  4. Jimmy Bean Amp
    Jer

    Hi,
I have just bought a 1970’s Jimmy Bean "original and genuine" amplifier (head and 4 speaker cab).
The cab and head are covered in Denim material.
Has anyone ever heard of them? I can’t find any information on the net. I think they were made by Orange.
    Thanks
    Jer

The Jimmy Bean amplifier company was a company made exclusively by Orange. They were solid-state guitar amps that orange made to try digital amplification. it’s rather cool that you found one.

      Jeremy (via moderator)

I don’t know you’ll get much money for the Wilder gear simply because no body knows about wilder. I actually owned two speaker cabinets and I just found and amp which I am going to buy. If money were’n’t an object I’d buy your stuff too. Wilder made excellent gear. Unfortunatley you can’t find 6 pin speaker cables anywhere anymore but I think their pretty easy to modify so that you can use a regular 1/4". Anyhow, I would recomend your wilder gear to any who are interested in buying some good vintage gear. Even if it isn’t worth tons of money or anything.

      1. Re: wilder amps
        Stan

Just a note of probably little interest, but I played some Wilder amps in the late 60’s (?) at a local music store. They seemed to be very well made and were certainly the largest guitar amps in the store. We didn’t know much about
turning up an amp back then – I think we used some no-name fuzz box that was shaped like a wedge with two knobs mounted on the front of the wedge and a built in plastic 1/4" cord / plug coming out the side. Never saw these anywhere else. This was about the same time that a little known company in Mississippi called Peavey was making really large amps and speaker cabs ( I think they may even have had a 6X12" cab) and Kustom had made their ‘rolled & pleated’ cabs. God bless, Stan

I know, it’s a beater guitar, but I am looking for a series of parts for my old high-school era guitar- its an Ibanez Roadstar II series six string (purchased in 1982). I need the following:

      – the hex (internal head type) head screws to the lock down plate for the locking tremelo system. These are the 3 screws for the plate at the end of the neck.

      – The electronics for the pickup channel switch- replacement kit?

      – The small panel that covers the electronics connection for the cable jack.

      : Ben.

      Hey Ben,

I have seen these amps go for as much as $1000 and as little as $400? The biggest draw back, as far as tone freaks are concerned, is that the amp has a solid state rectifier and not a tube rectifier. To some really picky players, this makes a huge difference in sound and tone. I don’t think it is that big of a deal. I think you could safely list this amp on Ebay or Harmony-central.com for $700 – $800 and get it sold quickly.

      Good Luck, Brad
