I am trying to figure out the best place to sell a Harptone Guitar. It was from my family and I’m also not really sure of the value. The guitar is a Harptone E6N, the serial number is #2379-1. Can anyone help? [email protected]
I am selling these as part of an estate. I am trying to determine value and sell them within the next week or so.
Aria A564 S/N 00218 (bookmatch) good condition
Harptone E-6N S/N 76-0100 good condition
Regal Classic (Fender distributed) poor condition
also a couple Gibson Les Pauls from the mid-80’s but likely sold.
Possible 1950’s Fender Telecaster but it has to be looked at by expert tomorrow.
Please contact asap. Any info appreciated.
Hi,
I might buy the Harptone. Can you tell me what condition it is in? Is it still available?

Hello there, my name is Mike Jaypoody, and I’m from Nunavut. I have a question about my Anjo Acoustic Guitar Model F45. How long ago were they made or are they still around?? I was trying to find it on the net but seem to have a hard time finding the right one. This guitar was a gift from my used to be Step-father back in the late 80’s or something, and still have it around.
Any information? Write me a letter.
Thanks
Mike

50,000 PHP Philippine money is the equivalent of $1000 USD. The reason North Americans sell the Anjo Acoustic Guitar for so little is because they don’t realize it is a true vintage guitar; just feel the neck. Also take note that your neck is perfectly straight after 50 years, as mine is. Guitar companies made guitars with love and respect back in the 60s and 70s. I have the Anjo Model No. 10494. The top is real wood and not some cheap laminate as they do today with guitar manufactures looking to make money and not too concerned about making music from their guitars.
When it comes time for me to sell her, I will not be selling mine for $150 – $300. Someone who really knows guitars will totally appreciate what you have. I will sell it to a collector.
In any case, I hope this helps you Mike.

The Flood
In â72, things seemed to click for copies, and full-blown lines sprang into bloom. As part of this proliferation, almost simultaneously a host Telecaster copies emerged. Strum & Drum introduced its National FT 440-2 Finger Talker (cf. âFender Telecasterâ), a swell little cream-finished Tele with a maple board and chrome cover over the bridge/tailpiece. By â72 Aria was offering two Teles â the Model No. 1582, a regular Tele, and the Model No. 1592, a Tele Custom.
St. Louis Music (SLM) also joined the fray in â72. SLM had relied on Kay products beginning in the late â50s with its Custom Kraft brand name. Valco products began to appear in the mid-â60s with the same brand name. SLM began importing bizarre guitars carrying the Apollo name in around â67, just before Valco/Kay blew up. Its â70 lucite guitar was known as âThe Electraâ guitar, and became the brand name for SLMâs copy era. The Electra line of around â72 or so consisted of two Tele copies, a solid (Ivory White 2248WC, Jet Black 2238WC, Natural 2253WC) and a semi-acoustic thinline with an f-hole and high-gloss chestnut finish, sort of a cross between Rossmeislâs Tele Thinline and the Rosewood Tele.
Itâs probable Ibanez was also offering Teles as early as â72, especially since Fuji Gen introduced a version as early as â68. Certainly, examples of Elger-brand Tele copies exist that appear to be of this vintage. In the late â60s, Hoshino, the parent company that owns the Ibanez brand, had begun buying into Elger guitars made in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, owned by Harry Rosenblum, who operated Medley Music store. By â71, if not before, Hoshino had acquired a half-interest in Elger and had asserted its Ibanez brand name for use by the company, although occasional brief runs of Elger-brand guitars would be produced over the next few years. By â73 Ibanez offered the No. 2368F, a copy of the Thinline Tele with a neck humbucker and f-hole, and by â74 was selling three No. 2352 solid Teles in standard, one-humbucker (copy of the Tele Custom introduced in â72) and twin-humbucker (copy of the Tele Deluxe, introduced in â73) configurations.
In May of â72, a portentous advertisement appeared in The Music Trades. In an ad stretching across the top of a two-page spread, drawn cartoon-fashion with a jet soaring from Japan to the United States, the headline read, âKasuga Guitars Come To America.â Kasuga was a guitarmaker established in Nagoya, Japan, in the late â60s. In â67, Tommy Moore, the successful musical instrument merchandiser from Ft. Worth, Texas, and one of the founders of Hondo, visited Japan in order to strike up a guitarmaking deal. With only a voucher of credit in his pocket and no contacts, Moore hooked up with a Mr. Kaku, who steered him to Tokai Gakki. Tokai had become very successful in Japan making and marketing the Pianaca, a keyboard harmonica used in Japanese schools. On December 15, 1970, Moore and Tokai Gakki entered a joint venture called Tokai USA Inc., and Tokai began making private label and OEM guitars.
Tokai quickly found it couldnât keep up with demand, so it found a factory that could meet its quality standards: Kasuga. Another joint venture was established between Tokai USA and Kasuga called Kasuga International. Marketing offices were established in Singapore, Zurich, and Frankfurt. In â72, these guitars began to come into America.
In December, â72, an ad touted the Kasuga line, copies of the most popular Gibson, Fender, and Martin acoustic and electric solidbody designs. Presumably these included Telecasters. These were sold under the Kasuga name (briefly; a notice of Kasuga acoustics appeared in Guitar Player in September, â72) and carrying the monikers of various importers, as in the â60s.
In December, â72, U.S. Musical Merchandise published its new Sekova catalog, replete with a full line of copies, including its Sekova version of the Tele, probably produced by Arai.

