How do I adjust pitch on a Floyd Rose double locking tremelo?
I just bought an Ibanez S-470 with a Floyd Rose lo-trs2.
I like to be able to change the tuning of my guitar
between standard tuning and different drop tunings
constantly to play different things. I have 11-gauge
stings, how can I change the tuning without going to
to a gutar store and paying $50 for them to do it
every time I want it done. Please help, I love this
guitar!

Re: How do I adjust pitch on a Floyd Rose double locking tremelo?
You must be kidding me! Sit down and learn how to do it! But I am sorry to say that doing a drop D on a Floyd Rose is possible but takes a considerable amount of time. You will be fine tuning the guitar for about 30 min. before you can lock it back into place. I have an Ibanez and they really dont "like" to be tuned. But otherwise you should have known what you were gettin into when you got the guitar. Sit down and work on learning how to tune it! You cant be taking it to the store and getting them to do it for you the rest of your life!
Re: How do I adjust pitch on a Floyd Rose double locking tremelo?
For drop d I can usually just pop the nut and tune down, retighten and fine tune the rest, or do all the tuning with the tuners/fine tuners (sometimes it takes a sec, sometimes a few min)... for other tunings I have to adjust the springs and play around till it 'falls in place', and it usually takes a 15-30 min. Just start playing around and you'll figure it out, it's a simple 'system', so by good ole trial and error youll figure out what to loosen/tighten/adjust to get the tuning you want. As a side note $50 sounds crazy to charge someone to tune a guitar... maybe go somewhere else where they will show you how to do it if you can't get it easily yourself.

Go here http://www.musician.com/musiciansfriend_frameset.html and search (D TUNA).This is a little device that Eddie Van Halen invented to easly drop from E to D. without
unclamping.

Artificial "pitch" harmonics???
Could someone please explain to me (in detail) how you play artificial "pitch" harmonics? Like on the string g string, 6th fret. what would I do?
Re: Artificial "pitch" harmonics???
To play Pinch Harmonics you have to hold yer pick so that you can hardly see the tip of it between your index finger and thumb and you "pinch" the string and then rest your thumb gently on it You will get it sooner or later gl
Re: Artificial "pitch" harmonics???
What do you mean pinch.How???
Re: Artificial "pitch" harmonics???
Pinch harmonics are very easy once you get the hang of it. Technically, you don't pinch anything. In order to obtain the effect you must grip the pick pretty firmly and place the thumb toward the tip of the pick (the part that touches the string). Now, the next part has to be done at the same time, very precisely. Once the string is plucked, touch the string with the side of the thumb VERY,VERY LIGHTLY or else you will kill the string. This is what makes the harmonic. Depending on where your thumb touches the string, a different harmonic will be produced. The most common harmonic is produced right above the middle pickup (in a three single coil setup). I hope this helps. Good luck.
thanks!!!!!!!
hey man, i was learning to play the sweet home alabama solo and the first two notes on e string, 15 and 17th frets, well, it said pinch harmonic, so i looked it up, and got here, good advice, now all i need is practice thanks man
Re: Artificial "pitch" harmonics???
pick the string with both the thumb and the pick at the same time quite firmly.
Prodrive acoustic amps?
Anybody no anything about prodrive acoustic amps
please help
tve taken up the guitar and ive been at it for almost 2 months now and im pretty good not great but ok. so all i need is to find someone to tell or show me what the "e" cord should sound like. a sound file or something. ive been trying to teach myself and books really dont give you sounds (saddly)so can anyone please help? thanx
Re: please help
I don't understand why this would have any importance, if you have an acoustic guitar, get a pitch pipe and tune it, then play an E chord, and that's what it sounds like. If you have an electric, get a korg or something similar and likewise tune it and play an E chord, there you go, that's what it sounds like. If you're wondering what some E things would sound like, your open 6th string is an E, your open 1st string is E, 12th fret on both are E, 022100 is E, 079900 is E, etc, etc.

