You BETTER stop putting words on the internet like that. George was a loving and caring man. Listen to his slide and his sitar...bet you couldn't play the sitar. I won't get over our loss of George, he's dead and so is my dad. Do I just put my dad in the grave and not love him anymore? You are an AH and I'd get over it if you were dead
Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?
: : fellows,
: : george was, is and will be a guitar player that is heard by MILLIONS of people. beside this, i myself REALLY noticed what he does, when i tried to play the "back in the ussr" solo somewhere in the 80s - go ahead and try it! it has vocal-like qualities, it's bend not properly and that's X-ACTLY how a human would sign this line. i guess if You can't pay credit to ol' slingers like link wray, tony joe white or chris spedding, the edgy midrangey and bonedry playing of harrison won't do anything for You. just imagine: he was there at the very beginning, he was in the cavern and in hamburg, he's seen it all and more. it doesn't matter if we like it or not: he carved into the ears, brains and hearts of millions of people.
: : helluvaedgyguitarslinger. just listen to his soloing on "the end2 from 'abbey road'. any questions?
: For all of you ignoramus' who don't get it, Harrisons' contributions to music way overshadows the likes of Satriani. Gimme a break! To even mention the two in the same sentence is absurd! Beatles music will withstand changing times, that's been proven. Do yourselves a favor and go buy 'Please Please Me'. Not only was the majority of the debut album recorded in one day, but LIVE. No overdubs. George was 20 when it was recorded. I'd like to see some of you disrespectful wankers pull off what he did then at ANY period of your sorry lives. Keep listening to mind ripping speed licks by your boring statuesque hero's and get nowhere quick. Or listen to the thoughtful phrasing and mighty mighty tone of Mr. Harrison and enjoy life! Some peoples' ignorance slays me!
Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?
: : : fellows, GEORGE HARRISON, WAS THE CONSUMATE GUITAR PLAYER, AND HUMAN BEING AS WELL, IN FACT THE
NOTES HE PLAYED AND HOW HE PLAYED THEM REFLECTED
THE VERY ESSENCE OF HIS SOUL. THE LIKES OF ERIC CLAPTON AND COUNTLESS OTHERS EMULATED AND WERE STUDENTS
OF HIS UNPARALLED STYLE. WITHOUT HARRISONS SIGNATURE
RIFFS, LENNON AND MCARTNEY'S SONGS WOULD HAVE BEEN AVERAGE AT BEST!

My two cents.
Harrison was not the greatest, or the best, or most stylistic. Not any of it. He was one of four guys from a old port city trying to break out of the working class grind their families were stuck in. Trying to make a REAL name for themselves. Harrison said it himself; "I just wanted to be successful, not famous." If he could be "accused" of being anything, it was as an unintentional trail blazer. So many great guitarists were "in the works." The Harrison and the Beatles opened the door for so many bands after them. Hendrix. Clapton. Page. Allman. Even Keith Richards and the Stones owe a debt to the Fab Mop Tops. We would not have known the rest (and sometimes, better) if it had not have been for Beatles. And each of them have their disciples. As Harrison followed his idols, one of them Carl Perkins (shame they never got the chance to do some work together), and a local Liverpudlian name of Lonnie Doneghan (where's HE now) and got lucky. I wish all of us aspiring wannabees could get half as lucky as he did. And somewhere down the road, some kid is gonna pick up a Beatles disc in the budget rack, take it home to play it, and just be floored by the energy coming from the lead guitar. And the cycle will begin again. Peace.

Lonnie Donnigan is Scottish, born in Glasgow. If you want to criticise Harrison in comparison to Hendrix, Clapton, etc. then by the same token Hendrix, Clapton etc. are all garbage compared with Wes montgomery, Bill Frisell etc. Technical proficiency means nothing if you've got nothing worth saying. Harrison used what he had to write ''Something'' ''Here comes the sun'' etc. What has Clapton ever written or produced which didn't instantly induce yawns? yours Scott

Re: Don't you bastards have anything to say about Harrison?
All I can realy say is I respected him, and his influence will be missed. The rest of the world can jump the bandwagon, and dub Harrison the next guitar god, just like they did with Stevie Ray Vaughn. Let's show Harrison the respect he deserves, he wrote touching, personal music, that mattered only to him. In the last ten years, no one realy paid REAL attention to him, but now it's time for the world to try and reinvent our past, wish for Woodstock...again... Screw this. If you wanna preserve guitar history, we need to give Les Paul his true respects. He did more for humanity than Bill Gates ever will. As guitarist, we have a serious lack of true respect. Harrison needs to be remembered for his music, not to give our ego's the satisfaction of a rub by name dropping.

