Re: FENDER VS. GIBSON
i am 17 and live in illinois , i work full time at minumum wage. about 3 years ago i bought a strat
and for the kind of money i have it is the best. Ideally i would rather have the sg but i cant afford
that. Its like shoping at walmart. there's nothing wron with it but if you want the abercrombie and fitch
of guitars go to gibson
Re: FENDER VS. GIBSON
: : Hi I was just curious as to what you guys believe is a better manufacturer of guitars...and obviously, which company makes a better guitar overall? FENDER or GIBSON.
-Personally I feel that Strats are work horses, they get the job done and are fixable guitars. Les Pauls are in a whole different world of guitars, they're by far the greatest.
: : I, myself, own a les paul and would rather be casterated than trade it in for a strat of equal value.
: : Just mention what company you prefer, and what music style you're into!
: Lemme put it in perspective for ya. Stratocaster-knife. Gibson-butter.

GIBSON!!!!!!

Re: FENDER VS. GIBSON
: I would have to lean toward Fender. With all the great artists that have used them, Eric Clapton,
: Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan. The list goes on and on. Nothing compares to the "quacky"
: sound of a Strat or the twang in a Tele. Being a blues fan, I think it is just a superior guitar.
: I won't deny the ES-335 what it deserves. B.B. King's "Lucille" has to be one of my favorite guitars.
: But you just can't beat a Fender. Back to that list. Buddy Guy, Richie Sambora, John Frusciante,
: ...me. Just shittin'.
Re: FENDER VS. GIBSON
I had a Gibson Les Paul Custom but had to sell it because I had my third child on the way. When I got some bucks together I went and bought another guitar. I could not afford a Les Paul so I bought a Fender Strat. The Strats OK but it does not rock nearly as good as the Les Paul. Try and play hard rock with a Strat and you will be disappointed. The pickups can't handle it and end up producing a buzzing mushy distorted sound. The power from a Les Paul sounds as though it could cut the Earth in half. Its the sound of going to war.

Re: FENDER VS. GIBSON
Gibson is finished like shit, however they sound good and i own a few. Fender is finshed good and I think sounds heaps better Fuckin' hell shit cuntface wanker labia lick'n ficki'n dude am i. %$%[email protected]&Y$rrrf
Re: FENDER VS. GIBSON
I've played on both and prefer my Fender 63 strat. It fits me like a glove and no les paul in the world could compare to its sound
Re: FENDER VS. GIBSON
I've been playing guitar for a lot of years now, and have played both fender and gibson guitars. The Les Paul far exceeds the strats or the telecasters. It has way more sound and it's more expensive for a reason.
Re: FENDER VS. GIBSON
If you are talking about current production guitars, I would say Fender has a higher standard of quality on average. For a good handbuilt guitar from either company you'll pay from $2,000 to $3,000 or even more. There are still some shitty quality Custom Shop guitars from Fender and Gibson. I've played Historic goldtops that was far from cosmetically perfect, but sounded great. I've also played 56 reissue Strats that looked great but had a terrible fret job. The American series Fenders are good guitars for the money. The Gibson Les Paul Classic was a good deal, but the price is jumping quickly. Most Fenders and Gibsons can play all styles, although Teles and Gibson Holowbodies probably aren't the best choice for metal. My advice, when buying listen to the guitar and decide if it feels comfortable. You can't hear the finish.
Re: FENDER VS. GIBSON
it works like this, Fenders are corvettes and gibsons are caddilacs, its all taste, if u want something that looks nice and is elegant you go with the gibson, but if u want something thats gonna perform like no other, snag a strat. i have 2 and thers nothing like them
Re: FENDER VS. GIBSON
do to the of the increasing price of both fender and gibson i refuse to buy either. I instead collect pre law suit model such as univox and tokai; many of
which blow the door of the originals.
but generally when you stack fender agaist gibson
i feel fender win for several reason
1. fender guitar create really beautiful brite tones
while gibson tend to create a mudder sound
which is good for heavy metal(but im so not in there
anymore)
2 fender is built better. not only can you drop a
fender but you can throw a fender it in many case
it may still be playable. (because of the slanted
headstock of gibson)if your ever drop a gibson
before it hit the floor you already know your gonna
have to shell out some duckets to fix the headstock
and it still may not sound write again.
if you are rich and stupid enough to break the
neck of a fender you can purchase another neck
because the neck can be unscrewed while gibson
neck are not detachable.
3. that glorious whammy bar, boy! the things jimmy
could do with that. even though gibson had the
the bagby whammy bar on the les paul and the
firebird has a whammy as well. but neither compare
to that over the top whammy of the fender tunning
a fender strat when use can be a b!#ch at time
4. i find fender easier to play but is totally
subjective and thus i can not slight gibson
for my inability as a player.so with that said.
your honor the defense rest.

