I have a Dimarzio x2n and a hybrid Dimarzio quadrail in my guitar. The situation is that I've never really turned them up that loud until the other day (my apartment is full of old people who can't handle noise) I have a hum comming from all three positions on the selector switch. If I turn down the gain or the volume at the guitar it lessens. I'm wondering if Dimarzio high output humbuckers are naturally a little noisy or what the deal could be. Thanks

I dought it`s the pickup prob, wiring most likly ground even if looks good check it`s contitnudeity hey I just found a new way to spell that word wrong . It`s a humbucker should have small amount of noise check the wiring carfully and go from there.As always good luck.

Just for s&g I soldered one of the humbuckers directly to the output jack and completely bypassed all the other circuitry. The hum is still prevalent...even more so with high gain. I did the same to a duncan distortion I have laying around and didn't notice quite as much noise. I don't like the noise in the Dimarzio's but I'm wondering if it's inherent to dimarzio humbuckers?

1959 Les Paul Special

I have just refinished my 1958-59 Les Paul Special, Cherry,
Double cutaway. Don't blame me, finish was removed prior to me aquiring guitar some 36 years ago.
I think it is absolutely beautiful. I even left the couple of little dings perfectly intact.
My only question is that my Les Paul seems to be a screw up-by Gibson. The selector switch is way back behind the bridge not below it,,,, Above the Vol/Tone controls not in front of them.
If ANYONE has or has seen a guitar like this, please contact me,,,,

Floyd Rose Locking System

I have an old one from an 80's or 90's Washburn. I know for sure I have the floyd trem, the claw, and the locking nut, but I think I'm missing a screw from the locking nut and the springs. On a scale of 1-10 I'd rate it's condition about 5. Let me know if you want it.

Modes are generally used as an alternative from pentatonics.Depending on the chord structure,you'll hear which modes work best,when combined with pent. scales.There are some good books out there to help you.

what are the major causes of feedback, i have an amp thats pretty new and when i try to use wah and full distortion it gives me major feedback, what can i do?

Hmm.When cranking your amp try turning down the DIST. level on your box.Distortion is VOLUME multiplied anyway.You have AMP volume,Pedal volume and Distortion level,that's way too much volume.In my opinion,the test of a good Dist. box is at low dist. levels.

What kind of guitar do you have? Hollow, Solid are the pickups any good? Hollow body will feedback more than a solid body. Cheap pickups will cause this also.

I have a '60s or '70s Electric Guitar that I bought at a garage sale. The person I bought it from said it is a Montgomery Wards guitar that was made by VOX. Unfortunately the guitar doesn't have any markings or identification on it at all of who the maker was. Can anybody help? Thanks.

guitar amplifier impedance problem

can anyone please help me? I have a marshall head and I want to run it into a mesa cab and a marshall cab simultaneously. Howver, the cabs are of a different impedence (mesa=8ohms) (marshall=16ohms) What should the marshall head be set to, in order to run these cabs at the same time? Any help anyone can give me is most welcome, Best wishes, Ross

What is the ohm rating on the head? And are there two speaker outs? Or are you running the cabs in series?

you can set the amp to 4,8,or 16ohms and there are 2 speaker outs, both of which will be used, any ideas?

I would set the the amp at 4 ohms. Rewire the 16 ohm cabinet to 8 ohms. And plug both cabinets in separately. The amp should make them run parallel and the total ohm load will be 4 ohms, unless it happens to be a stereo head or each out happens to be a separate channel. Let me know if you need any more help.

I've been looking for either of the above old guitars for quite a while now, but when I see one, something always goes against me and I don't get it.
My dad has an fg300 in poor condition, but he's restoring it soon.
I'm in N. Ireland, so they're scarce over here.
I have the cash waiting for the right guitar.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a FG295s which is real similiar to the fg300. Exact same pickguard. Same headstock, bound neck , body, headstock, solid spruce top and more rare than the fg300. $350.

I also have a Yamaha FG295s which I bought in Belfast in 1980. I'm thinking of selling it. Anyboby got any idea of how much I sought ask for it? It's in great condition.