I'm interested in learning the electric guitar
I'm interested in learning the electric guitar as I'm inspired by all those punk rock bands out there. But the problem is,I don't know which brand of electric guitar I should buy.I have a relatively low budget. And do I absolutely need an amp? 'Cause I'm staying in an apartment and I don't want my neighbours to come complaining to me.I'm only interested in punk rock music and soft rock,so I don't think I need the effects pedal as well. Please advise.. thanks!!

VH needs a new voice
Living in Australia I hear nothing of a new singer for VH. Can anyone fill me in or give suggestions as to who might be a good candidate? I heard that Jimmy Barnes of Australia's Cold Chisel was once considered and I think he could still pull it off. David Coverdale was one of my suggestions.
Re: VH needs a new voice
We don't hear much about it here in the USA either! The last I heard, they did speak with Coverdale and his management but the deal couldn't be worked out. I love Eddie but he definetly wants to be the man in charge, and Coverdale could never live with that, I have heard that he's a big control freak. His way or the highway, and most of the Whitesnake members over the years hit the highway! (unfortunately) I heard the other day that Eddie claims to have 2 and 1/2 albums worth of material waiting to be recorded. Hope they find a good lead singer soon!
Re: VH needs a new voice
I hear that VH has been talking to Rod Stewart. It would not suprise me to see those drunken old farts try to perform live with another clown-boy singer. Don't get me wrong, I love VH and Eddie is the reason I started playing guitar, but, over the years I have changed my opinion about Eddie because of his shitty attitude. I just didn't realize how much of a prick he was. Anyway, I think VH needs a singer with character and balls to stand up to Eddie. That is what will make great music. That is exactly why Fair Warning is so good, because Eddie wasn't getting along with Dave. So until that happens, Van Halen will slowly rot away and Eddie will drink and smoke himself to death.

Re: Fender Strat bridge replacement
The way I understand it the newer 2-post fender guitars are interchangeable with a special Floyd Rose System.

Help for a beginer
I have just started playing the guitar and I am about to purchase an accoustic. I am a very small person so I am looking for a small cheap guitar. The local music store is selling a cheap (under $200) Ibanez accoustic. It is a very beginer model, but the sound isn't bad. Should i risk buying a crappy guitar for that price, or should i dole out a little more cash and get a better guitar? Keep in mind that I am very new to the guitar. thanks
buy that guitar it sounds good...
If your'e new to the guitar it sounds like that guitar would be fine for you. as a beginner you don't need to have a really quality guitar : if you gave up then you would have wasted your money! I'ts not such a crappy guitar at that price1...

Guitar for a beginner
Could anyone make a suggestion for an acoustic guitar for a beginner? I don't want to spend a lot of money in case I find that it's not for me.
Thanks

Re: Guitar for a beginner
An air guitar.
Re: Guitar
Read the comments from beginners on this page . Above all get something cheap and local so you can take it back and if u r a beginner you don't need anything expensive. Go for a good tone and ask friends about guitars. Hey hey guitars rock...
Re: Guitar for a beginner
: Could anyone make a suggestion for an acoustic guitar for a beginner? I don't want to spend a lot of money in case I find that it's not for me.
Seagull, Simon & Patrick, and Art & Lutherie are all Canadian acoustic brands (I think they're basically made by the same people) that are probably the best quality inexpensive acoustics out there, both by my limited experience and from what I've read. Find a local dealer of one of these and get some more advice from them. I also have some more expensive guitars, but I have a cedar-top Art & Lutherie that cost me around $250, and it's a nice guitar, good for a beginner, but something you could grow with, too. Some more advice while I'm at it: get yourself an electronic tuner. They're only about $20-30, and they will save you hours of frustration and make you sound so much better. I fooled around without one of these for years, and when I finally got one (the prices came way down), it was a revelation. A badly tuned guitar sounds awful no matter who's playing it.
Harris Guitars
Has anyone heard of a brand of guitar called "Harris"? Are they any good? I'm from Australia and no one has heard of them here.

Can anyone tell me the price of a Yamaha FG461s guitar
Excellent to very good condition.
Re: Price
: Can anyone tell me the price of a Yamaha FG461s guitar

I think that they were around $400-$500 new when they came out in 1995. Now you can find them used, although it's rare, for around $300 or so. It is a really sweet sounding guitar. I have been a fan of Taylor and Tacoma guitars for a long time. I told myself that I would not buy a (good) guitar until I could afford a Taylor or a Tacoma $800+ until I came accross this guitar. I met a girl that had one, and it sounded AWSOME!! It had that little bit of Taylor twang in it, but not quite the same. It is very clean sounding, and very robust at the same time.
