Re: FENDER HM STRAT
Check out eBay. They had one yesterday. Do you know there are both USA and Japan HM Strats? If you want the uSA make sure it's legit.

Re: FENDER HM STRAT
Did you ever find a Fender HM strat? I have one for sale on Ebay right now - it is a Japanese, but in very good condition (except for a 1" chip on the body). I am the original owner and have had it since around '93ish when I bought it brand new.

Re: FENDER HM STRAT
If you are still looking, they still come up on Ebay (one's up for the 3rd time) not a bad price but it's been "modified".

: HI, EVERYONE, I'M Playing A FENDER HM STRAT but I'M looking for more information about the pichups of this guitar. I chanched the tremolo and it's now a Floyd Rose Low Pro Edge and the neck-pickup is now a Dimarzio Fastrack II. The last 12 frets are scaloped (like Malmsteen and Vai).

Tele Bridge
Howdy folks.
I'm looking for a special type Tele replacement bridge. The allen screws in the saddles should sit in grooves in the base plate so that they don't shift sideways when encontering heavy handed playing. I think several manufactuers made these a while back, but I can't seem to find one. Oh yeah, black chrome is a must!
BC RICH NJ VIRGIN
i was wondering if anyone here has ever played the nj virgin. im sure it wont stack up to my les paul, but its the coolest guitar ive seen, especially for a metal head.
Re: BC RICH NJ VIRGIN
it will not, its a kind poorly made guitar (made of something like luthite artificial wood used by Ibanez) and the pickups are poor quality (EMG selects) good upgrading guitar tho, change the pickups and pots it'll do fine but wont beat a les paul
help!
I bought an Ibanez RG7420 7 string not too long ago, abd I need to re-string it, but I cant figure out how in the hell to do it. Any players out there that can help me? It would be much appreciated.
Re: help!
Dude, you have to get an allen-key that will fit the the screws on the locking nut. loosen them. loosen the strings with the tunning keys. use the same allen key to loosen the locking mechanism on the bridge and pull the sting out. re-string it. let the strings stretch for about a day before you re-lock the nut.
Hope it helped...

Patching inputs
What's the principle behind diagonal patching on
a 4 input valve amp (two by two inputs)? Are
there limitations on when and with what it can
be done?

begining playing chords?
I'm just starting to play the guitar but am having great difficulty playing any chords how long does it take to learn a chord for total beginers, are my nails to long (I've cut them as short as I can!). Even spending time trying to get my fingers in the right places the chords sound flat my fingers are touching other strings let alone strumming from chord to chord. does it just take practice or what? any info or advice would be appreciated
Re: begining playing chords?
Practice, practice, practice. The more you practice the easier it gets.
Re: begining playing chords?
Practice for 2 hr a day with G A D C Em in their open position & in 6 weeks you will strum them easily. After this go to bar chords try to get F, & then you will learn chords in seconds. A great song to start with is luck man by the verve. It starts G - just to 2 downward strums, then D - just to 2 downward strums then A - which has about 4 strums. This goes around about 5 times then us Em, G, D, A for the chorus. After a couple of weeks you will nail these chords & will develope a strumming style to match the song & hey presto your playing a song. Guitars are very, very easy to play, it's practicing that's hard. When practicing just remember, the road to ruin is paved with good intentions! Amen.

Brent mason(country) is the best guitarist I've heard in a long time. I recently won instrumentalist of the year for the country in the nationals in Las Vegas playing one of his songs. Hotwired is the best song. Also "nervous breakdown" by brad paisley and "roller coaster" by keith urban. You may not appreciate country, but this stuff is absolutely UNREAL!!
Re: impressive guitarists
Man if u want a REAL guitar player Learn some 'Joe Satriani' some famous guitar songs by him are The Forgotten , Midnight , and Tears in the Rain, if u can play Midknight u must be an alien
Re: impressive guitarists
Stevie Ray Vaughn comes to mind. The solos on the songs "Crossfire" or "Tightrope" off his "In Step" CD
are still some of my favorites. Check out the band
"Dream Theater" too.

Hey if you want some excellent solo's to learn check out Mark Knopfler of Dire straits! Or Brian May has some really creative stuff as well. Clapton's rediscovery of the blues is also a good listen to learn from......
I'd stay away from Vai/Malmsteen etc. They're very technical and good players, but in my opinion the best playing comes from within.

