master of puppets rhythm tone?

i've never been a big fan of metallica but i always thought this lp had a nice resonant, deep rhythm tone. anyone know what the key is to getting a nice beefy, clear rhythm tone like is? is it in the guitar (body wood, pickups, bridge) or is it more in the amp? in other words, can i get a tone similar to this with an ash or alder bodied guitar (esp ltd h-200)?

Tokai guitar

I have got a Tokai Goldstar Sound strat with maple neck

Guitar trick

Anyone know how to make your guitar talk? If you do could you show me?

Re: Guitar trick

: Anyone know how to make your guitar talk? If you do could you show me?

You Need to get a weird device called a talk box. I have an old one by Heil. Then, prepare yourself for the Peter Frampton comments.

Re: Guitar trick

Hey, go to Yahoo! and look up " talk box"
it's a lot safer to make your own one too, you can really mess up your amp with a Heil one.

is it safe to CHECK IN the guitar (with hardcase) when travelling using aeroplane?

i really worry about it..

Re: is it safe to CHECK IN the guitar (with hardcase) when travelling using aeroplane?

It's usually safe. But Calzone cases are the best way to
go.Take off your strings, before flying.Wrap the case with duct tape and wrap the neck with a small towel. I also, have an insurance policy when I have to travel by
plane.But thats just me.
Good Luck

I always call ahead to see what kind of plane or jet Im gonna be flying on and ask about storing your guitar.....some times itll fit into an over head....sometimes they have a vertical storage locker......Ive even strapped into a seat that was unoccupied.....but I always check it at the gate if it has to be put in with all the luggage that way it doesnt get bounced around getting to the plane and they give it right back at the gate sometimes when you get off....just depends on the attitudes and the airline......oh yea and everything that Eddie said is a good idea but Ive never done any of that and have had no problems....and the key is to tell them how valuable that it is and that it needs special care...most times the stewardess will bend the rules a little for you.....godd luck....Trip

multi-effect actually turn any speaker(including pc speaker) into a guitar amp????

?

Why the distortion on multi effect sounds much more powerful than pedals???

unless u got those expensive tube amp ...from what i see, multi-effect into a mini combo or practice amp always soundmore powerful

Re: Why the distortion on multi effect sounds much more powerful than pedals???

That is usually true. The reason is because when you are using a processor, those sounds are pre-set. If you have a decent practice amp, they will sound good. The tones in the amp will suck if it isn't a quality amp.

Re: Why the distortion on multi effect sounds much more powerful than pedals???

Yes, a processor sounds more powerful, but in a band situation it usually blows. Especially with a small amp.

Re: Why the distortion on multi effect sounds much more powerful than pedals???

Multi pedals sound more powerful because they're digital, cleaner. But with a power drummer they can get
squashed by the cymble rides and crashes.Multi. things
also have they're own preamps,E.Q.'s,ect.,ect.

Midiman AUDIOPHILE 2496.

i am thinking of using it to record guitar and vocal for demo, pls advise...thanks

any special effect on RP-100?

.

PORTA 2....

how good is it? i got one and find the recording for vocal is pretty poor...pls advise and recommend the optimum use of this device...thankQ

Re: PORTA 2....

Hmm.I use a Porta 1.I found that vocals and bass can be a pain in the ass!Take off 60% of bass on vocals. YOU NEED TO USE A COMPRESSOR!Vocals and Bass will peak all over the place. Also, use a graphic E.Q. before the compressor to shape the vocal tone.
Hope this helps

Re: PORTA 2....

I also use a porta one. Most users record vocals dry & add effects after. I found I could enhance the finished vocals by running the vocal mic into a delay device while recording the vocals instead of recording them dry & adding it later. (Just a little delay) The only bad part is if you use too much delay, your stuck with it on tape unless you re-record your vocals. I have it down to a science so I don't need a compressor. I record with the on-board EQ flat, so I can add highs and/or lows when mixing down.(I do this for all instruments too) The more you use your Porta 2 the better you'll get. Watch your VU meters, they should only occaisonally go in the red. Good luck

Pickup Repair

I just bought a 1951 Supra lap steel guitar and am having trouble with the pickup.
I have a little knowledge of humbucker and fender pickups but this one is pretty primitive
I believe. When i play plugged in, the third and sometimes fourth strings are inaudible.
Here is my poor description of the pickup: underneath the strings is the normal plate with
the six tiny screws. On either side of the plate is two magnets(imagine a two holed brick
cut down the middle). On top of the brick shaped magnets is another plate, a credit card
shaped metal piece with three holes on one side and three holes on the opposite. When
disassembled all six strings are audible, but at some point when the magnets and plate are
screwed in using four screws, the string just becomes dead. If anybody has any suggestions
I would be grateful.

