I work in a music shop and had seen a lot of amp-s, but just one I can advise you: FENDER PROSONIC.

Fender amps are great -- there are lots of possibilities. My son owns a Fender Deluxe 90 which I just wired to power a 4 x 10
Marshall cabinet, and it sounds amazing. This is a transistor amp but has lots of power and fits nicely on top of the cabinet. The distortion is
excellent, although you can vary it with a good fuzz box. The Danelectro is great, as is the Corrosion pedal from DOD. This amp also has Fender's superb spring reverb.

While tube amps are still warmer overall, today's transistor amps have come a long way, and are very reliable. A tube overdrive channel or pedal is also a good way to go.

Tube amps are heavier to carry and the tubes need regular replacement -- so you might want to check out some of the great transistor amps now available. Have you heard the killer sound
of Laney amps with tube overdrive channel? They'll blow you away!

I certainly do. They're a cheap piece of crap. Most of the effects are just stupid. Stick with separate pedals. That's what I say.

Both of those bands are stripped down versions of REAL music. Look a bit deeper for better music. Blues Explosion, early fleetwood Mac, Morphine, Queens of the Stone Age, old soul music, Iggy and the stooges, Kinks,early Cars, Supergrass(first album)I understand what you see with these bands, understand where they came from and if you are a musician listen to these records and make your own music which will be just as good and hopefully better than the stripes or the strokes. In response to Hazardous Dave, just because the Strokes and The Stripes are stripped down doesn't make them any less ligitimate than the 'better' bands you named. Particularly as some of those you named, i.e Iggy and the Stooges and The Kinks, are very stripped down (and exceptional) bands themselves. Both the Strokes and The White Stripes are superb bands, and both, particularly The White Stripes, are emotionally deep. And my word can Jack White play a slide guitar. Oh and Queens of the Stone Age. Ha ha

I LOVE The White Stripes & The Strokes, but I don't think they're competing against each other. They actually do get along quite well with each other. Julian and Jack are good friends with each other(wich I've read).They just have similar music. I love both of them!!!!!

Hey man, I've built several pedalboards in my life. My most recent one is probably the most complex. As you noted, I have gone the velcro route--only I don't actually use the female velcro half on the board itself. I have the surface of the board covered in a flat carpet, to which the male velcro sticks really well. I typically fasten the velcro to my pedals by unscrewing the back and inserting the strip just under the back--this keeps glue off the pedal when and if I decide to ditch it on eBay. I currently 11 pedals on my board. I've built it at an angle for easier access. the front row of effects are just an inch off the ground. There is a second, elevated row that rises just above the profile of the first row of effects. I also built a makeshift rack underneath the board where I've screwed in my Chandler Digital Echo (pain in the ass unit only comes in rackmount format). I wire all the pedals w/ George L's effect kit wire and power most of the effects w/ Voodoo Labs Pedal Power (smaller than a strip, no wall warts, and it's quiet as a church).

Nothing. Its ALL cosmetic. The look of a "left handed" neck.