Re: impressive guitarists
Frank Zappa, too many to list my favs are black napkins, muffin man, city of tiny lights. If you are new to the world of Zappa then listen to the strictly commercial album for a taster. As he did make over 250 albums, he is without doubt the best guitarists ever born, some are faster (slightly) but Frank can play any style from rock to jazz to bebop. Every guitarists should have at least some Zappa music. Phil G

Re: impressive guitarists
Ray Gomez,"School Days"(Stanley Clarke),The guitar dual
between Neil Schon and Ray Gomez,"And We Meet Again"
(Lenny White).Tommy Bolin,"Quadrant 4"(Billy Cobham).
I really like Mike Hampton's solo on the Live Dr.Funkenstein, well constructed, kinda bluesy and kinda
pretty in section 2.My favorite solo's are the simple ones,so I didn't list them.
Thanx
Re: impressive guitarists
Eddie who is Ray Gomez, how old is he, & what is his style of playing. I have over 1300 albums but I have never heard of this guy. I am only asking because I am interesed in having a listen, but I wouldn't want to get the ablum if it was a mix of indian dog culture, crossed with icelandic folk dance, if you know what I mean. If you could give a bit of backround & maybe what albums to look out for. Cheers mate Phil G

Re: impressive guitarists
Ray Gomez was a Fusion cat back in the day.He did work
with Stanley Clarke,Lenny White,Narada Walden and a host of others.I think he's been out of circulation these days, but he was a huge influence on me.Steve Khan
John Tropea,Cornell Dupree,Icarus Johnson and Lee Ritenour(Captain Fingers)were also big names of 70's fusion. Most of the stuff Ray Gomez played on was some
baddass fusion classics. He also did guitar tracks for
Cat Steven's "Was dog a Dounut",a big Funk/Disco hit.
Re: impressive guitarists
Ray Gomez... surely the most ignored guitar player, among the great ones! I think he is one of the best, I'd say... Beck, Santana, Van Halen... and Ray Gomez, among others, of course. Or should I say Ray Gomez in first place?
I've been looking for records with his playing in for years, I've been at some gigs... emotion at its maximum level. He impressed me so much that i was for one or two hours after the gig wandering around the city, trying to recover.. serious! He's the essence, the heart of the real thing in rock, jazz, soul, r'n'b... energy!!!

Re: impressive guitarists
What style are you looking for? Do you want stuff that is technically difficult to improve you picking or some interesting phrasing and such?
As for difficult stuff to learn to improve your playing the Satrianis Zappas and Vai's are ok. I prefer to learn Chuck Schundler(Death) and Fredrik Thordendal(Meshugga) to improve my chops.
As for original interesting playing to improve you creativity, Ty Tabor(Kings X), Denis D'Amore(Voivod), Andy Cohen(Silkworm), and Page Hamilton(Helmet) will teach ya some cool playing.

Re: impressive guitarists
Don't forget fingerstylists either. Chet Atkins, Merle Travis and Jerry Reed.
In fact, if you want to hear something that'll make your hair curl, go to www.ubl.com, search on Chet Atkins, and buy the CD that's a double album with him and Jerry Reed. Also check out the one that's Chet and Les Paul.
They'll either inspire you to practice or to smash your guitar.
Re: impressive guitarists
Check out Doug Cerrito and Terrance Hobbs of Suffocation. Though they are disbanded pick up thier Pierced From Within cd, try to ignore the death metal vocals and just listen to the guitar guitar work. They are the total extremity of killer technical guitar work. They seem to never use the same riff and the time changes and chord structuring is just absolutely the finest I have ever heard. When I saw them live a few years back the guitar playing was so excellent, I thought they were just faking it and air-guitarring it to the cd, but they were playing it and I couldn't believe their precision and technicality. Throughout the whole set not once did I see one of them even look at thier fretboards and the riffs and solos were right on dead perfect. They are tied at the no.1 spot in my book.

Kerry King from Slayer is like #3 in the world's top 50 guitar players.
Tremelo arm and whammy bar????
What is the difference? I would also like to know how to use my tremelo arm. Ps. What the hell is a unison bend?
Re: Tremelo arm and whammy bar????
Whammy bar is just slang for Tremolo arm. Using it just takes practice. Listen to some early VanHalen, eddie knows how to use it. A unison bend is just bending more than one note at a time, at the same time,
in unison. Make sense?
Re: Tremelo arm and whammy bar????
I would like to know how to do cool things with my tremelo bar. Because there isn't a site out there that deals with how to make different affects they just tell you that it is possable
music software
Where can I find good "beginner level" help for learning to use music programs such as logic audio, fruity loops, etc.?
Upgrade? Or buy another one?
I have a 7string washburn with floyd rose and i jsut bought a Standerd Fernandes (vertigo) its a great guitar but im wondering if i should put liek gibson humbuckers in it and better tunning knobs to make it stay in tune better and stuff, i'd hate to waste the money and buy another guitar
Re: Upgrade? Or buy another one?
I'd wait a little while and let the pickups get broken in a bit before i change 'em. If your having trouble staying in tune, check with your guitar tech. It could be the tremelo, neck setup,or mechine heads.
Good Luck