I would make sure that guitar is in tune. Born to be wild by steppenwolf is in key of E, also make sure your hand position is not muting any strings.

Sorry... couldn't figure out how this works... Just swapped one off... retail is about $150 in fair shape.
They are great guitars, basically a Les Paul with a double cut-away... Buy it to play... not for an investment.

Re: Korg AX1000G - How to get 'that' sound
for a good rock sound i just use the setting called 90's coz when palm muting it gives a heavy distinctive sound like metallica and early bonjovi. if uw ant softer go for the OD or adapt the setting called Monster and take of the delay feature on it - that works well!!! paul
SG pickups
i seem to have a collapsed pickup on my Epiphone SG Special...can anybody tell me how to fix it?
Re: SG pickups
: i seem to have a collapsed pickup on my Epiphone SG Special...can anybody tell me how to fix it?
Hey , if its just the height adjustment take off the strings, unscrew the pickup ring and screw in the height adustment screw . If its the single coil type,
two screws in the pickup not directly underneath the strings are the height adjustment. Let me know
if that works. Peace.
new a perfect circle song
I went to see apc perform several months ago, they put on a powerful show, they introduced a new song called tapeworm. I doubt this is the name of the track they seemed to be changing all the names to there songs. This song was intense, it had a fury that none of the other songs had, I was severly impressed. I'm wondering if anyone else has heard it and do they know how I can get it?
Would like your opinions on this new tune.
I have a new instrumental on my mp3 site. If any of you would like to hear it and give me your feedback (pro-or-con) I would apreciate it. It is an instrumental but I am now way claiming to be the second coming of Vai, Satch or any of those cate. Just a "fair" guitar slinger with a new tune.
The link to the song is

Washburn idol guitar
I'm looking at a washburn Idol guitar and i'm wondering how good it is, i know nothing about it.
Re: Washburn idol guitar
I own i washburn idol. it is the best guitar ive ever played. its really cheap too. the best part of the guitar is the neck. the electronics in the guitar give you incredible tonal flexibility too. the vcc gives you the single coil flavor as well as the badass humbucker distortion. definately the guitar to buy.
Re: Washburn idol guitar
hey i just bought a washburn idol today and i was trying to find some info on how to properly intonat it and other set up stuff can you help me with the intonation thing is it any diff then a normal guitar
Re: Washburn idol guitar
: I'm looking at a washburn Idol guitar and i'm wondering how good it is, i know nothing about it.
I "took a chance" and bought a Washburn Idol series WI24 primarily because it was soooo cheap (or should I say inexpensive). Turns out it was the BEST chance I may have ever made! I've been playing privately, publically, and just about everything in between for 25+ years and this guitar (with stock, factory open-coil humbuckers) is one of the best I have ever played and I've owned some expensive, top of the line guitars. The neck is extremly fast, the body fits well when you strap it on, and the Grover 18:1 tuners do their job very well. Only drawback: tends to be head heavy. Potential drawback: don't know what kind of wood the body is made of (neck is maple with mahog. fretboard). But with the sound, tones, and durability, who cares what kind of wood it is. Buy one. Snobs may scoff at you playing a Washburn...until they hear it.

Reverb for dry Vox AC30
What would be the best solution for adding reverb to a reverbless Vox amp? Digital multieffects unit, rack, or dedicated reverb unit. Any suggestions? Bearing in mind i don't want to loose my Vox's juicy tone.
Re: Reverb for dry Vox AC30
I use an Alesis Nanoverb - small, portable, good mix if reverbs. Can suck tone: sounded pretty bad with my old 100w laney head, Sounds better with my JTM45. Your Vox won't have an effects loop. Neither of mine do either. You could try putting it in line between diagonal input patching, if your Vox has (as I think it does) that 4 input configuration. Not an ideal option, though... Any reverb, even valve units, will superimpose upon your tone. If you use natural power valve distortion a lot, this may not sound nice -- reverb before distortion rarely does.
