Re: How do you replace the knobs on your guitar?
it may seem a little scary ,but all you have to do is pry them off with a flathead screw driver (carefully).
Re: How do you replace the knobs on your guitar?
i read a couple of these and did it for the first time just then (to get out some plastic from the new scratchplate) and all i did was get 2 thick/heavy picks, one on either side and pry it up. worked like a gem.
Re: How do you replace the knobs on your guitar?
: I've got a stratocaster and I want to take the knobs off and replace them how do I do it?
The best way I've found is to use a strong piece of twine or leather strip that will squeeze in between the knob and top of guitar then grasp both ends and pull. This will not harm the plastic knob or damage the guitar.
Re: How do you replace the knobs on your guitar?
:I basically just used a swiss army knife, and used it as a lever and it came right off, no harm

Can i use my 15W Laney LC30R in conjuction with an old tranny 1x12 amp, but just to use it's speaker. (Hardly any bottom end fom the 1x10 Laney you see)? How do i make the connections?
catalogs
I'm looking for a catalog for guitars circa 1976. The one I need has a white cover, and one of the pictures inside is of a guy and a girl sitting/standing next to a helicopter with an acoustical guitar. Can anyone help me find it? Thanks!

soldano SLO amp head
i have recently been given this amp off a member of my family (my uncle, who has given up the guitar). he said they are great amps and it should last me a lifetime, well im sure it will, and it sure sounds better than my peavey bandit, but, i dont know anything about this amp, is it rare ? is it expensive ?, my uncle just said (when i asked him these questions) "FORGET ABOUT ALL THAT AND JUST USE IT". so any help much appreciated. geoff
Re: soldano SLO amp head
the head you've got isn't exactly rare but don't ever get rid of it, you'll have to sell your liver to
get another. soldanos are hand made and i think the one you've got lists around $3500.00.
you won't find anything better, period. and it will last you a life time because they put a lifetime
waranty on the things. you have the best amp money can buy
Soldano loop
help me please: which is the best choice for my Soldano HotRod100+ head, it has a +4db serial loop! Sob!!

Can you tell me about squire guitars?
Can anyone tell me something about squier guitars, because I want to bue one. What do you think about the tremolo bar?
Re: Can you tell me about squire guitars?
squires are the most shithouse guitars to ever grace this earth. They sound shit, they play shit, and if you ask me, they look shit. For the price you pay, you could get a better guitar, more suited to your needs.
Re: Can you tell me about squire guitars?
for someone who gives out advice, you sure are rude. some of the older squire guitars (the japanese ones) are very good, infact a lot better than some american strats i have played, the onlything i have noticed about the american ones is they have much better pickups, which can be replaced easily on the squires. the newer squires, i do agree, are a bit bad and i think i would rather spend my money on a yamaha pacifica (they are excellent for the money). so next time someone asks for advice, try giving it, rather than slagging everything off, you tosser.
My squire is better than any of your fucking guitars you twat and its probably worth more...........

Re: Can you tell me about squire guitars?
your quite rude personally i see the quiality of fenders as in how they are made are getting worse every year squires are good guitars i got a 1979 squire made in korea it sounds fine plays fine and is probably better than the squires and some fenders made to day but it can never meet the fender sound the authentic one that is
Re: Can you tell me about squire guitars?
:is it squire or squier, my stepson has a squier.....made in china! but it says squier by fender, is it a real squire(squier) or a copy, anyone know!

I like them. they are not expensive, though sound quite good.
Of course not so good as fender but not far from it.

I just got a squire showmaster and it cost me $500 second hand so it must sound a little better if not just as good as a normal fender? are they supposed to be better than fender guitars or worse?

Re: Can you tell me about squire guitars?
: Can anyone tell me something about squier guitars, because I want to bue one. What do you think about the tremolo bar? Squire is made by Fender, Japanese or mexican, I bought one in '81. Maybe different now but it's basically designed from the Specs of a '75 strat. The trem is stock, you can add springs in the back to stay in tune and use heavier strings. it will go out of tune anyway. Drop a Floyd in there no wang bar probs. Well, 45 mins to change strings and once you break a string at a gig you better have a back up. If your seriously looking for a lesser expensive quality guiter with trem squire is hard to beat. Look at epiphone they are made under Gibson supervision and the prices have come down for some decent quality.

i bought a new squire show master and i needed to change a string but now i think its broke does anyone know how i can fix it???

I don't understand tabs?
I know that tabs are a simple way of learning to play the gutair but I honestly don't understand to well how they work can someone help me before I go crazy!!!
Re: I don't understand tabs?
you're right, tabs are easy. but everyones gotta learn so here goes. Its easier to learn in person w/ someone teaching you but i'll see what i can do.
First you have 6 horizontal lines that represent the strings on a guitar. the letters on the far left represent the string. i. e.
A------------------------. So that means the a string. Numbers on the line represent what fret you hold on that string. ie A------------8---------. That means you hold
8th fret on the a string. if they want you to play a chord, it will look like this
e----3
B----0
G----0
D----0
A----2
E----3
So that would be a g chord, if you dont understand why, then you're gonna have to consult someone else. so chords are tabbed in line w/ each other.
solos and other riffs where you are not using chords are tabbed progressivly. hope this helps.

Re: I don't understand tabs?
i still don't understand tabs my cousin tought me to play smoke on the water just by stringing the top string and playing the dots example: play the first string open then put my finger on the 1 dot,2,open,1,3,2,open,1,2,2,1 i hope you can help!!!!
Re: I don't understand tabs?
Guitar World Acoustic has a very neat tab guide in most issues. Tablature typically gives you the notes to play, in order, but usually doesn't assign time values to the notes. So, a note that should have a time value of an eight note shows the same as a note with a time value of a whole note. It ends up being up to you to be familiar with the song to know the difference. But, GWA has come up with a tab notation that incorporates timing.

Washburn A/E? opinions on them
I'm considering a washburn acoustic electric cutaway, its an AG20, and its on sale for 200, which is cheaper than the 300 it used to be. But i'd have to get it online. Any opinions on washburn acoustics? or this one specifically? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Re: Washburn A/E? opinions on them
Washburn AE always seemed a little tinny to me (maybe its just me) As far as buying on line, I'll give the same advice I gave to "the Dude" regarding a Guild D-25. How Do you know how this guitar is going to play or sound without trying it first ?? You may try two or three of the exact same model, and sometimes you can find one thats just perfect or one that sucks. Hope you don't get one that sucks. ( I know you can send it back & get another one, but how many times do you want to do this & pay freight ?)Maybe hit a couple of guitar stores first. Good luck
