Marshall white face 50w 2x12 Jcm 800
I recently obtained a Jcm 800 Combo, I love this little. Unfortunatley I am displeased with the amount of gain after saturation, I am wondering if anyone would know how to "hot rod" this little combo perhaps by an additional pre-amp valve ect. I am not looking for the amounts of gain found in a Jcm 900 or a Boogie but more than can be squelched from what I have now.
Re: Marshall white face 50w 2x12 Jcm 800
If you haven't already, change the tubes to EL34s, they will deliver a better sound than the standard tubes.
Tube amp meltdown...
I know this is potentially a serious problem, and I
have already booked it into the amp doctor. I just
want to know a bit more about what the problem is (or
might be). My old 1970s Laney 100w tube amp is
overheating. The ventilation grill above the tubes
gets too hot to touch (for long). There is also an
orange glow around the base of the output tubes (not
just on the filament). There are also fluctuations
in volume, and it sounds like I've got a loose tube
(rattle). What could be the cause (the solution is
bring it to the tech, but I want to have some
knowledge before I talk to him).
Re: Tube amp meltdown...
It sounds like you need new tubes, and/or you need to set the bias.

Nope. Got new valves recently, and it was biased (correctly I hope) at the time...

what is the best rock band of this year ?
what do you think ?
is it papa roach or metallica ?
limp bizkit of greenday ?
you can say it.
just replay this message!
see you
Re: what is the best rock band of this year ?
okay..there are several ways to look at this..
one..you could go by record sales..or awards won..
or..draw in's on concerts..
or most influentual...
well its not going to be papa roach..honestly they dont have a new sound..(not to disrespect them) but they dont. and nor does limp bizkit. greenday would be close..but what have they done really...good tour but thats it. now i love Creed..but still i wouldnt pick them..because they didnt do much this year besides win every award a band can win....but still not best of the year material..the best of the year should be the beatles..for the simple fact...that they got an album to number one and they are no longer a band anymore..
that simple...never been done..NEVER..and i dont think any of the bands today...( not even my beloved creed) could do that...so in all fareness...BEATLES....
and it doesnt mean you have to like them...
just give credit due when it is due...

They don't give actual plans but do give detailed pictures. Great looking pedalboards! I'm also searching for actual plans and this site seems to be the most help.

my bridge is too high--please help!
I have a 70's strat and all of the sudden I realized that my bridge is slanted really high.I tried tuning it again, but it was still really high. I have a regular syncronized tremolo. I tried tightening the springs in the back and tuning by tightening the end screws on the bridge, but no luck. Is there a way to fix my problem without going to the shop? I'm 13 years old and I don't have alot of money. anyway if anyone could help that would be great. do i need to buy thinner strings?
Re: my bridge is too high--please help!
Yes, try lighter strings. As for the end screws on the bridge....don't fool with those, those are for the intonation, not the string height. There are height adjusting screws in each individual saddle on the bridge though, try adjusting those. Your best shot if none of that works is to remove the neck, put a piece of thin cardboard at the bottom of the neck slot and replace the neck, this will change the neck angle, effectively lowering the strings.

i saw on t.v. that somebody teach a person of guitar in no more then one week?
Re: i have a question
There's an infomercial on all the time for some guitar program on computer that's endorsed by Peter Frampton. Maybe you should check into it by doing a search on his name.

First time guitar buyer!
HI, I would love to learn guitar but don't know where to start. Any tips on which guitar to buy for the first time????
Re: First time guitar buyer!
if you have some friends that play they can point you in the right direction, and maybe loan you a guitar before you invest in one....but if you want the best bang for the buck in a NEW guitar the Taylor Big Baby is an awesome choice.....for around $350 I think......it has no pickups and doesnt even have bound edges but is still a nice looking guitar....but the real payoff is that you get that buttery, easy to play Taylor feel........and it has great tone......and if you decide that you need a more high end one sometime in the future youll always still have that nice camp guitar as a backup

LSR Roller Nut
Getting tired of strings sticking in my stock nut.
So I got a LRS Roller Nut.
I'm pretty good with tools.
Going to do it myself.
Any tips, or what not to do.
Thanks Again.. Glen

Be very careful and measure the length from nut to saddle exactly, you will need to remove a consderable amount of wood from the fretboard and if you put the nut in the wrong place you can screw the intonation for good. Measure, mark, then cut carefully and exactly.
Re: LSR Roller Nut
What the other individuals have brought to the table is very good. I would take the manufacturer's information on placement and devide it by three. Only remove about 2/3 thirds of the wood they say to remove. Then widdle and place the nut until the intonation is correct. This will make a crappy guitar that much better. By the way set the intonation as correctly as possible BEFORE doing any handy-work. The theory is that the instrument sounds realitvly good as is and needs minor adjutment. As with the other posts, DO NOT HURRY THE PROCESS, you should take baby steps in making any instrument sound good. You can't build a "Strovarious" in a minute, but a shit-pile in a second! BEST OF LUCK!!!!! YOU KNOW MY EMAIL
Re: LSR Roller Nut
Stratovarious by the way

Glen: I installed a Wilkinson roller nut on my strat.
I followed the instructions on the location of the nut
and used a straight edge, razor knife, a medium and fine course file for straight edges. You have to be very carefull taking out the old nut and take your time and think before doing or you could really screw up your neck. I used a razor knife to take out my old
nut and slowly took it out in about 4 or 5 pieces. I
found that the nut was really attached well at the center location bottom of nut. Use the pre-existing
cuttout for the old nut as a guide to a nice square cuttout after you have cleaned up the remaining material from the old nut. Fortunately I did not have to use any shims for my nut because the string height was perfect so I lucked out. The secret is to take your time and don't treat your neck like a piece of construction material but more like a precision instrument.
