: Could somebody puh-leeze give me the correct chord changes to Alright Now by Free. For the life of me, I can't get it right. I read an interview by Paul Stanley of Kiss that Paul Kossoff overdubbed guitars to create those changes, but after hearing Paul Rodgers backup group pull it off live (with Howard Leese of Heart as guitarist), I know that you only need one guitar to play it CORRECTLY. HELLLLPPPPP!!!

Have a look around and I'm sure you'll find some footage that you can get an idea from. The film I've seen of them lpaying it Paul was playing a Les Paul through an Orange stack, if I remember correctly. Can't remember the chords without a guitar in my hands but I think you'll find Robb's about right with his answer. I'd also support Ratbox's point as well, though - the experimenting and trying to get it is all part of hte learnign process and will bring you your own things along the way. I know that's not much comfort when you're tearing your hair out trying to work it out, but it is worth remembering.

Are you speaking of scale lengths?
When I built my guitar I just copied from another guitar for placement,(standerd)worked out fine.
Now if you find any other scale lengths other than standered please let me know?
I've read of Steve Via useing a seventeen fret
scale length but can't fint it any where?

The heel is the portion of the neck that joins to the guitar body.
The cutaway is the access provided to the higher frets by building the guitar with an area "cut away" from the body. A les paul has 1 cutaway. An ES-335 has a double cutaway, one on each side of the neck.

Go to the Ovation website they were able to tell me the year,make,cost and what woods were used in it's making. I have a 1979 balladeer and I love it.

I would recommend a new American Strat. The American Series replaced the American Standard series just this year, so either one would be fine. I own two American Standard Strats, one is a '99 Hardtail and the other a 40th Anniversary Strat. The Standards are the best Strats, in my opinion, because when you start changing pickups and stuff like that, you change the original "Strat" tone. Also, the Standards hold their value better than the other modified versions. As far as a pre-'86, if you want original Fender quality you would have to buy a pre-'65. CBS bought Fender in 1965 and the concern became quantity over quality. I would stay away from the CBS years Fenders, ('65-'84). But really anything after that is fine. Fender regained control of its operations at that time and the quality returned. But I would opt for a new Strat because they just keep getting better. And, you can easily buy an American Standard Strat with your given price range,(and even have some money left over to buy some more gear with!)Anyway, I hope this helps, good luck.

Hello. I also have have big hands. The most comfortable Fender neck I've found is the SRV series.

Also look at the strat plus series with the LSR roller nut. That also had a nice neck if I remember correctly.

Personally the neck is the most important part. You can always change the pickups to suit your taste.

After playing hundreds of guitars I've settled on Ibanez. Easiest playing neck for my fingers.

I own a monterey but i dont know if it is a standard,pro,x,,custom as it is silver with two chrome coverd humbuckler pickups but no sustain switch any one know ?

Also what do you think of zoomgfx707 effects unit should i get one or buy seperate stomp box's i want a nice distortion meaty and chunky but also want to get a nice clean sound when needed.

This is a tricky question cause different pickups have
different schemes.Seymore Humb.Green=Hot,Dimarz.Red=Hot
Lawrence Black=Hot.In most cases black wires are ground
wires.Solder this to the tone pot.Try touching the others to the pickup select switch.Use a screw driver
for testing(tap it on p.u.).The if there is buzzing, then pickup is in single coil mode.It's really trial and error,if there's no guide sheet with pickup.

What kind of pickup do you have ? If you have a magnetic pickup in the soundhole then take a look at the Boss Blues Driver, this pedal is amazing. It will give you all of the tones you are looking for. If you have a regular piezo pickup, there is not much you can do. If you want a good jazz tone then look into replacing your piezo with a magnetic pickup.

Don't use pedals much myself, but I do seem to recall noticing a pedal in a shop a while ago which was supposed to give an acoustic guitar sound when you play an electric guitar through it. Don't see why it shouldn't work for bass. I think it was made by Boss, but it might have been DOD. Check out their websites, or a dealer or something. Sorry I can't remember any more than that, but if it works for bass, the thing you're after is out there.

I have a fernandes 5-string bass. It is very solid and you can get great tones out of it. I have played several of their guitars and have been quite impressed. The pickups might be the only thing you may need to replace to beef up the sound,
