Listen..........
Do your self a favor and tweak your amp and in every possible way....
Find your sound.. man, Your the only one who knows what your looking for. Does the song need low growl, middy in your face or, painfull high end?
look at your needs and then meet them.
Pay attention to where and how your sound will fit in to your song.
You can't depend on others to tell you what sounds good..
Good luck!

Harps
I do not know if this is where to start or not, but I recently ran across Grandma Harps grave. if you as the reader do not know whom Grandma Harp is, please do your best to get this message to Merl, as I feel he would love to visit her resting place. I am posting her resting place, along with others in the Haggard family and my own family on the net. I would very much like to know if Merl has info. on the family other than what the markers say. Any of you help will be greatly appreciated. And please be assured this is not a hoax. Thank-You

fender strat 35th anniversary no.408 of 500
I bought the said guitar last week and have found that when i switch the active on the volume /tone knobs don't work??any ideas..i have changed the battery
Re: fender strat 35th anniversary no.408 of 500
Check the wiring. The previous owner could have bypassed it if it wasn't to their liking. Also some sodering may have broken loose.
Intrumental surf music
Hi everybody.
The past few months I've been learning a little instrosurf (dick dale, the ventures, link wray, the chantays, etc.). But a few things are missing. Could anybody tell me which song structures are used is surf, which chords and scales? Until now I've figured out that the 12 bar blues scale is used a lot, and 6th string bar chords. But I would like to advance a little, so any help would be very welcome.
How?
does anyone know how to put a Floyd Rose guitar into lower tunings without the bridge falling down into the body cavity? if you have any advice please email me because I wont be back on the board for about a week, but you can post if you want. Thanks!
Re: detuning a floyd rose
First off, use aheavier set of strings. 11 guage or twelve work well. loosen the springs in the back just a little bit at a timeduring tuningso that the string tension equals the bridge position that is most comfortable for your playing. cheers!
Marshall 1553 Bass cab
Can anyone help me find a wiring diagram & speaker specs for a Marshall JCM 800 series model 1553 bass cabinet? This cab uses 1-15" and 2-10" speakers and is bi-ampable. Also looking for a source for parts such as handles & tolex to recover it. Thanks.

searching for MB Triaxis v2.0 Eprom dump
Hi everybody!
I desperatly try to upgrade my Mesa Boogie Triaxis in version 2.0 but can't find the content of the Eprom that could do it.
Is there a guitarist who owns one and could read his Eprom and send it to me

TIA

Lyle
I have a Lyle 1203T with 335 pickups. I don't know much about it including how to string it! There is no obvious way to keep the ball ends of the strings secured in the tremelo bridge since there are only slots and no holes....Any history, specs or background would be appreciated. Thanks, John
PUZZLING ESP M III ARTIST
I saw an older ESP M III guitar at a local pawn shop listed for $200.00 without knowing anything about the damn thing. The white axe is signed on the body by an artist of whom I have no clue about. It has a S/S/H config and Floyed trem with one volume knob and no tone knob. Neck is bolt-on with 24 jumbo frets and dotted inlayed on the base part of the neck. There is no ESP logo on the 12th fret, just the double dotted inlay. The back neck plate has the numbers 70387.The reversed head stock has the ESP logo with "M III" written next to it.If anyone can identify this guitar for me I would greatly appreaciate it. I called an ESP office in Cali and I was told that the axe was made in japan in 1991 and retailed for $1500.Unfortunately, that was all they could say about it. Most importantly,I would like to know who the artist is that signed the axe. ------------- THANKS A BUNCH!

to EMG or not to EMG?
I was thinking about buying an EMG-81 and putting it in the bridge position on my Ibanez RG550. I was just wandering if any of you guys know of any pickups that are better than EMG. I am talking for Heavy metal, I like to use lots of harmonics and soloing...do you guys know of anything better than the EMG's?

Hey there...for the type of stuff you want to play, the EMG81 would be a good choice. Have to make sure there's room in the control cavity for a 9v battery though. I use an 81 in my Gibson SGX and the thing drives both tube and solid state amps pretty good. It's also a good choice if you have a Floyd Rose on your Ibanez as there are no poles on the pickup to have to line up with strings.
Re: to EMG or not to EMG?
well i have a jackson rhoads guitar with jackson pickups, i recently bought a pair of emg 81's and 85's and from the difference that my old pickups were, the emg's are the best for heavy metal, i also play that kind of music, the emg's are good for everything heavy, for example its awesome for harmonics, i didnt even know how to do harmonics but when i got the pickups it was so easy and for soloing its pretty good too cause u can here it so clearly and heavy
Re: to EMG or not to EMG?
Try DiMarzio Evolution for Vai-like, high-output level sound

Dude EMGs are the nuts, however, the problem I had was the Female jack connector, unless someone has come up with a better idea (which i would like to know of)its not a straight foward fit.

strange SG!
Can anyone help me id an old battered SG I've acquired for next to nothing? Its cherry (and looks like its been dragged behind a car - very cracked glaze too), has a small Les Paul style raised scratch plate and an embossed single coil black neck pick up set on a steel plate (rounded each side of pick up). It has an obvious replacement bridge (cheap Japanese affair) and obvious replacement bridge humbucker - not sure what original was. The controls (one vol and one tone) are set on a rounded steel plate (like with pick up), tele style, but with a toggle selector switch (n, n/b, b) on the same plate. Also, it has dot inlays on the rose wood board (mother of pearl type) and a gold printed Gibson logo on the headstock. The truss rod cover is plain black. The machines are replacements, so no clues there. It has made in the USA stamped on the back of the headstock (just indentation), but no serial number that I can see.
Its got a lovely sound (I use it for slide), which is suprising when you see how it looks (although I love it).
Someone once told me it was a cheap early 70s version, but I'm not sure. I'd love to find out!!!!
Cheers,
BBB
G and L active bass
My bass has recently started to have this static in the background. It is definitely not a typical buzz. I need to get it fixed but don't have time to take it in because of gigs. Does anyone know what might cause the static.

I'd check the cable you are using and also check the battery in the bass
