changing strings can often have a great effect on sound. is cheap to do get the person in the music shop you buy strings from to do it for you, i always mess it up myself!
however you may want to change pickups, these are the most expensive part of the guitar(?) -think so- but that would be more. what kinda amp do you usually play thru?

well lol my amps volume control broke so it wont turn up so i use my fender practice amp till i can get enough money to fix the marshal.

the strings are allready the ones i want but im looking in on the pickups thx for the help

changing to different gauge/brand of string will change the sound. if shes a squire strat then changing pickups will be good, as those ones tend to sound prety stingy. if you want like a warmer sound, try some seymore duncans, these pickups rock. if yer into metal get an emg 81 put in the bridge hehehe

What kinda 'sound' are you looking for ??? on a strat the pickups are usually the first to go.

I'm 16 and beginning to purchase a new quitar for my pleasure. I realy don't know how to play but I mess around with my friends' guitars all the time. I want an acoustic but than again an electric would be nice so should I put them together and get Axoustic-Electric or just an Acoustic. When you give your opinion pleasse feel free to recommend what brand or kind of guitar as well. Thanks, Mikey

Smashing Pumpkins sound on V-amp?

I have just bought a Behringer V-amp, and rather than sitting with it for an hour I was wondering if anyone can give me the settings for the Smashing Pumpkins guitar sound (Rocket, zero etc.)

Well, rocket and zero has very different settings, you'll have to be more spesific about a song, or at least an era. Besides, the vamp can't make a good sp sound alone. However, you can make something similar to the SD era sound by using the Fuzz setting, and the gish era shouldn't be too hard. Keep in mind the fact that the songs are very processed, meaning that for instance Zero has a lot of guitar overdubs, including two 12-string acoustic guitars (!)

Just fukk around with the vamp, if you know what you're looking for, you'll soon find out whether the vamp can do it or not.

it's a Polish site and there are a lot of schems. This schem is not exacly the same as mt2 is but much close to oryginal. If you have better schem please send it to me.

old Hofner guitar

I have an old Hofner acoustic guitar with the ROUND hole up above where you strum the strings. Inside, there is a lable that says, Hofner Anno, 265v. On the neck, it also says it is a genuine Hofner made in Germany. I was wondering how much it may be worth as I may sell it.

get a chord book and learn the basic chords, starting with the most common chords, Major (sounds happy) and Minor (sounds sad). then check out a tab site on net eg guitaretab.com and you'll find chord patterns to millions of songs. what kind music do you want to play? if u r a beginner, i recommend Dire Straits "Sultans of swing" chord pattern, or Neil young's "Driveby", both are quite easy.

guitar setup

I have been told that you should get your guitar set up 2 times a year. I live in Michigan where the weather changes drasticly between seasons. Could someone please help me with question.

Why not every month? If I could get people to belive that, I could get rich of just "setups" alone!!
Once a guitar is setup, its ready to go.... only difference is when you change string guages/drastic tuning, or install new parts ( tremolo ect.)

so, you're saying weather changes have no effect on guitars (wood)? I have a nice natural finish Warwick. I also live in the Midwest. it goes from -0 no humidity to 99 with 75% humidity in 6 months. you're saying once a guitar is setup it'll be fine through that?

No.Once a year is fine.It really depends on the guitar.
The key is to put it back in the case when you're not using it! Going from heavier to lighter strings(or vise versa)will also require a setup.

Just take a little time to learn how to setup it up yourself, and then if you feel something has changed and it needs to be adjusted... just do it.
