Re: Best electric guitar for around $300

: : What is the best electric guitar for around $300? This will be my first electric guitar. I'm considering getting one of the following: Fender Stagemaster HSH, Ibanez RG170, Washburn BT-6 or BT-4 Billy T series, or Epiphone LP-100 Plus. Which one of these is the best?

: For under $300, you should check out the Yamaha Pacifica 312. I've owned guitars for about 5 years and
: I've gotten the chance to check out a lot of guitars... I own an ESP Horizon, which is a great guitar... I was
: looking for a cheap guitar that would stay in tune, something I could bang around. I picked the Yamaha
: Pacifica 312. It stayed in tune, looked good, played well, the TREM even stayed in tune, and most
: important, it SOUNDED good. Granted, it isn't as good as the ESP, or any of the guitars in the $1000
: range, but hey, for $300, it's a STEAL. You might even be able to get a Pacifica 412 for around $300.
: Seriously check 'em out, they are great guitars. Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. :)

For $450.00 you could get one of the coolest guitars ever made. It is a Mach 5 and is made by Dean. Go to deanguitars.com and check it out.

Re: Best electric guitar for around $300

I have had experiences with a variety of guitars. From strats to Les Pauls and I can easily say that the best guitar for under $300 are the new Kramer guitars. I was sad to see then go in the late 80's but they are back and better than ever. I just purchased a new Kramer Striker HSH and it is great !!!

I bought a washburn BT6 not long ago, and I was very pleased with it. it has a locking trem, which can be annoying at times, but it sounds great and has a nice feel. I would recommend this guitar to anyone.

Well, many of the guitars you listed are built by Samick and the Samick versions usually cost less.
Also check out Cort, Raven and Jay Turser as they good offer guitars in this price range.

In the Bass Player magazine July'99 issue the Nemesis got the best rating.

Re: which bass amps do you like best???????

I used to own an Acoustic 360 bass rig , it had one 18" speeker in a folded horn cabinate that was powered along with head!! Is the company still around or have they merged with an other company? If so who! Please point me in the right direction.

I'm thinking of purchasing a Heritage 535 or 555 (Similar to a Gibson 335). There's a huge website by Ed Roman that sells them. Has anyone heard anything about him or Heritage? Sure appreciate the help.

Re: Heritage Guitars & Ed Roman

I just got done dealing w/ the people from Ed Roman's guitars. These are guitar people, its all they do. They know their product, they know the difference between good guitars and bad guitars ;and they can tell the difference between someone who is looking to buy a guitar and someone that it just looking to use them as a price check. So cut Ed Roman some slack. For the record, he does have all the guitars in stock that his website claims.
I was offered the opportunity to play any on the 50+ Heritages that he has in stock, as well as anything else available. Someone let me know when Sam Ash or Guitar Center has let you handle any guitar over $1200
for more than 10 minutes without a baby sitter.

Additionally, I brought my strat in for a major body repair and he really helped me out with the final cost, because he can tell the difference between working musicians and hacks.

Last note:
It takes money to carry inventory and the retail market is fierce. If you want to put your hands on the guitar you are going to buy, go to Ed Romans. Otherwise take your chances elsewhere and order from the catalog.

You get what you pay for.

Re: Heritage Guitars & Ed Roman

Buy a heritage guitar direct from the factory, Wonderful wonderful guitars, Built if you like to your spec. And much better quality than Gibson. I own one of each. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ED ROMAN: NOT EVEN A PACK OF STRINGS: He has his own ideas of what a good guitar should be like. So order from him any guitar and somewhere along the line he has but his own personnal stamp on it. New Top, shaved off the heel. Etc... He Is famous for it. AND HE IS THE RUDEST MAN ON GOD*S GREEN EARTH:
Hope this helps.

Major Heritage guitar fan. Sweden.

Re: Heritage Guitars & Ed Roman

I pesonally know of three people that have had Ed Roman twist deals into nighrmares. He does not do what he says, and he demands more deposit money after the original deal is struck. He has a bad temper and no patience.Do not recommend doing business with him. Call Jay wolfe and get a straight deal.

Re: Heritage Guitars & Ed Roman

What's the deal about Ed Roman? I just bought a small 335-like guitar, Blues Deluxe from him and I like the guitar. It is the best I've bought in a long time. I hand picked it off the rake where I saw at least 20 of the same model in different colors. Now , how often do you get a choice like that? I just recently sold a Heritage 555 and Ibanez George Benson that I really did not like. I bought them used. I like the smaller body of the Blues Deluxe and the finish and color are top notch. I saw Ed Roman but didn't really meet him, I was there to buy a guitar and not talk story. Don't really know if he is nice or what, I wasn't there to make friends anyway. I picked the guitar, gave them the money and was out of there. I don't like to waste my time. The next time I buy a guitar from him I will do the same. Just know what you want and do the research first, before you step into the store, guys.

Re: Heritage Guitars & Ed Roman

Hi. I live in England, UK. I have No. 37 of 75 custom Heritage Gary Moore Guitars. I have to say these guitars are "what trees are grown for". They are an absolute dream. As for Ed Roman, I've never heard of the fellow so I'm afraid I can't comment, although I tend to agree with David B that you're buying a guitar, not buying a new friend.

Re: Heritage Guitars from the factory

I am interested in purchasing a guitar direct fom Heritage can anyone tell me how to do this. Thanks for the help.

Re: Heritage Guitars

I just bought one. 535 starburst. I think it's probably a 99 or 00 series. I kind of bought it just because it was so pretty. I saw that it was made in Kalamazoo...so I figured it was the old Gibson plant. It sounds so sweet. I paid $1000 used. perfect fitted case. Look around on ebay there are several. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.. They have very large shoes to fill by taking over and doing what Gibson seems to have forgotten about (Quality). I am very satisfied.

: First:
: Herritage guitars are VERY nice. They're made by the old Gibson
: people in the old factory and they're generally a higher quality
: product than Gibson is now.
:

: Ed Roman has an unreal website that will make you drool all over yourself.
: However, if you look beyond the pics and READ any of it, his personality
: comes through the text, it will become clear that he's a real "piece of work."
: Though he does know his subject and does beautiful work.
: I asked a music dealer friend of mine about him, and he said he had heard several
: horror stories about working with the guy. He is aparently well-known in the industry,
: not well-liked. Of course, this is second hand information.

: So the answer is YES on Herritage, BE CAREFUL on Roman.
: You're probably OK if you just order one of his stock guitars,
: but you can also order then direct from Herritage and eliminate the middleman.
: A good friend of mine ordered a Herratige that way and had no
: trouble. You can also send it back with no hassles if you don't like it.
: My gut tells me Roman would give you a harder time about that.

How do I contact Heritage? I am also interested in purchasing a 535. I am having problems accessing their web page.

Good is a relative thing. If your guitar has no visible scratches, bowed neck or bridge, it could be worth between four and seven hundred dollars. I might be interested in it if you wish to contact me. Henry.
