If it is the JEM 555 Jr Model - it's fine but is definately of lesser quality than the 777 models. The guitar is excellent for it's price - although I would be tempted to go for a good second hand 777 rather than a new 555. You may have problems with fret buzz on the 555. This is easily rectified by raising the Floyd Rose slightly if you know what you're doing.

Again - go for a 777.

Best is subjective to the style played, but some of my favs are Nokie Edwards of the Ventures, Danny Gatton, all the Hellecasters, Mike Bloomfield, Bugs Henderson, Jimi, and Dave Davies of the Kinks.

Best Guitarist is probably one of the hardest questions asked... When asking you have to determine whether or not they'd be jazz, rock, blues,classical etc.... There is a difference between the most well known, and the most talented. Just because they're famous doesnt mean that nsync is better at singing than Hansi Kursch from Blind Guardian. My preferable listening material is Jimi, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Jimmy Page, and Eddie Van Halen

: a couple years ago a great plains was worth about 1200 for a 75 model, Hold on to it if you have one it is sure to go up over time, as Stuart Mossman has since died and they are now made in sulfer springs tx. New retail for a texas plains model is around 2-3000. Its the same as a great plains. As for worth and price that you could get for it that is realitve to how bad someone wants it, Its as fine of instrument as any martin makes,Mossman just dont have the name or the marketing, hold onto it a winfield mossman is hard to come buy. I feel very lucky to have a 1974 White Plaines model (I think, as it does not actually say it anywhere). It is initialed on the tag inside the guitar with 14 initials, one of whichj is Stuat Mossmans. I would never part with this instrument! When I play it for guitar lovers they melt. It is so wonderful...
Do you know of anyone in the Chicago area that wood be able to do expert repair on the bridge? It has latley lost some volume and their are grooves in the actual bridge from years of string pressure. Will I mess with it's value if I do repairs?
