Re: single coil or humbucker

: if you want your more "bright sounding" music, stick with a single coil pickup arrangment of some kind. I have two guitars, and one has the humbuckers for the deep, distorted sound. i use the other with the single coiled pickups for the brighter cleaner sounding stuff.

I don't play clean all to much. I use distortion, I just mean that it is a brighter distortion instead of a dark sounding metal distortion.

100w tube amp

i want a tube amp with about 100watts, any suggestions?

Guyatone MMX Metal Monster

Please, please, please, can anyone get Guyatone MMX Metal Monster printed circuit or even schematic for me???

tube amps again

i was thinkin about buying one of teh following: the Fender Twin, Fender Twin Reverb, Fender twin reverb II, Fender super twin, Fender twin reverb :WHATS THE DIFFERENCE, price, sound quality, reliability, features, etc

Re: tube amps again

: Fender Twin-standard, modern 2x12 100w, two channel
This has come in many different incarnations as astandard Fender model for almost 35 years.
Fender Twin reverb-Reissue 2x12 100w two channel(but not dist/clean, two separate channels. Old style
Fender Super Twin: Do they still make this? This is a 180w Twin Reverb. 6 poer tubes, but evidently not that much louder.(Fender in the 60's and 70's built in extra power to, ironically, make the amp quieter)

You can't go wrong with nearly any Fender Twin(as long as it has been cared for). Just try before you buy.
The later twins will have channel switching(clean/distortion) and some may feature some on board effects. Hope this helps.

UNKNOWN MARTIN??

i recently purchased a used martin&co. guitar, but i cant find anything about it on the net, so i was wondering if anyone knew anything. i believe the model name is a goya. i also think it once was an electric/acoustic, but the previous owner remoed all the electronics. the model number is G330S. theres not much else i know about it. if anyone has any clue to what it is, a reply would be largely appreciated. or feel free to email me. thanks

Re: UNKNOWN MARTIN??

: I'm a bit confused...
If it says Goya on it and not Martin....I think you got a Goya that looks like a Martin. I'm not even sure that model # is right for a Martin. Don't they start with D's? D-28, D-18,etc.

Re: UNKNOWN MARTIN??

Did you ever find out anything about this guitar? I just received the same guitar-- G.S MArtin-- Goya G330S. There's still nothing on the web about it. Thanks.

Re: UNKNOWN MARTIN??

I have the same guitar. It is a Korean made Martin, that is a step below the normal Martins. However my guitar sounds excellent, and I am not willing to trade it for anything. I'm looking for some specs on it though. If anybody knows the bridge width, let me know.

POD 2!!!

how's this pod2? worth buying? can play metallica? can i use it for guitar without guitar amp(keyboard amp....or PA)?

Crossroads

Here is my problem.
For a long time I'm trying to find out the name of the man who played Mozart's Rondo alla Turca (Turkish March). You know that scene when Eugene(Ralph Macchio) is playing classical guitar in the school and then he plays a part of the tune. Now, I know for sure that it wasn't played by Steve Vai or Ray Cooder.

Re: Crossroads

: Rent the movie and slo-mo the credits. It should list all the info...

Re: Crossroads

The trouble is that I can't find the movie anywhere...

Re: Crossroads

: Ok, I smoked up and his name came to me.
William Kannesinger. He and Arlen Roth coached Macchio and played his parts in the movie.
He looks like Sallah from Raiders of the Lost Ark...Far out man.

PS: Seriously

Channel switching or single channel with a good stomp box?

Just wondering which you guys are using and what seems to work out better in your experience.

Hey man,

I started out loving pedals, but then my gear got stolen, and I was stuck with my little Peavey Classic 20.

I have never had such a great tone!

I was using a Tech 21 XXL and a Boss Turbo Distortion, but nothing compares to the tone of my little amp wound flat out! I get different tones, clean and distorted by adjusting my technique and the volume control. If I need even more grit, I'll borrow my friend's Ibanez TS9 Tubescreamer as a gain booster.

In comparison to the pedals I have used, the tone I get now is more open and lively, 'loud' sounding. It also means I have to be more dynamic as a player to get the best from it, which is heaps of fun once you're used to it!

Re: Channel switching or single channel with a good stomp box?

i found this 8 years ago, the distortion sound from the amp seems to be much more better than those expensive pedals~~~~

the multieffect's distiortion seems to be powerful but it sounds systhesis..

Anyone live in Bangor or Brewer Maine. Le'ts jam.

Hi,my name is Nils and I'm 36 years old. I enjoy music from the 50s, 60s 70s, 80s and most of the 90s. I don't like rap, heavy metal or the backstreet boys. I enjoy some country; however rock in roll is my beat. I sing and I would like to write music. I play a '77 Telecaster. I'm not much of a lead guitarist but I can keep a rhythm. Let me know if you want to get together and trade ideas.

Re: where is the best store to buy guitar in UK?

: Ok I am now in Sydney[aus] and I lived in Manchester, However, i have always found satisfaction at 'johnny roadhouses' on oxford street in M/C
I have been playing for over 25 years and have constantly shopped here. Sometimes you have to go back and re-check, but they are always open to a deal and are great with their knowledge etc.
i suppose it depends if you wish to buy a 'new' one, or are looking to cash in on the fact that 'here is a guitar i want that someone has already lost the purchase- garbage- value of'.
Sorry don't know south , but as a playwer and buyer ;johnny Roadhouse' `takes some beating [and i have shopped ALL over the north]i would visit, but then i now live in aus' where a 400k trip for the day is fine!!
Not sure if that helps, don't know who works there now, except JR's son, john, but it is worth a 'phone call and a visit.
My favourite guitars were bought there and I have yet to bo sorry i spent the money,
Good luck.David

epiphone les paul question...

hey guys,

i'm shoppin' for a used ELP. are the model year, model number and stuff like that printed on the guitar? where do i look for them? the neck? the back? let me know pls..

Re: epiphone les paul question...

You can get infos on the date of production by looking at the back of the headstock.
The first and fifth number stamped on will give the first and second number of the production year. EX: 98076435 : 1996
