Joe, thanks for your reply. A good question! How old is it? I've seen one on a website in W. Virginia which is $1599.
Of course, on top of that, I have to add shipping / insurance, and then UK Customs add on another 21%!
I'm really looking for one a bit cheaper than that.

Information on the Bajo Sexto is very little to non.
I live here in San Antonio, Tx and there is a lot of conjunto music here and the Bajo Sexto is a very big part of this kind of music and I have not been able to find the same thing that you are asking for. I found some musicians that play the Bajo Sexto that have taught me some cords. What I have found is a Video tape that gives some instructions cords teaches you a couple of songs etc. I found a small instructional booklet from mexico that has some information. If you want send me an E-mail to [email protected] and I can give you the information that I have gotten todate. Hope this helps

There is a video by Joe Torres and Two by Rogelio Maya.
Rogelio also puts out an instuctional booklet called "Acordes Y progresiones" Para bajo sexto.
Rogelio's instructional aids can be purchased at Mayasmusic.com. Joe Torres video is afford by various websites. Try mel bay.

Yes and yes.

Soldanos are based off of the Marshall JCM era. I think Soldanos are the most underrated amps ever. I own 2 soldano's and want more! They are a bit pricy but worth it. The Atomic is an affordable soldano. About 20 Watts of pure tone. This is almost the exact circuit of a marshall jcm800 with el84s. This is my favorite amp of all time.

I tried this amp yesterday at Guitar Center and I really hope it's not like a Marshall! I have a Marshall and want to get rid of it! I did, however, like the Hot Rod...it has the beefy, grumbly distortion I need!

recently i bought a jay turser 335 knockoff.
no big deal right??
wrong!!!
i got to tell you this thing is incredible!!!
it's a half inch deeper than a gibson which produces a wicked tone
and it has an inlay done to perfection and i do mean perfection!!!
unfortunatly i have no info on this guitar except
that the last 3 numbers in the stamp on the inner block of maple are 001.
iv'e looked everywhere for another to no avail
if someone knows how i can find out more about this guitar let me know.
1 more thing
the next time your shopping do yourself a favor don't just walk by the tursers
try them out you might get as lucky as i did
keep layin them down and bending them up!!!

Hey,
Grooved Tubes numbers their tubes 1-10. The lower the number, the higher the gain. They are a bit more expensive then other tubes but I think they are better. What kind of amp are you using?
Also, try a quality boost pedal(I use a zvex super hard on. It makes my el84s sing!) or hotter pickups.

Depending on the amp a rebias should run you between 20 to 60 us dollars.

I have a GT-3 and I love it. If you learn to mess with the settings you can get any sound that you want, forget the stomp boxes.

Hi Ivan! I'm Ivan2

I don't have one but lo and behold I just got back from the music store comparing them.

Both sounded good although I thought the GT-3 sounded just slightly better for some reason.

The RP2000 can do the "stompbox mode" where the pedals will turn effects on/off. That's nice but I didn't see a way to get into this mode with reaching down and pushing a tiny button. I really don't want to have to do this in a live situation.
I didn't see the stompbox mode on the GT-3. If it has it, it looks like it would have the same problem.

The RP2000 has two "channels" on each preset. I liked this. There was some noticeable delay though between presets and less, though still some, between the channel switches. This bugs me because I may jump from a chord to a lead instantly and I don't want a "moment of silence" cancelling some of my notes. The GT-3 may have had a little delay but it was marginally acceptable.

Another thing that bothered me about the RP2000 was that though the pedals are the same distance center to center as the ones on the GT-3, they are wider and I found myself going into tuning or bypass mode when I just wanted to change the preset. I bumped around on the GT-3 a little also but there was no consequence like dropping the sound entirely.

The GT-3 has a more straightforward layout with separate pedals for bank up/down. The RP2000 has you hold the bank up pedal to bank down and then it begins to scroll through the banks. Yikes.

The RP2000 has no effects loop as does the GT-3. The effects loop might be a good place for your boxes.

Overall, I prefered the GT3 for its pedal layout and sound although I kind of like the RP2000 wah and yahyah (and it has this talking thing I didn't try but seems interesting).

For live, I have to consider the pedal layout and the delay when switching between presets. If this doesn't apply to you, the RP2000 has some neat features that the GT-3 doesn't.

The tuner on the RP2000 just didn't work well. At all.

The Zoom GFX-8 is worth a look. It gets higher ratings from its users than any of the other modeling preamps including the GT-3 and POD. Just look at the user reviews at harmony-central.com.

Most say that the distortion is better than the GT-3, The sound is more natural, and someone said it comes with a 3-year warranty.

I'll definitely check it out before considering the GT-3.

I just went through the same deal.....comparing POD, Jstation, RP2000, and the GT3.......and the winner is.........RP2000.....they all have their drawbacks but the ones that were pointed out by the previous post were not even an issue for me.....my tuner seems to work flawlessly, I have no noticable pause between patches....and the best thing about the RP2000 is the stompbox setup, once you get the user presets programed for some really usable sound its really easy to use....the problem is that the factory presets are WAY too much of everything(like they wanted to show you all the fx at one time).....I spent hours and hours locked in a room at Mars experimenting with all of them and thats the only way to find out which one is best for YOU.....and be sure to take your own guitar and amp so you can really find out what its gonna sound like

You made the wrong choice, the GT-3 is much better. Not only does it have more effects but it is better quality and more durrable
