khaler whammy bar
dose anyone know where i can find a khaler whammy bar?
Re: khaler whammy bar
well of course you can try all the auction sites like ebay and stuff, but you may find them at www.allparts.com <--- they have alot of wierd parts.
Bummer about Kahlers not being in production anymore, they were kinda neat, but you cant pull back on most of them and I think that is why floyd beat them out.

Hi,
um excuse me but your WRONG about not being able to pull up on a kahler. I have one on my strat (the flat mount.) and I can pull up on it just fine if any thing BETTER than a floyd!! its all in how you set them up

Beginer needing help!!!!
Im a new guitar player and i wanted to know what type of guitar i should buy first, an acoustic or electric. Whats the differnce between them?
Re: Beginer needing help!!!!
It depends. Electrics are easier to play (generally speaking) because strings are lighter and the necks are usually thinner for electrics. However, I would actually recommend starting out on an acoustic. Reason being, the strings are thicker, so you are better working the muscles needed to build up speed and control. Also, when you finally switch over to an electric, it will feel a lot better than starting on an electric and then picking up an acoustic, and you will more than likely end up a more "solid" player. So anyway, that's my 2 cents. Good Luck!

Attention all Floyd Rose Users!!!!
Hello all guitar players. This message pertains to users of Floyd Rose and lisenced Floyd Rose tremolos.
I have an Ibanez RG (lower quality) with a lisenced Floyd Rose single locking trem on it and I have a concern to which I would like addressed.

I have heard that on the lisenced versions of this trem, the point where the base plate contacts the screws, the plate wears down over time, leaving it dull and flat, allowing the trem to sit in a different position and consequently putting the guitar out of tune.
I wanted to test this on my guitar, so I made sure the guitar was in tune and that the trem was parallel to the body of the guitar. After what I believe to be some pretty modest use of the whammy bar, I noticed that the trem was not sitting parallel and the guitar was not in tune. (the theory was correct)
My question to all you is whether or not your trems do the same. I have had plans on upgrading to an ESP M-II or Prestige model Ibanez and this is something I want to clear up as it greatly affects my decision in buying a guitar with a Floyd Rose. I want to know if some of the other lisenced Floyd Rose trems are okay or whether I have to buy a Floyd Rose Original for a couple hundred bucks when I invest this much money in a guitar.
Thanks
Re: Attention all Floyd Rose Users!!!!
well actually Tray, I think the reason your bridge got all messed up was because it was a single locking trem.
The double lockin trems dont really do that, because as you may have figured; They lock at the bridge too :P
I have a single locker and, yes, it does what you describe but my double locker stays in tune pretty good...sometimes goes a little flat, but thats not too big an issue.
Take it easy Tray,
-Ben
Re: Attention all Floyd Rose Users!!!!
sorry bout calling you Tray...I thought the "v" was a "y" oops! I'm such a damn Tard...oh well sorry!
Re: Attention all Floyd Rose Users!!!!
I would suggest that weather you have a double locking or single locking tremelo you shoudl have it balanced once a year. Take it to your nearest guitar store, just make sure they are good at what they do. And ask them to balance it for ya. Hope this advice helps.
Does Blocking your Pickups help your sound?
I heard that the direct mounted pickups sound better than pickups mounted with the rectangular rings because they (direct mounted) are mounted directly to the wood, allowing the pickup and the wood to resonate together, whereas the mounting rings reduce the tone of the wood because the pickup is conected to the spring to allow for pickup height adjustment. Someone told me that by putting blocks under the pickup and conecting the pickup directly to the body, it acts as a directly mounted pickup and give you the better resonance. Does anyone know anything about this, it would be nice. Thanks in advance.
Re: Does Blocking your Pickups help your sound?
No.Standard(mounted)guitar pickups are designed to pick-up string vibration. The pick-ups that you'll need are scensor-type things.Barcus Berry and a couple of other people make these. They're built differently. The higher end Parker Fly models have scensor pick-ups built into the bridge.Lovely sound!Scensor pick-ups will probably work better.
Good Luck
NEW ON THE MARKET
HEy wazzup? im new to the electric guitar industry,,,strait off of bass, i am wondering what is a good electric guitar for me? i am experienced in that i know chords, scales.. blah blah........... please reply thanks alot!
Re: NEW ON THE MARKET
Try a Squire strat, not too much cash and an ever popular sound (and body shape).
Try playing some different guitars to get an idea of variation within a model.
Remeber a great guitar with a bad setup sounds bad.
Make sure the guitar you buy has had a recent setup, or factor this into the price.
how to place mic for recording of acc. guitar?
Hi all,
I have a condenser mic (AKG C2000B) and want to record some accoustic guitar tracks.
Where exactly do I place the mic in order to get the best sound? Above the guitar?
Bodo
Re: how to place mic for recording of acc. guitar?
I've found the best place to put it is somewhere from 2 to 8 inches in front of the fingerboard...right next to the soundhole, but not directly in front of it...otherwise it'll sound boomy.