Levins (mine too) have a number on the top of the head of the neck.
The dating of the numbers can be found in the following:

i have this anjo 3/4 acoustic (my brother took lessons with it when he was younger), and i’m trying to figure out the model type. All i have is the model number, and the company Anjo seems to be dead or something so i can’t find any site.
here is all the information on the guitar i have:
on the inside label it says – Anjo model no. 41
all I know is that this guitar has some pretty good sound, and the strings have never had to be replaced in all the years we’ve had and used it there are some nifty mexican-style designs on it too =p
Hi i read your message and i just got the some guitar as you discribed like mexican and inside it says anjo model no.41 im not sure when u wrote this but i am also needing information on this guitar too. if you happen to get any please contact me. Thanks ,spencer
I have an Anjo soprano (1/2 size) guitar that I bought a few years back. The tone and projection are fantastic for what I had assumed was a kid’s guitar, but it’s the real thing. It tunes one octave above a standard guitar, and is great for picking out a bridge or solo in a group. It has a Mexican-looking binding on the body, neck and head, and an abalone soundhole inlay. I don’t recall the exact price, but it was well under $100 new. It’s really ruggetly built, but I wanted a case for it; I finally found a ‘tweed’ hardshel ukulele temor mandolin case that fit it pretty well. The neck is easy and very playable as a melody instrument, but only someone with smaller fingers than mine could use this as a rhythm/chord instrument. I, too, wish I could find out more about it.
By the way, "Anjo: is a musical style:– you can get recordings on the web if you search the word in Google.

I have an L6NC – Jumbo, with solid spruce top, maple sides, and arched maple back – made in NJ. Great sounding guitar – bright wooden sound with huge hollow low end. These are very rare – I’ve never heard such a bright jumbo with such a clear, round bottom.

I hope this forum is still active – I found it while looking for a truss rod wrench for my Harptone which I’ve had since the mid to late 1970s . . It’s a blonde flat top, arch back Jumbo, model L-6NC, ser# 2012-22. Adjustable bridge, zero fret . . . it’s had several modifications . . . GREAT acoustic sound!! I’d really like to make a small adjustment to the (double) truss rod, but I’m looking for the right tool. Thoughts are appreciated!!
I have a Harptone P-6N. Can barely find anything on this model. Found a lot on the E model, but his is hard to find.
Anybody have any I formation on these? Thanks!
I bought my Harptone New in 1973 from Jack Cessini’s shop in Chicago. I used it both on stage and in the studio. It sounds great. Just curious of the value as I want to include it on my insurance, as I am sure it is not easily replaced.
Thanks

: I aquired what looks to me , stamped on the inside of the acoustic martin style Kasuga guitar , on the neck is 9G-100, below that is stamped what also looks to be 254.
It is the guitar that it is very unusual of a product made in Kasuga musical instrument if the number is BG-100, and it is done inlay with a pearl shell with ‘the kasuga’ diagonally on the head front, and Grover is open back type of a square knob more.
This picture is a then catalogue.