Voodoo Lab Pedal Power

Hi people

I want to buy the voodoo labs pedal power but i am not sure if it can power my Electro Harmonix pedals (Small stone, Big muff). Does anyone know about if it does??

Re: Voodoo Lab Pedal Power

The Voodoo Labs will power anything supposedly according to the company- I haven';t come across one pedal it hasn't - I use it on EH Small Clone and MY EH Bad Stone-(Battery Clip) You may have to buy a different adpaptor as the ones they give most of are for the boss Style adpators- Open the box when you buy one and you'lls ee what I mean- but a very worthwhile investment overall- made my life 100.000000000X easier.

Setting up a Floyd Rose Tremelo System

Hey there. Here's the thing. I've got an Ibanez RG470BK with a LO-TRS trem. When I change my strings, I manage to do it alright. I like to play with a low string action. Normally, I hardly get any buzz, except on the fourth fret on the fourth string. I always get a buzz there. Can anybody tell me why? Should I raise the action? Does my guitar need fretwork? And second, I'm not sure how to set up the intonation on my guitar properly. I've heard that if you mess around with the string action (like I have) that messes up the intonation. Should I send my guitar to a tech? Can anybody help me with this problem? Feedback is welcome. Thanks

Re: Setting up a Floyd Rose Tremelo System

When doing ANY adjustment on a Floyd, do yourself a favor and let a tech do the adjustment. It will save you alot of headache and frustration.

Re: Setting up a Floyd Rose Tremelo System

Not at all ... providing you know the basics of setting up a bridge. The trick to dealing with Floyds is to treat it like a fixed bridge guitar. You first put a block of wood in the guitar to hold the bridge in it's desired final rest position (depending on the guitar style and version of Floyd you use, the two easiest places to consider are under the back end of the bridge in the scooped out cavity on the surface of the guitar or in between the metal block under the bridge and the guitar body through the underside of the guitar). Assuming you are starting with a set up that is close to what you want, you use a block that just fits, and is not being held in place with much force when your bridge is floating, but does not allow much room for play either. Then slightly tighten the screws on the springs so that the block is held firmly in place (if you are going from lighter guage strings to heavier guage strings, tighten it a bit more). At this point you can do pretty much anything you want, including playing with saddle heights, intonation etc - in fact you take all the damn strings off at once and give the neck a good clean without worry! After your new strings are in place AND BEFORE SCREWING DOWN THE LOCKING NUT, make sure things are in tune using your tuning machines (and leave all your fine tuners at about the 1/4 to half way point so you can later use them to raise pitch more than to lower it). Give the srings a good stretch and retune (and repeat) until there is no more detuning caused by stretching the strings, and then begin gradually lossening the screws on the springs until there is almost no tensionleft on the block. At this point slide the block out, do one last tuning with your tuning machines, and then clamp the nut. You should end up with a set up where your bridge is at the correct playing angle (flat surface of the underside of the bridge parallel to the surface of the guitar), perfectly in tune, and perfectly intoned.

This process may sound complicated but it is actually quite simple once you get the right block and it allows you to change a set of strings and be back in perfect pitch in about 5-10 minutes (i.e. same as a fixed bridge guitar). This approach avoids the seemingly endless tweeks to set up a floyd if you do so leaving the whole system floating.

guitar polish

how long should i polish my guitar? any recommendation for the polishing materials? liquid...spray??thanks

Re: guitar polish

How long? Until it is clean. I prefer the Martin spray. It shines up really well and it smells clean too. Also, it doesn't leave a noticeable film on the guitar like other polishes do.

I don't care for the new Martin polish that comes in a green bottle - the old 'blue and white' variety
didn't seem so greasy and hard to buff up nicely. Are there more than one variety of
Martin polish being sold?
Thanks - Louis

I personally like Ax Wax (from dMS) that stuff rocks!
Lasts alot longer than anything I used before. 1 little bottle is like a lifetime supply.
