Total newbie - buzzing from new purchase

Hey all! I just decided to take up a new hobby - electric guitar! I headed off to the local music store and bought myself an amp and a Cort. The guy cut me a fairly good deal (I think) and I can't wait to get started. Just had to post to someone who would understand. Thanks!

Morris ES-175 copy

I've just bought an early 70s Morris ES-175 (Gibson) copy. I need information about this guitar, and would appreciate any help. It is a great guitar, built in Japan. It reads Morris Gakki Co on the headstock.

1952 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop

I have a 1952 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop - fair condition - anyone know what value I can put on this.

Re: 1952 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop

This isn't a site for appraisals, hell most people that post here probally don't even know what you are talking about... there are 100's (probally 1000's) of sites for appraisails, try one of them or any music store.

What should i do

Hey,
My name is Emily and im 12. I have always played sports but for the past year I've been really interested in music such as rock, or hip-hop, and pretty much all fast music. I dont want to give up my sports but me and my best friend have been wanting to start up a teen rock band. She already has a guitar but i dont. So i wanted a guitar that looks cool and is easy to learn on by yourself and w/ out any lessons, that way i dont have to give up sports. I'm not sure what kind of guitar i should buy. I was thinking of a electric guitar because i thought that they looked awesome and that i dont want a guitar that looks do countryish. So if anyone has any commens please help.

Thanks alot,
Emily

Re: What should i do

My first guitar was a Yamaha RGX121S -- awesome guitar for rock music. Inexpensive, great bang for buck. I'm still using it.

I need help

Hi,
I am Emily and I am 13. I dont know what kind of guitar I should buy. I love to play volleyball, and basketball, and track. Lately, I've been really intersested in rock music and alot of other fast music. I want a guitar that would be easy to learn to play w/out lessons, just on my own. Also, I need a guitar to play in my free time thats easy because I still want to play my sports. I was thinking of a electric guitar because they look cool, but I dont know anything about them. What is the best kind of guitar for me? I dont want one that look to countryish, I would like one that looks like one that someone in a teen rock band would play because me and my best friend want to start a band. She already has a guitar but I dont. So all comments would help so please do what you can to help me out.

Thanks,
Emily

Re: I need help

I would recomend a Fender Squire. They are a great guitar for a beginner, and are only around $150. You can get a pack with and amp, chord, bag, tuner, book, and strings in addition to the guitar. It is only around $279. After you get good enough, you could consider a Mexican made Fender Strat. Both guitars look awsome and play great in any band.

Re: I need help

I think the Yamaha Pacifica is a very versatile and easy to play guitar. It sounds like rock, and I've never felt a more comfortable guitar under 1000 euro's. And the pacifica costs only 200.
I got one myself and I use it for all styles, from funk to bluegrass via death metal.

Send your guitar's serial number to info@larrivee.com and we will get back to you with the date of manufacture.

then check the site www.larrivee.com for model and price.

PS. that guitar must sound amazing. I have an OM-05 but its only 1993.

Best String to use on an Ovation Acoustic/Electric Guitar

If you are going to use it for playing live, I used to put light gauge ELECTRIC strings on. Maybe Dean Markleys or the like. It makes it extreamly to play for a long time and you can make up for lost tone through EQing. If you are just going to use it for around the house, I suggest CF Martin Sulpher Bronze lights.

Hope that helps.

Fender 21st Century American Standard Strat

My son would like to buy a "collector's item" from me. It a Fender American Standard Strat, with certificate that it was of the first 100 guitars manufactured in the "new millennium." It has a transparent blond finish over a solid ash body, chrome hardware, and a Floyd Rose.

A friend of mine, professional guitarist in Nashville for many years, said it has the finest action he's ever seen on an electric guitar.

How would my son and I go about determining a fair market value for this?

Oh, he's 32 years old, has lots of money, so I'm not giving it away.

Re: Fender 21st Century American Standard Strat

$900, assuming u live in the States
