I own a BC RIch Warlock and i installed two emg81's into it and it sounds awesome and it looks awesome. If you want; to play metal and i believe u do or else why would u bother with a bc rich then don't get an ibanez they r really shit for metal. Or at least their pickups are. If i was u i would get a jackson if you can afford that much.

I use Ernie Balls and they are pretty good strings. They are not vintage tone just normal strings but they are pretty good.

Noise While Recording

I have a Digitech 2120 and I am reording into a computer based track recorder called Sound Forge. I am using a line-in into my computer not my microphone-in. My drums, acoustic (also played on the 2120), bass and vocals done excellent(demo level). My problem is while I am recording distortion for an intro or lead I am getting noise from my processor. I have tried the noise gate, but when I get the threshhold about 48-50 the noise is not only gone, but my sustain also.

You can tweak the noise out with the sound card cap and a window. Emale me for the fine tuning problems and Q U R A.

May sound stupid, but back off from the monitor or better still turn it off whilst recording! Failing that, record clean and use some pluggins like Amplitude!

Hi. I've been teaching myself how to play the guitar for the past few weeks, and then realized half the songs im trying to play require a capo. What exactly does a capo do and do you have to play notes differently with one? Thanks!!!

A capo is simply a movable bar that attaches to the fret boad of a stringed instrument. Moving it up or down raises or lowers the pitch of all the strings. Chords are fingered the same way but come out in a different key than they would be without the capo....

Also capo matches the keys of the guitars to the tones of your vocal chords also too. Also metal capos are better than plastic, plastic gobbles up vintage tone.

tone pots

I want to replace the crappy volumn/tone potentiometers on my Epiphone Alleykat with genuine Gibson pots. What is the difference in the 500K OHM and the 300K OHM pots? How do I know which ones to install? What's the diffeence in sound between the two?

I would use the same value pots (probally 500k cuz it has humbuckers, but not sure about the mini value as I've never had one) installed, just look on the back of em for the value, and you can get percision pots from digikey and places like that, they are rated better than the gibson post and about 1/3 the price. You can add/replace caps on each of the tone controls to modify the frequency response curve, I find this a better way to customize the freq. response than just changing the pot value.

I have a question. I am a beginner electric guitar player and recently heard a real catchy tune (or guitar lick to be specific) being played on nearly all the local radio stations. It is a commercial advertising "BP Amoco Gas" and is receiving major nationwide playtime coverage. There is a part of this commercial that is hosted by a male voice endorsing the use of BP Amoco Premium gasoline for performance automotive usage. And after he says "Performance" there is this really cool electric guitar lick with lots of overdrive from the amp. that starts playing, like an introduction at the beginning of a song, and then it just quits. I would like to know what the guitar chords & notes are so I can take them to my teacher or friends and let them show me how to play this. I do not have a recording, and I have searched the Internet for an MP3 or some kind of information regarding this commercial and have come up with nothing. Surely someone knows something about this catchy little guitar lick. As I said, it is really cool sounding, at least from a beginner's perspective.

I don't know the commerical, but I've gotten commerical lines by contacting the station and asking for the air times and then recording them, also try contacting BP, they might tell you who produced it and then ask that house, as a last resort just do blind recording and scan the tapes.

i too have seen the BP gas commercial and im also interested in findin out how to play it.I almost recognized the tune from somewhere but im just not quite sure from what song or place ive heard it before.I would really appreciate it if some one could either e-mail me about this or if they figured out how to accurately play it, post it on some website.Im also a beginner and am eager to learn anything i can.ANy help given on this matter is greatly appreciated.Thanks.God Bless

try your mic (2 if possible) about a foot away from the guitar, pointing at the last few frets (forward of the sound hole) if you go to close and point at the sound hole, you might get a boomy bass sound. love Bob XXXX. ps. you........!!!
