If you're just looking to replace them, then just about any aftermarket part will do.... Dimarzio, Allparts, W-D, Stewart MacDonald, etc. Just make SURE you get one that has the right splines for your pots. American pots have different spline sizes than import pots.

I played one last spring. It was noticably a Gibson. That is to say it was heavy, with low action and a grindy tone. It didn't seem like the pick-ups would need to be replaced (depends what you're playing) like many on many other Gibsons.

If you want the real think buy the Les Paul. However, there are some good alternatives: Paul Reed Smith, Heritage, Etc. All off these guitars are also expensive. But be prepared to spend you won't get that kind of quality for low $$$.

If the guitar body is very similar to a Stratocaster then I would say you probably have a Peavey Raptor.

I have heard US models are the best followed by the Japan models but that doesn't tell me much.

I am not trying to sell it - so honest answers only please.

Hi Steve got the same question really , but just to give you an indication on price, as I've just bought a
86/87 strat (made in Japan)I/ve just paid 190.00 pounds
now the shop only just got hold of it hours before I turned up and hadn't fixed a price,but I'd bought one in the actual time of 86/87 from same shop for 159.00

string bending problem

When I release a string after a bend, i get a lot of noise from adjacent strings (particularly when using overdrive)
I'm sure this is due to poor technique.
Can anybody suggest some excercises to help fix this problem.
I have spent a long time attempting to improve my bending technique to no avail

I suspect you need to work on a few things. My first guess would be string muting, which we do both at the bridge as well as on the finger board.
The next would be pick attack -- the way you hold your pick, the angle of attack on the strings, and where you rest your picking hand.

Try hitting one bent note at a time, release it (add a bit of vibrato and let it ring a bit), and move around from alternate strings and to different positions
on the neck. Do this slowly at first, and then pick up the pace each time you practice, Pay close attention to what your other fingers are doing at this time, as well as
your pick attack angle. In time, you will improve and you'll also see where the problems come from, and what you need to work on most.

Good technique will develop, but it can be hard to break bad habits that we develop early on, so this type of excercise can help -- in fact,
I've been playing for 37 years, and still practice a lot of these things to stay sharp.

Howdy. I'm getting a Tele '52 copy that's got the same design specs as the original but has cheap pickups. I want to replace the bridge P/U with a good one, probably a Fender or Seymour Duncan, but I don't know how a righty pickup will fit, and if it will fit, I don't know how it'll respond (if the magnets are lined up for a righty). Any insights out there? Thanks, Dennis

Can anyone help me? This is the first time I've thought of using the net for help with this. I had a stroke 11 years ago and recovered a bit. I can still play a little guitar but not a lot and not lead. (I've been playing in a band for 2 years now.) Has anyone got any ideas for holding picks or playing styles? I can't hang on to a pick for long cause I don't have the coordination and I sweat like a black alsation. Any ideas?

Peavey amp cutting out

I have a 'peavey basic 40' bass amp and it cuts out during use. the only way to get it working is to move the Pre-gain knob to full which brings it back to life and then it works fine.it cuts out at any volume with any setting and when the amp is hot or cold.

ive taken the amp apart to look for loose connections but couldnt see any.is there any way to fix it?

did you check the connection the the loud speaker?
thats where it is subjected to the most vibrations..I had a shitty dean amrkley 40 watt amp thats cut out and then i noticed the wired that connect to the speaker were coming loose...
