from traci

Re: Maton Classical C.15

Not sure if this matters now, you've probably found out already, but... the C.15/C.25 models were roughly a few hundred, from memory...

You can run a model/serial code search from www.maton.com.au

Cheers.

Charles Orr, Minneapolis guitar maker

This guy made guitars for Prince,(he used to jam in Orr's back room) Dave "Snaker" Ray and a whole host of other luminaries of the music world. Now he seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.
Anybody know anything of his whereabouts, or have any pics of a Charles Orr axe? I did a documentary film about him in the eighties, and want to do an update. Thanks for listening.....JeffH

Charles Orr -:- The Man Behind the Music

I just bought my first Orr bass at Encore Music on Lyndale Ave here in Minneapolis. It's a beautiful violin shape with a neck-through body, Shadow humbucker and piezio pickups and a sound like no other bass I've ever owned. I've been told that of the three big luthiers in Minneapolis during the 70's and 80's (O'Hagan being one of the others), Orr were the only ones that were all hand made.

I'd like to see other Orr guitars and basses. Did Chuck ever produce a catalog, or at least take photos of all the instuments he made? I suggest a memorial website be made, even a free MySpace page where collectors, fans, and family can go to learn about Mr. Orr, post pics of their Orr guitars, and share their stories about the man behind these wonderful instruments.

I still hear from Chuck a few times a year. He is alive and well. He lives in Texas during the Winter months and comes back to Minnesota when the weather is warm. Write me and I will check with Chuck and see if he will give you his address or ph#. Rick

I used to hang out at the Guitar Shop around '80. Have one of about 4 sunburst violin shaped fretless basses Charlie made. Haven't seen him in 15 years or more. Last seen throwing darts in a saloon on Lyndale & Franklin. Pete

I new Chuck from 1979-83. I have played many of his instruments and worked on a special on board guitar transmitter project. I have not herd from him since 1983 and wish to contact him. Skip

Re: Charles Orr, Minneapolis guitar maker

I saw Chuck with one off his very rare 12 string Cuttaway acoustics he made. He looked great and I am looking for him again to go fishing.

Re: Charles Orr, Minneapolis guitar maker

I used to stop in Chuck's shop (first in Bloomington, then on Grand Ave. in Minneapolis) and loved his work. I almost bought a doubleneck of his (bass/guitar), but was young and couldn't come up with the cash. I would also like to know what he is up to, and if he is still making beautiful guitars.

Maton Hipower amp details [maybe 4 sale?]

Hi I have an old Maton Hipower amp that I was wondering if anyone would have any idea what it might be worth.
specs are as follow's.
Maton Hipower Starline t506 Studio Recording Model
2X12 60watt valve AMp
2 channels [1 instrument, 1 microphone]
Tremelo & reverb.
It's a beautiful amp I would date around the 60's maybe [possibly later]. The Maton badge also has a small light above it that lights up when turned on. [great idea, it also pulses with the tremelo, but I don't think that was intended :) ]. Anyway I was wondering if anyone knew if it was collectable, if so what it may be worth. & if your interested also email a price over & I will get back to you.
I know what I paid & don't know if it was a bargain or a ripoff because I have never seen any others like it.
Any info would be greatly appreciated from anyone who has any ideas.
This is a very long post I know & if you have read this far thanks anyway.
:)
