led zeppelin tone
im looking for that zeppelin tone in kashmir (the guitar part). I know most of it is probably do to the danelectro, but could i get close to that twangy sound with a strat copy and a zoom gfx 707?
Re: led zeppelin tone
could you fuck, buy a proper guitar
Re: led zeppelin tone
Play nice, Dale.
Re: led zeppelin tone
: can anyone please email me about what bands used what patches?
Re: led zeppelin tone
well i don't actually own a zoom but i'm planning on buying one and i found a great site for presets:
http://venus.spaceports.com/~gfx707/
it's got one zeppelin tone i'm sure but i'm not sure if it's the one they used on kashmir.
RP2000 Effects board
Well I just recently got my Digitech RP2000, and I think its great. I'm probably not as advanced as i should be to be using such an advanced piece of equipment, but regardless....
I dont really know much about the effects and parameters. I have a general idea, but alot of it confuses me. I was wondering if any other rp2000 users out there could help me out with it
Re: RP2000 Effects board
The concept is simple there are mutiple effect that can be set up and stored and used at the touch of a pedal, the problem is there is a half inch thick tech manul that you need to know first and it is like reading, well a multi effects manual. Don't fret, play with the thing, expierment with it you really can't hurt it so try to take it piece by piece, little by little rather than trying to learn everything at once. I have not played with the RP2000, but have used the Boss GT-3 and other multi efects systems and the same applies "Learn by Doing" and don't be affraid to expierment.
Installing .013-.056's
I am being careful! I have swapped the wound .026 for a plain .024.
The set of D'addarios I have been putting in have been giving me some grief. It's a '76 Ibanez strat clone, with the standard strat style trem. The .013 seems to be unravelling itself from the bead- I though it might be a faulty string, but it's done it twice now...
The nut may need to be widened to accomodate the width of the new strings, since the . I have a set of mini-files, is this a job I could attempt myself? The nut is made from plastic, nylon I think.
all suggestions welcomed!
Re: Installing .013-.056's
First, be sure you want to use these gauge strings for a long time before filing the nut, cause if you don't like the new strings, you'll need a new nut. I would have a tech set your guitar up. not only will the nut have to be filed, but you will need your guitar strobe tuned with the new gauge strings. Good luck.
Re: Installing .013-.056's
if its unraveling at the bead why would you need to file the nut? maybe the problem is down there on the guitar.

Re: Installing .013-.056's
If I can solve my unravelling problem and decide to go ahead with the heavier gauge strings, I'll need to widen the string slots in the nut so they will accept them... one problem after another! The nut looks like it won't fit much heavier than .009-.046...

Is this all my fault for suggesting heavier strings?! God I hope not! I'd suggest having a guitar tech take a look at it and see what s/he thinks. It may well be that your guitar was indeed desinged with far lighter strings in mind, but that would surprise me. How about dropping to 12s or even 11s instead? Presumably you're planning to play the 13s dropped a tone (or semi-tone)? You mmight find that 11s or 12s at normal pitch give you a good tone with less hassle, and you don't need to remember your chords are in different places when you're jamming with people, which was the reason I eventually gave up on dropped tuning. Good luck, anyway.
ESP Lynch still...
still looking for anyone whos has an opinion on the ESP Lynch Skull & Snakes guitar. Thanks.
Re: ESP Lynch still...
George Lynch was one of my favorite metal guitarists EVER- hew as the whole reason I play- oh the guitar sorry- can't comment- sorry man had to throw my 2 cents in there- I wanna hear his new stuff ok I'm done-
Rai
www.simple168.com
Hey Rai...
Do you mean Lynch's "Will Work For Food" new release? I got it yesterday. It's really cool- some very wild playing. My one complaint would be that he plays most of his cover songs note for note- the only things he adds different from the original versions are the solos, and some of those are note for note with the original too. I'd like to see George get a little more free and let loose.

Re: Hey gvoikes
No i actually meant his " Smoke This" release but they could be one in the same- I hate that when you see people you respect on hard times- is it that bad for him? I saw some set up of his- a Soldano, A Triple Rect and Marshall rack stuff- this guy is crazy man...Must be nice to have someone else set your sh*t up.... a boy can dream....
Re: ESP Lynch still...
i have got one, it is superb. low action, beautiful neck, superb sound, and amazing build quality
amps and headphones
OK I have an amp with no headphone jack, but it has a line out. i also have a zoom 707 which has an input and output (the output doubles as a headphone jack). heres my question: could plug a cable into the line out, plug that into the input of the 707, then bypass the 7707, and then just plug my phones into the 707's phone jack? I need some advice before i try this so i dont burn my house down or anything! thanx
Re: amps and headphones
That should work.

which elctric guitar to buy
hello!
i'm looking to buy my first elctric guitar.
i'm play an acustic fender for 8 months.
need a recomendation which guitar tobuy.
thank u!
dror
Re: which elctric guitar to buy
The best thing is to go out and play as many different types and choose what feels right to you. One bit of advice regardless of which type you get it is well advised to get a good quality guitar, don't get a cheap knockoff and don't be afarid to play guitars that are out of your price range this is a good thing to do then you will have an idea of what a real quality guitar feels like vs. a cheap guitar.
Good Luck
Re: which elctric guitar to buy
Your best bet would be to go to a music store and try out as many guitars as you can (in your price range) and then decide. I say "in your price range" because if you pick up an expensive guitar most likely you will not be able to put it down and then you will find that nothing that is affordable to you will ever play as good. (I am assuming you are not a rich millionaire and can afford to buy a guitar that costs several thousand dollars...sorry if I am wrong). Start with somethimg simple. I would suggest a Fender Mexican Strat. They are good first electric guitars. They are well-made and play pretty good. They have a pretty good tone too. Those will cost around $350-400. I hope this helps, Good luck!!!