Re: FENDER VS. GIBSON
I own both a Gibson Les Paul Std 2002 and an older Fender Fat strat. They are both great guitars, but for rock and roll, I like the Les Paul best. For more funky stuff og pop music, the strat sounds really nice.
I have aslo one marshall all valve amp and a fender all trancistor amp. The Les paul is much better with the Marshall then the Strat, then again, the strat is a bit better with the fender amp.
If I had to pick one of the guitars and one of the amps, it would be the Les Paul and the Marshall

Re: Fender Guitar
: "Easy to play fast neck that Fender is known for?"
: Ummmm, I dunno about that one. Sure, there's Yngwie, but he could play like that on ANY guitar. Wasn't it Richie Blackmore who said he enjoyed playing strats because they presented a "challenge" due to the necks longer scale length? I think this is more of a personal preference than a simple brand vs. brand question. Looking through this message board I see a lot of brand vs. brand topics. While this gets people talking about their preferences I feel there is no "perfect guitar" for everybody.

Re: Fender Guitar
Yeah I've been playing guitar for the past few years now
and im in the market for a nice electric. The Telecaster
and Stratacaster are very intruiging but I don't know if
their within my price range (1,000 to 1,500). Do you know
where I should look? Also do you have any recommondations
about other nice solid body electrics?

: : do you work for fender?
: : i'm gonna listen to the mp3s 'cause i agree with you.
: I don't work for Fender. I was just bring out some facts, and I love to give praise to a good guitar.
: However, I think there are many good Gibsons, and they are easier to play now than they were a long time ago. Gibson's strong point has always been their clean and pure sweet tone. Fender Dared to be different and give the different sound that is in the telecaster, Stratacaster, and all Fender Guitars
: Fender Tried making a hollow body guitar for a while in the 60s, but it never went over. People love that solid body sound of the Fender. And of course guitar players love that easy to play fast neck that Fender is known for.
: Thanks for the reply.

Re: Fender Guitar
: Hey guys,
Thought I'd jump in here. I've been a studio musician for a long time, and I've owned quite a few instruments..from Gibson, Fender and Guild. I'm semi retired now, play jazz exclusively, and rarely pick up my old Strat favoring my Guild Artist Award. Now, you guys are probably thinking "Hey..you can't play rock on that big box!" And you're right, it's not the right guitar for that, but the Strat is. Strat doesn't feed back, the AA does. Point is I really don't care, because when I play a Gmaj/mi7+, the chord just doesn't ring on the Strat like it does on the AA. Besides, I listen to players you folks either never heard of - or if you did - you probably wouldn't like anyway. Just my two cents, and sorry for the fake handle..I'd really rather stay anonymous.
Happy playing!

please, could anyone tell me if i can use a zoom gfx 707 programs? is it possible or isn't it?and pedal?¿
THANK YOU
okaydokay
yes, all you have to do is buy a smaller lead, and connect from the output of the gfx 707, and then plug that into the input of the MT2, which i assume is some metal distortion. then take a lead from the output of the mt2 into your amp. hit the mt2 when you want some mad distorion compared to the tame stuff u get on the gfx
