Check out Ed Romans world class guitars. If you can't find a guitar in your price range there at least you can get a good idea of what a "high end" guitar consists of.

First, if you're after a clean, bluesy sound, without a lot of sustain, you'll want to go with single-coil pickups and a maple fingerboard - like a stratocaster or telecaster. If you're into a heavier sound with a lot of sustain, you want to go with humbucking pickups, like a les paul. Some guitars offer both types of pickups if you want both sounds. Also, do you want a tremolo (whammy bar?). All strats come with them. Fender and Gibson of course are great names to go with (even Fender's Mexican made guitars play great). It will be tough to find a Gibson in that price range brand new. You may want to consider Washburn - they make some decent quality guitars at really affordable prices and all their guitars have a lifetime warranty. They are more geared toward heavy sounding guitars. Epiphone is also a name to consider in that price range - Gibson is their parent company. Ibanez also makes versatile sounding guitars. A Gibson is always going to kick ass over the Epiphones. Gibsons are made in the USA, Epis are Korean, good guitars but not to the level of the Gibs

I usually think of something to write about and keep it in my head, trying not to think about anything else. But i have had songs just pour out. Song writing is beyond an art, its best when its personel. Something that you enjoy or something that just pisses you off. The ones ive used in the studio always seem to be the ones about something that pisses me off. Hope this helps.

You need to make an educated guess, is it a 70s model? Take a look at this website:

The only thing possible that I saw was maybe 1961. Are you sure it's only a six digit serial number? I'm not sure if they made LP Customs that early.

: I have Les Paul of ser. No 1 4880. Still unable to assign the vintage of this one. Even Gibson is unable. Is there any expert who can exatly determine when this guitar was made plus/or what data source I can use to solve that?
