    hey all…i been playing for over 20 years, love EVH…i can play alot of his stuff decently, but i got a problem w/ the intro /main riff of "I’m the One"…it’s weird…I can play the SOLO, but the intro/main riff just falls apart as I play it

      you would learn a shit load more if you figured it out yourself! thats the main reason why guitar players generally suck, because of tab. music is about using your ear- i bet eddie, jimi, etc, never had tabs, they just had to listen over and over again.

      h’i there the one place i know for sure where you get the tab for vh beatit, in the guitarist magazine back issue(1990-93) the one with eddie on the front cover with three of his guitars inc:the frankenstat it has the complete transcription. anyway keep a look out as i may post it on one of the van halen tab sites if i can figure out how to.

      ps: also check ebay as i’ve seen a copy of the mag on there

      I use my forefinger for the taps….and my thumb for the "E"’s…. this tab only list one "E" tap, but there are really three in a row…..try it..

        I’ve been wondering this myself for years.

        Tap 12 frets up from an E chord then down to a D. After the tapping I’m lost

        The main riff is very easy and is…

        //F# /A /B
        /A /F# /A /B
        (and repeat)

        2 string chords in the key of F#

        the rest is Eddies improvised lead stuff.. i picked it up by ear in the absence of any tab.. most licks are either across the 2/4 frets and the higher 14/16

        The first lick after the vocal is a bend on the G string 4th fret with a hammer on at the 9th fret with right finger at the top of the bend.. classic eddie lick but sounds awesome cranked up!

          actually, that mp.3 thats been floating aroung (the 24th caprice) under Jason Becker’s name, i’m pretty sure is performed by John Williams.

          Go to amazon and search for "Guitar Recital: Paganini, Scarlatti, Giuliani & Villa-Lobos" you’ll find the first track titled "1. Capriccio, Op. 1 No. 24: Tema. Quasi Presto – Var. I – XI" is identical to the mp.3 under Jason’s name. listen to the real audio clip.

          i don’t know why it has been put under his name. Jason Becker was a great guitarist and i don’t doubt that he could play pananini’s stuff like that on a nylon string guitar. I’d love to have heard him playing it (the 24th) on a nylon string. i’d liked to have seen how he would have interpreted it.