Kasuga musical instrument is founded in 1935, and it is a noble maker of Nagoya who went bankrupt in 1996.
The guitar which you were referred to for was released in 1977 with the thing which Kasuga who made an effort to catch up with old martin D-28 produced at a hand craft line .
Kasuga submitted trouble to production of this series very much, only a few was produced. iIt is around 200 with all the seriesj

: On the inside,—sides ,top and bottom, look the same grain ( a dark grain). The outside grain on the guitar matches the inside pattern grain. The neck is of a lighter colored wood.
: The machine heads are Grover, and the mother of pearl are small but round inlays, starting between the fourth and fifth fret.
: The sound is full, action is easy, and a good friend who’s a bluegrass fanatic, loves to play itas well.

I have a Kasuga guitar which is also a dreadnought, but with block pearl fingerboard inlays. It is model D-612. I bought it new in 1969 (may have been 1970, but I think 69. They were imported into the UK from Japan in fairly limited numbers, and the only thing that let’s it down on the quality front is the machine heads which, although working very effeciently, are not the best cosmetically. As you say though the action and sound is excellent, and it is a dream to play. If you are interested I will take a photo and send it, there are some very nice cosmetic touches, e.g the banding doen the centre back join.

: I have a Kasuga guitar which is also a dreadnought, but with block pearl fingerboard inlays. I purchaseda KASUGA Guitar from a second hand furniture store about 10 or 12 years ago. Its an acustic, kind of a cherry red (dark) pearl inlay fingerboard, model # W17 label inside of guitar moved on to Gibson Blues King about 7 or 8 years ago. sold the Kasuga, but bought it back 2 years later. Dont know what to make of it> Is it any good? $$$$$???????

Looking to sell it but not sure what price to ask for
I may have this same guitar. It has a sunburst finish, strange epsilon shaped f holes, and sounds "tin~like". It has the "hofner compensator regd 851997" stamped on the tail piece, however does not have the Hofner branded any where on the wood. I was told by the shop owner (probably B.S.) that it was purchased in London from the original German owner and that it was made in 1951. Any other information anyone has would be appreciated.
got the above. want to know the history and what i need to insure it for. NZ dollars.
Mint condition, no amp but plays beautifully.
Hi Louise,
I think the number you are quoting is the number of the tailpiece on the guitar.
I take it that the guitar is a hofner.
If it is a hofner and is in good condition don’t sell it cheap.Type http://www.provide.net/~cfh/hofner2.html
This should give you some ideas about its age etc.
I have an ole president myself and sadly finances are making me sell it.
I am thinking of selling it in the USA using EBAY.
I think there is a demand for these old axes and sometimes they are worth more than we realise.
I can send you a pix of mine if you like.
I would like to see a pix of yours if possible.
Regards,
Tony

Hi,
I have a Hofner Congress model Reg No: 13389 (seen on label through the ‘f’ hole) which my mother bought me back in the early to mid 60’s. It is in fairly good condition with some scratches etc but the tailplate has Hofner Compensator showing Reg 851997.
I wonder why the different name and registration number?
Where can I find out about their prices if I need to sell it.
Thanks
CP
Hi,
I was recently beenn clearing out a garage of really old things and came across this guitar and i dont know a lot about them but thought that it looked quite old and should find out a bit more about it.
It is not in a very good condition with no strings and a few scratches i researched it and found out that they can be quite valuable so i would really appreciate it if you could email me a bit more about the guitar and then i could send you some photos of it and hopefully you could give it a value.
Many thanks, Max

