Lotus Fender
My brother owns a white Lotus with a black striped pattern, looks to be Fender edition. Trying to get exact information about the specific make and year. Resembles Van Halen edition, but with thicker stripes than any other I've found so far. I'm sure everybody knows there's not much information on those type of guitars out there. Any .

Amp Troubleshooting help -- Boogie Studio 22
I'm no expert when it comes to tube amps, as I've only ever owned one -- my MB Studio 22+ -- and only have played about 2 1/2 years. Lately I'm hearing a sound that I don't believe was there before a few months ago. When I strum a chord, I the amp produces a fairly pronounced oscillating, wah-wah like sound instead of steady sustained note(s). It has JJ tubes that are fairly new, and don't have a lot of heavy use, so I'm sure it's not the tubes. This can't be normal. Right?
Any ideas?
HELP! AMP COMPARISON
I need a little help deciding which of these amps would be the best choice. Would it be a Mesa/Boogie Rocket 44 or a Marshall AVT50? The Rocket 44 is an all tube amp, the Marshall is just a tube pre-amp, but I need some advice on which is the best bet.
thanks

Looking for set (6) of Grover tuning keys for my Guild D-50 (brass). New preferred, old acceptable as long as they are in excellent condition and do not have "play" in the mechanism. Any leads, information, or advice would also be helpful.

Gretsch Diamond Anniversary
Here we go again, value check. I have a Gretsch Diamond
Anniversary model (1958?), single pickup, tutone Green
with Bigsby tailpiece. Last time I looked in a collectable
reference book, a while back it was valued at about $1350.
Sound about right? Any interest out there?
Re: Gretsch Diamond Anniversary
I was just wondering about what they were worth from 1958 to 1967 could you please send me some info.
Complete Beginner - buying guitar
i am going to learn to play acoustic guitar, i have always wanted to and now i am finally getting around to doing it. i have been reading about it on the net, but i am still completely lost as to what to buy.
how do i select a guitar? in many articles i have read, it says that you should play the guitars and pick one that sounds good. the only problem with that, is i dont know how to play yet. i have seen people recommending many different brands, and then other people saying those same brands are crap. my budget is around $300, but it is flexible.
also, what else do i need? picks? strings? some kind of case?
i plan on taking a few lessons, but also teaching myself as much as possible. any help is really appreciated.
buying guitars
If youre starting to play, don't worry about getting a "perfect" guitar just now. buy local, so you can return the guitar if need to, and pick up something that you like, don't look for any articular brands. take a friend who knows about guitars with you when you shop and they can help. You don't need anything expensive to start with. Try under £100 to start with. Learn well and then choose a more expensive guitar which would specialise in the type of music that you like most.
For acoustic you may need a pick (plectrum) but this is optional. ask your guitar tutor about that when you do lessons. you need a soft case too- £15 from most music shops.
Have fun and long live shredding!

Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?
No. You're crap. Gee whiz mate, you're still using the 'crap' line. You came here trying to make a stir and perhaps make a name for yourself. But, instead, you are a tosser with no talent. You're not even funny.
Face it, you are crap!

Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?
Dear Bob the Knob,
How shall I put this tactfully? Okay, here goes. What one says of others is often truest of
oneself.
Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?
Yeah hey he was great. he had a very distinct playing style. i used to play some of his stuff with mates in my "guitar club".
Re: Yeah...it's about time! ! Jeez !
George Harrison's tunes were more straight ahead rock. They were easier to relate to.The end track of Lethal Weapon 2 (Cheer Down)is a beautiful little diddy that also churned with power.
From what I heard and read(I could be wrong),music didn't come as easily to Mr.H as it did to John and Paul. But he practiced very hard and was very introspective.THIS PROVES ONE THING.Raw talent isn't enough!A certain amount of work and dedication must also be applied.
I call him Mr.H cause it's the highest honor I can give him.And deservedly so!
Although George Harrison has left this world, his music will last until this world ends...or beyond!
Good-buy George
Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?
George Harrison: While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something in the Way She Moves, My
Sweet Lord, Apple Scruffs, singer and lead player for the Beatles, Concert for Bangladesh.
He was a sweet guitar player and one of my heroes. I guess you had to have been there.
While the Beatles have not been on the tip of everyone's tongue for some while, their
music will outlast most of what is on the radio today.
It's amazing that the Beatles first albums were recorded on 4-track machines, because that
was the cutting edge of technology in the early 60's. The only special effect back then was
Hall Echo, where they fed a signal to a speaker in a cavernous hall and placed a microphone
at the far end of the hall. The sound was then remixed with the original signal.
On one of their sessions one of the engineers devised a way to re-record the signal
on another tape recorder, and then play them both back at the same time while oscillating
the speed of the second tape machine to achieve flanging/phasing sounds.
They gave us a lot of the sounds we take for granted today.
George, take care Brother.
Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?
Concerning George. This man was such an underated player. True he was never a "by the balls" lead player, such as some of his contemparies. Keith Richards, Dave Davies, etc. That style prevailed. Which may account for George being underated. This man and the Beatles themselves are far from simplistic. There is a lot of underlying texture in those songs. Still amongst the most difficult songs I try to learn.Yeah I can play the basic chord structure, I can play the leads. It's the sublties I have trouble with. George was even covered by Ted Nugent, who did a killer version of I Want To Tell You. Ted could have made the choice to re-record any number of Beatles songs. He chose that one. George made great music, wrote great songs. Over shadowed by the Lennon/McCartney team, his songs for years were only album cuts. Then the occasional "B" side of singles. Old Brown Shoe comes to mind. A really great song. Unfortnunately it was not until the demise of the group when John(according to legend)defended Something, and insisted it be released as the "A" single. George will be sorely missed. He wrote great songs. He was a legend as a solo artist, not just as a Beatle, and ex Beatle. In closing,to quote Keith Richards I hope he is up the jamming with John.
Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?
he was one of the least signifigant guitarists in history. Listen to some beatles, then listen to a real guitarist like Satriani or Hammet, then you will see how truly shit he realy was. He contributed very little to this art, not creating anything or having any realy new style.
Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?
Never really cared for his music, or the beatles for that matter, but he was a part of R&R history, and his music will endure and no doubt inspire others. He lived a full life many only dream of, so even though his death may have been untimely, he lived more than most.

Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?

Obviously the guys here are all to young to know about Harrison he was never Media savey so how do you expect everyone under the age of 40 to know about him!!!at the same time I did shed an E string for him but hey we all die and he's music will speak for him in years to come........

Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?
fellows,
george was, is and will be a guitar player that is heard by MILLIONS of people. beside this, i myself REALLY noticed what he does, when i tried to play the "back in the ussr" solo somewhere in the 80s - go ahead and try it! it has vocal-like qualities, it's bend not properly and that's X-ACTLY how a human would sign this line. i guess if You can't pay credit to ol' slingers like link wray, tony joe white or chris spedding, the edgy midrangey and bonedry playing of harrison won't do anything for You. just imagine: he was there at the very beginning, he was in the cavern and in hamburg, he's seen it all and more. it doesn't matter if we like it or not: he carved into the ears, brains and hearts of millions of people.
helluvaedgyguitarslinger. just listen to his soloing on "the end2 from 'abbey road'. any questions?

For all of you ignoramus' who don't get it, Harrisons' contributions to music way overshadows the likes of Satriani. Gimme a break! To even mention the two in the same sentence is absurd! Beatles music will withstand changing times, that's been proven. Do yourselves a favor and go buy 'Please Please Me'. Not only was the majority of the debut album recorded in one day, but LIVE. No overdubs. George was 20 when it was recorded. I'd like to see some of you disrespectful wankers pull off what he did then at ANY period of your sorry lives. Keep listening to mind ripping speed licks by your boring statuesque hero's and get nowhere quick. Or listen to the thoughtful phrasing and mighty mighty tone of Mr. Harrison and enjoy life! Some peoples' ignorance slays me!
