The best worn look is the one that comes from natural playing. Doing intentional damage to your guitar seems foolish to me.

My bassist uses a mexican Fender Jazz.It sounds very good,espscially now the pickups are breaking in.

I don't believe that is true, i think a person we have never heard of can't possibly be the greatest rock guitar player! If he or she was the best, then we would have heard of them, right? A person can't possibly be the best rock player and remain anomymous!
I belive there is no real "BEST" player but there is a minute group of elite players. Maybe 10 all time greatest players of rock. I think you can't destingush a best player because there are so many excellent guitarists. (past and present)

There are countless guitar players out there. There are so many players with different styles
and techniques and 98% we will never hear. What I mean is that some of the best musicians
in the world are working people who never made a dime off their music. I believe that it's impossible
to name any one great guitarists just for that reason. There are so many and it we wouldn't
be able to hear them all. Of course I have favorites though, such as Santana, Stephen Stills,
Stevie Ray, Walter Becker, George Harrison, and countless others. But I don't believe that it's fair to name any
one greatest player.

Richie Sambora, Steve Vai, George Lynch.

those three are the best.....they have technique, emotion, and everything that others aspire to be.

You know the deep, thick, chuncky sound of a Marshall amp. I purchased a Marshall JCM 900
, 50 Watt amp, w/2 GT1275 Celestion speakers but the sound was not quite there. He bough
t a Jackson Preformer and added 3 hot EMG pick-ups but we are not yet there. Now, the Amp
has one blown speaker and my question to you is should I get another GT1275 Celestion for
it, by some HOT other speakers, change tubes, sell the combo and get a halve stack or what? Please send a reply, I'm willing to lose a few bucks to get the sound we want.

As most stated, there are a lot of great guitar players out there. But ask rock guitar instructors at reputable colleges and music programs not "Bob's Music Store and Guitar School" on the corner by your house and the same few names will keep coming up. The one that will come up the most is Hendrix. Period. Some others with a few surprises. The biggest surprise would problem be Keith Richards. I never thought much about him until I was forced to listen closely. Pretty cool.

Richie Blackmore, Steve Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Andy Latimer, Snowy White, Mark Knopfler, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix, Django Reinhardt, Terje Rypdal and Peter Green is the greatest guitarists ever. If you know somthing about it you would know.

Oh my god, you want to spend $1500? You can get the top of the line professional instrument for that price. You could get a quality American made used one for a few hundred. Don't get an Ibanez, they are imported junk, new Jacksons are imported unless you custom order one made in the US, and Jacksons these days are junk anyway (IMC bought the company in the late 1980's). Gibsons are OK if that's what you like. I don't care for painted necks and the thick heavy bodies. I used to have a 1978 Gibson SG that played very well. You can get a good USA Fender or a Gibson on Ebay or in a used shop for less than half the price of a new one. If you're going to spend $1500 you could get a new USA Jackson if that's what you want, or seek out a used one. I play "classic" and "modern" rock and I prefer the old American made Kramers. They are selling for a few hundred dollars these days and they are among the highest quality instruments ever made.