and i want to know how much a schecter is worth too.
I an familiar with the Kasuga dreadnought, owned and sold it, and it is basically a precise Japanese copy of the Martin dreadnought it represents. These early 70’s guitars from Japan were made extremely well and the spruce and construction make these play as sweet as what they attempted to copy for the most part. Comparably, the most analogous guitars of this era; early 70’s Japan, were the so-called lawsuit guitars manufactured by Matsumoku, Japan. The lawsuit guitars were basically design rip-offs of their Gibson counterparts, and these among the acoustics were Lyle, Alvarez, Aria, Dove etc…. Many of those co.’s branched off and later made products made in Korea and later China. Kasuga was made in Japan to emmulate the quality of the Martin dreadnoughts in their acoustic line. They do most times. As far as price with normal wear and age, it seems that a very good one can get up to $300, but many pass for sale as low as $125 to $200. The Matsumoku, Kasuga, Aria, Japanese guitars are appreciating in value considerably and will get more since many are discovering these rare gems again through the wire, and there is a demand among collectors and musicians seeking quality and affordability. I have many of these original parts and I have obtained most hardware which is essentially “original”… I can also give you a good value on any Schecter as it is my electric of choice and what I play professionally. Model and condition will give you a close ballpark figure of what any Schecter model is worth, but some of the high-end custom models are hard to determine as they are more or less a niche of pro-players affinity to play a certain form, style, genre. For instance, I have 2 seven string Schecters. My first, a SGR 7-string, was purchased in almost new condition for 125 bucks. The other is a damien omen elite 7 which I purchased for almost 500 bucks. They appear quite similar and distinctively Shecter, but the small lapse in quality control, type of pick-ups, and country of origin/mfg. are quite important, as those small details matter. The Kasuga is a score and a great player comparable to the best. I’d keep that and original for a good time as it will be worth more as sweet spruce-tops go the way of high-end overpricing, and more and more factory-line assembly guitars are produced in China to retail for under $100 brand new… Go figure…
I have just adopted a Kasuga 1972 KF-440 Acoustic Steel Guitar. Gorgeous! However, I’m missing a single key. Does anyone know where I can find replacement parts for her? It would be much appreciated for any help anyone could lend
Watch those guys, I know someone who spent 5 grand on a guitar that was not what they said it was. They are now selling Jap guitars when they have been putting shit on them for years. I have personally seen
a couple of the Jap guitars in stock and they are not the real deal .The JV strat they have is a mix of parts and again not the real deal
You have been warned.
Thanks Mate, how is your store going?
I am sorry I couldn’t take your low offer on the JV.
Take care,
Steve

Hi Ashley,
I am in the same boat as you and wondering the same thing myself. My find was at a swap meet and loved the look of it and it was in good shape and came with case. I am a total beginner too and can’t tell a good guitar sound from a cat in heat…LOL. I did look into other sites that rated this model we have as a good beginner guitar with not the greatest sound but very durable. I hope this helps somewhat and hope you have fun in learning to play as I’m sure I will!

Hey,
Ya they are descent beginner guitars the w68. the w68 is a guitar built for beginners, so they aren’t very expensive. Although Anjo makes expensive guitars that date back to the 40’s, the w68 is great to start on. I would give it a rating of about 6/10 for a guitarist to play with that guitar. But for a beginner to learn on it and start out with it, I would give it a 10/10, it is a great beginner guitar.

Please contact me
I have done extensive research regarding LoBue and the Guitar Lab. If you are still in posession of this guitar I would love to talk with you.
Barry
I first met Charlie LoBue when he moved down the block from me in 1972, taking an apartment on the corner of Thompson & Bleecker and opening his Guitar Lab on Thompson. We became fast friends, and even though I had just started playing, he wanted to make me a bass (Brazillian mohagany) which I still have. I don’t remember exactly, but I believe that this was made from the same block of wood that Alfonso’s was made, and has most of the same characteristics, except that it is fretted. Thru my roomate, Charlie met the new neighbor who would become his wife, and with whom he had 2 kids. The marrige did not work out so well, and the last I heard anything about him was thru Matt Umanov, who reported that Charlie died of lung cancer some years ago. He was still quite alive at least thru 1980, the last time I saw him. BTW, all of his guitars had a #1 serial #. He thought he could do that to avoid taxes.

Hello
I am Charles Lobue’s sister. Charles passed away May 13, 1985. I have the first guitar he made and would be happy to fill you in on any information I can. I can be reached at [email protected]
I have this guitair made by the late Charlie LoBue. Charlie has made custom guitars for the likes of Rick Derringer, paul Stanley of kiss, and many more famous musical greats. he had a place in NYC called Guitar Lab. My friens tell me that Mr. LoBue passed on in 1976-1977. I don’t know too much of the history of this man, nor the value of this double cutaway instrament. If anyone can hip me to his past , I sure would appreciate it.
THE ONLY DISCRIPTION OF THIS GUITAR CAN BE FOUND ON http://WWW.KISSTABS.COM

