Humidifier for Tacoma Chief
I recently acquired a Tacoma Chief, and am wondering
if anyone has advice on a humidifier. I would normally
get one that fits in the sound hole, but unless Tacoma
makes one especially for the Chief, I don't think that's
possible. Would appreciate advice and your experience.
trying to find right sound somewhere between a real chunky metal sound ie Fearfactory and pantera an
i am currently using a 100 Watt Jcm 900 hundred converted to sound more like an JCM 800 a boss metal zone and a boss eqaulizer pedal and a strat with adimarzio tone zone pipck up. Just wondering if anyone knows of any good settings i could use to get a reall heavy sound but no so heavy if you know what i mean

Re: trying to find right sound somewhere between a real chunky metal sound ie Fearfactory and panter
I was looking for the same sound for a while. So I started playing around with a few stomp boxes. I play on a combo amp, a marshall vs265r the distortion is nice and all but sometimes I needed more out of it. I use the following to get that sound. I put jim dunlop fuzz face (the one hendrix use to use) that goes into a lovetone brown source pedal to get the thick bass feel to it and then an eq set to a smiley face type of setting it works wonders. The lovetone's gonna set you back a couple hundred but believe me it is very worth the price!!!!! Hit me back and let me know what you think.

Re: trying to find right sound somewhere between a real chunky metal sound ie Fearfactory and panter
: I think you are going to be ditching the pedals. I know what you are looking for, all out crunch with some defining cleaness to make it more massive. I think you should try going straight into your amp and playing with the other channels. Your Marshall should be able to get thi sound. you'll have to play with it though. And expect to find this sound at an extemely high volume when the tubes are working hard.
Re: trying to find right sound somewhere between a real chunky metal sound ie Fearfactory and panter
yeah your right with what im looking for but it seems to become too muddy and not quite enough distirtion when i use the just the marshall sound although i was thinking of using just the marshall sound and the eqaulizer or maybe getting just an overdrive pedal to just put a little bit of extra distortion into the sound. What do you think ?

Re: trying to find right sound somewhere between a real chunky metal sound ie Fearfactory and panter
i think you should try another pickup .... maybe emg 81 or 85 and tune youre guitar 2 steps down on ´d´and you will get crounch fat distorted sound and of course , play that loud and proud .
Re: trying to find right sound of pantera distortion

Hello,
May I have some oppinions on the Mesa/boogie Amps? Very general question, Not looking to buy one, just want some thoughts please
Thanks,

Re: Mesa/Boogie Amps
Mesa/Boogie makes ultra high quality, awesome sounding amplifiers. You can get just about any tone you want, and if it breaks (how far did you drop it to break it anyway? They're built like tanks) they have great service. They have one of the best customer service departments I've ever dealt with.
You can check out reviews at http://www.harmony-central.com/ All sorts of players rate equipment.

I've been playing a mark IV for a few years and it does everything I want. Everyone I know that uses Mesa Boogie is real happy with them. Top notch equipment.

Need Guitar Buying help, PLZ READ!
Ok, I am like, the ultimate metallica/jimi hendrix fan, now ive been playing ugitar for about 2 years and i am now serious about guitar being my like, now, i can get by around $1400 to spend on a guitar, i want a guitar that could make the metallica sound, but have jimi hendrix blues to it as well, plz help me about, name the brand and name

:!st. The amp you ultimately use will have a lot to do w/the sound. Metallica drop tunes 1/2 step, which affects the overall sound of them. Hendrix "mainly" used a Strat through Marshalls. But,TO ME, he sounded lousy live. You can go with a Strat that offers some sort of Humbucker at the bridge position, or IMHO,better yet, a PRS Custom 24,or, better YET, a McInturff Polaris Pro. The PRS is the most expensive, a nice axe,but I don't like the pups. The McInturff has a LOT going for it in this price range. Hope this helped.
Re: Need Guitar Buying help, PLZ READ!
: You've got some cash to spend! I think you should buy two guitars. A Fender Stratocaster(for $750-900 you could get an American Hendrix Model) and a humbucker equipt axe like an ESP for your Kirk Hammett jones. 1400 is enough to buy one really nice guitar or two nice guitars that do different things. Check Gbase.com. Type in what you want and sit back!
Re: Need Guitar Buying help, PLZ READ!
O>K well with that kind of cash , you can by a nice PRS guitar that will give you both worlds and i am sure you'll have about 2-300$ left rig it withone humbucker and two single coils, preferably (seymour duncans) and voila you will have an awsome axe dude.

well if youve been playing for 2 years you should know the difference between a great feeling guitar and a mediocre one......now go try every brand out there in your price range and you can narrow down to what FEELS the best......my choice just happeneed to be a Les Paul.....which also holds its value.....but it is also heavy as hell........with the technology today youll be able to get any sound you want with the flip of a switch on a nice processor....or by changing the pickups

It is real hard to get 2 great sounds in one (do it all guitar). You have enough money to buy a metal guitar and a strat or check out the Fender Lonestar Strat. Good luck.
accoustic guitar help....
I am looking to buy a new accoustic guitar and am not sure what I want. I am not looking to spend more than $400-500, so I was just curious if anyone had any suggestions. Thanks.
Re: accoustic guitar help....
Martin makes a DM series acoustic that sounds great. I think Guitar Center has them for $500-600. Guild makes good acoustics in your price range, (though I personally don't care for Guilds) Might want to check out an Alvarez too. Pick one that YOU like, not what everybody else says you should buy. Good luck.
Re: accoustic guitar help....
Get yourself a Seagull S6 or M6 . Its the best sounding guitar below $ 400, hands down. I have one and it easily keeps up with the cheapo Martins. Ask anyone who knows both, you'll be excited.
electronic tuners
i have been playing guitar for years [50]mainly for pleasure, but recently have started experimenting with open tuning and bottleneck. the old ears are not as good as they used to be,i think i need a electronic tuner. can anyone advise me of the best brand to buy.
Re: electronic tuners
There are many to choose from. I personally like the ones with LED lights instead of the needle display. Don't spend more than $30 - $40. Boss makes good ones as well as Sabine. Make sure that you get a chromatic tuner. This type will allow you to tune to any note. Some guitar tuners only allow for standard tuning EADGBE.
Re: electronic tuners
i used to use those with needle ,but it's not so good...the LED one ok,but more expensive,.
now i just use the tuner on the multieffect-rp-100, easy to use, no extra money spent, yet chromatic tuner...
somore, mutlieffect come with noise gate, amp simulater, pickup simulator. i used it as a preamp with my pedals

:I highly recommend contacting Fargen Amplification. Fargenamps.homestead.com. He makes a 30 watt Plexi head at a REASONABLE price. That is, if you're not in a hurry. I got my combo from him 2 weeks ago.He built this amp from ideas' I had in my head, and made it work! You can read reviews of other amps he built for people on Harmony Central review section. Good luck.
Re: help needed about amps....please help
Why don't you try a Boss heavy metal pedal(or other brand) through a medium priced amp at the music store ? Since you want to play at lower volumes, a good distortion pedal may be all you need.
Re: help needed about amps....please help
Go and find a shop with a Tech21 trademark 60 and try it out or better still get one of the assistants to demo it for you.