Should I buy a trem setter for my floyd rose?
I have a floyd rose trem and have found it a hastle to
tune it. I recently read about the trem-setter and am
curious as to if it works.
If anybody has bought the hipshot trem-setter I would
apreciate knowing if it is worth it?
Re: Should I buy a trem setter for my floyd rose?
Had one a couple years back. Put it on my Ibanez. They have a stopping point in the middle that you can feel when you play. Its supposed to be the nuetral stop. I like playing with a little vibrato from my wang bar and the trem-setter made that feel like I was fighting it.
I found out that my tuning problems were due to the fact that my trem springs were old and my nut was moving around.
My new yamaha has a floyd that I almost NEVER tune.
Throw it in the car, go to the gig and it is still in tune. It can even handle wang bar drops to the point where the strings are flapping.
Re: Should I buy a trem setter for my floyd rose?
I have one in my Jackson Soloist. It does stabilize the tuning. The only thing bad that I can say is that it also tightens up the whammy bar so you have to use more effort. It is a trade off. If you bash a lot of chords rather than pure lead playing it is definately a good product.
Hey Leo, I need your advice.
What would my 1977 "Tele" be worth in 10 years,'cause I would like to hand it down to my 7 yr. old son when I'm ready to stop playing. I'm only 36 and I'm an average player, and I'm thinking of him in the future, like 36 yrs. from now if I live that long.
Re: Hey Leo, I need your advice.
its worth about 700 now..in 10 years...who can say? if some guitar hero comes out playing a 70's tele it could be worth alot...if not...i doubt it would be worth all that much more.

Parker Fly Guitars
Anyone have a good idea on the breadth of sound on these guitars? I hear they can go from Strat like to humbucker crunch. Any oppinions would be appreciated.
Dennis
Re: Parker Fly Guitars
every thing you have heard is true (about your wife that is)
Re: Parker Fly Guitars
The Parker is truly a great guitar. They play and sound very similar to a Fender. One of the things I like about them is that they are very versatile, which is partly why they can be compared to the Strat. What makes them (dare I say) better is that they also have piezos on the bridge to offer an accoustic sound. (There's the whole steroe deal, so you can play two different sound through two different amps). But you're not restricted to using the piezos just for the acoustic sound. Since they don't produce feedback like a regular acoustic, you can play through and electric amp. In fact, you can combine both the magnetic pickups with the piezos to get a wide variety of sound. You can find more about how to do this by visiting the parkerguitars.com site and looking under the section "Benefits and Applications of a Mag/Piezo System."

Hi Dennis, I can tell you that I use my Parker Fly Classic at the gig and the sounds I get are so huge and the variety is enormous. I play the magnetic pick-ups through a Line 6 Flextone II which by itself is a real kicker, and I send the Accoustic side through a
Gallien Kruger Guitar Amp with a Yamaha 4x10 Cabinet.
The Sound is just enormous, and it gets real crazy when I put it through the PA. To sum it up...I could never go back to my old guitars. Nothing Plays like a Parker Fly Guitar

Hand sweat=Broken strings
My strings keep on corroding and then breaking right at the bridge. I clean them often but they keep breaking.I use DR tite-fit 11's and have tried other strings also. Is there a really strong string out there that is able to resist corrosion better or some sort of special cleaner.please help.--Sweaty Palms
Re: Hand sweat=Broken strings
how long on they on the guitar before they break? if not long it might be a problem with the brigde. if they are on a long time when they break then they are just old and tired

Is it always the same string, or are you breaking different ones? It sounds to me like there maybe a little burr - you know, a little rough edge to the metal - on your bridge. I don't think you're going to get anywhere looking for extra-strong strings - I've certainly never heard of any. Could you borrow a guitar for a while and see if the same problem occurs with that one? Then you'll know if its your guitar rather than the strings. A guitar tech could probably file the bridge smooth for you, if you weren't comfortable doing it yourself You could replace it, but that would obviously be a more expensive option.

MY FIRST TIME
WHEN I TRIED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME , IT REALLY HURT, BUT AFTER A WHILE MY HAND STOPPED HURTING. ANY ADVICE ON WARM UP EXERCISES BEFORE I PLAY THE GUITAR
Re: MY FIRST TIME
The more you play, the less your hand(s) will hurt. Your muscles aren't used to the motion of playing guitar. Just play more. Good luck