I have a Eugene Howard Parlor Guitar that needs a major restoration to be playable but is basically in solid condition. It has the silver tuners which work fine- there are some cracks and splits which can be filled- probably needs a reset of the neck- maybe an adjustment will do- the bridge has pulled away but is usable- needs some bracing- very cool, still has a nice appearance- took it to a very highly regarded shop and he gave me a nice rundown- too expensive for me- it’s either a very cool wall-hanger or a “mechanic’s special” – like to sell it for anyone interested rob
greetings guitar lovers. I am considering selling my Eugene howard parlor guitar. She has the cool german silver tuners and is in good playing condition. There are some areas where it is worn but this one sounds great and is loud and stays in tune. The tuners were ahead of their time. If anyone is interested, drop me an email before I use ebay or reverb. I have the original case which is in great condition. Its one of those back type feeders with a leather handle. I just put a set of martin silk and steel strings on her and she sounds beautiful. Many parlors don’t sound very good but this one does. I will send pics to any interested parties.

Has anyone ever heard of Astoria guitars??? Its a gibson les paul shape and as far as i can make out it says Astoria on the head. i have for years and recently i say the same guitar turn up in an oasis video.
I have Astoria jazz bass wintage sunburst, maple nack and fingerboard 34" scale, 20 medium jumbo frets with black fingerboard binding. I think that she is from 70-80. I bought her recently. Plays and looks like a dream. Better than some Fender jazz bass I played. Made in Japan…. Thats it….If someone knows more…..
I’ve just bought an Astoria Strat from a junk shop in London – I have never heard of Astoria before!
I had an ice blue one back in 1963 / 1964.
I have a few faded pictures somewhere.
Great guitar, a little heavy but smashing sound.
Purchased from the store in the arcade Newcastle at a cost of about £150.
I also had a white Dallas Tuxedo guitar and white Rossetti Accoustic.
I swapped it for a 1959 BSA A10 Gold Flash 597FKO in 1965.
I wish I had either of them now.
i just got one from a friend whose had it for years. took me 3 hours to get it lookin good again and workin right. somebody had it painted black a whiile back though. looks like it had a gold finish on it before

Hello Folks,
The Astoria guitars are well known to me in case
they are Japanese made instruments between 1970
and 1980.
In fact they’re coming from the TAMA factory,
in any case the acoustic guitars. These guitars
are really finely built with a lot of craftsmanship. They sound great! When the Tama
luthiers stopt in about 1980 they started making
the first Ibanez Artwood series, they’re great too. Check the Tama unofficial website:
http://freenet-homepage.de/hufschlag/html/tama_main.html
Best wishes to all, Noud
yeah, they are rar japanese!i have a k372bk acoustic 12-string in black, vintage modell, think from 70 or beginn of 80,i play it with 6 strings.is one of the most beautiful guitar i ever seen!sound is not the loudest but one of the finest!!
Hey, I’m quite late to this thread but wanted to learn more about this guitar I have recently aquired.
It’s an Astoria k372bk, 12-string acoustic and besides this forum post I have found close to no info on the subject matter.
Is there a market for these guitars? Any additional information on the background of Astoria Guitars?
The guitar has some imperfections as well as a warped top. Is it worth to get that fixed by a professional?
Anyway thanks for all information!
I have boought a second hand Gibson Astoria and the guy in the local music shop says its a fake. It is a special Sg custom and all the bits seem legit.
I am looking for a JMP 100, with or without Cab.s
Im looking for a 70’s tele (72 custom-humbucker) hopefully ready for work! nothing but black on black American, ‘c’ or (even rarer ‘v’) neck.
Also, ‘Black Lady’ Strat, 70’s large. Black on black only. mods ok.
not one to hang on the wall!!
hello jacksons
I am looking to by a 295 gibson built in 1953. What is a fair price for such an instrument in not such perfect order (eg the neck is a little bent)
thanks
Justin
Fits in a violin case. Green pearl inlay. Picked it up at a garage sale for 2 bucks (canadian). I have no idea how rare or how much it is worth.

Hi. I have a 1962 Hofner Verithin, and I just wonder if you got any folloe-ups on your guitar? I had an expert look at mine, and he estemated the value ov it to be around 35.000Kr, or about 7.000 dollars, if I found the right collector. I’ll never sell mine, i got it from my grandfather. However, it’s nice to know how much it’s worth, isn’t it? 🙂

As far as I know, there is no such thing as a Hofner Verithin 1957. The earliest are from about 1960.
As to the value, I can’t imagine anyone paying $ 7000 for a 1962 Verithin. I’d say about $ 1000, give are take a few hunderd.

I HAVE A HOFNER 1957 VERITHIN (CHERRY COLOURED)IN GOOD CONDITION WITH ORIGINAL BIGSBY TREMOLO UNIT (OR WHAMMY IF U PREFER!)& ORIGINAL NECK. I SUSPECT THE ELECTRICS NEED AN OVERHAUL BUT IT’S IN FULL WORKING ORDER. I PAID £600 FOR IT IN 1989 (BECAUSE IT HAD £600’S WORTH OF STAGE COOL, REGARDLESS OF ACTUAL VALUE). I WOULD BE INTERESETED IN A VALUATION THOUGH I WOULD HOPE NEVER TO BE TEMPTED TO SELL – BUT YOU NEVER KNOW.
hello out there im not sure if anyone can help me locate some info on electa guitars< trying to find out where it comes from and how old it is< helpppppppppp
I don’t know if this is any help but i own an electa banjo and i am trying to find out some information on it.
I did find a web site on electa about 2 years ago and they were made in australia but i cannot seem to find the web site again.
I bought an Electa 5 string banjo about 10 years ago from a Australian visitor from Fiji. I know they were made for the Australian market. I have only seen two others, one was a really cheap looking budget model and the other was given to a woman by her sister to help her with her arthritus. I sent photos of my Electa to the owner of an American Asian Banjo site who had never heard of an Electa !!!!!. It appears to be very well made with heavy gauge chrome plated ring lots of pearl Inlay and has a pearl insert at the top of the finger board with Custom Made etched on it, it also has a 20 hole tone ring.. I was informed it was a copy of a Mastertone of which very few were made. It does sound very good for a Jappo banjo. If I knew how to upload pix I would but I dont know how to do it. For the record I also own a Vega open back Folk Banjo and a Huber Lexington and a Trumpet i used to play in a trad Jazz band and in a large youth orchestra……lucky me!!! ….I live by myself and own a cat.
am trying to find out same thing
if successful please share it with us
regards
Dave & Lew

I cant help with much except that I have an Electa Les Paul which is a stunning guitar. Its black, has a set neck and puts out. I also have an Electa Telecaster which is a fantasstic guitar to play.
From what I know, Electas were produced in Japan probably by the same companies responsible for Ibanez,Tokai etc.
If you have any other info let me know.

I’ve listened to Peters music for decades, and wondered where his militant days guitar had gone? Do you know? If so, let me know. I may have a way to help get it back to the museum.

Hi, any idea of how much you want for it, and roughly how much shipping to England would be?
Look forward to hearing. Cheers, Jon
I own a hennessy 12 string. I’ve yet to come across anyone who’s ever heard of him. My Dad used to say he was an American gangster or something and he only made 12 guitars in his life, and only 4 of them were 12 string – so there are only 3 other guitars like mine – and its a wonderful guitar with mother of pearl inlays. But its difficult to plays because its so big. Strangely enough it never needs tuning. Or maybe I’m just going tone deaf.
Has anyone heard of Hennessy and where can I found out more about rare guitars?
cheers everyone
Alex

Hey I got a guitar called Estrada and i wanted to know who the manufacturer was and if possible, the price.
: Hey I got a guitar called Estrada and i wanted to know who the manufacturer was and if possible, the price.
I also recently purchased one. It is made in Japan but I don’t know the value. It is a good sounding instrument.
I also have an estrada and I found this off a guitar question and answer page:
Estrada is a common name. It was a brand for guitars made in Japan by Suzuki, but yours is likely just a Mexican factory made instrument. I would not consider it valuable, but it may be a perfectly usable classical.
I have an Estrada which I purchased in metro Detroit new about 1968. It is a Japanese made replica of a Gibson J-200, much like the current ones marketed under the Epiphone label. The body seems to be mahogany and the top may be laminated spruce. Sound is not as full as the real thing but the action is sweet. It has a tunomatic bridge. Was this guitar in fact made by Suzuki? I’d like to know
