Roy Smeck guitar

I have recently inherited a 1960 electric hollowbody guitar and I am trying to find out the value. It is a "Roy Smeck" guitar, and the only numbers I can find inside it are 165H58. It is in perfect condition. I can't seem to find any info on it any where so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I had an R.S. blonde, hollow body, double pickup in 64-65. I found that it was made by Harmony. The Blue Book of Guitars seems to lend credit to this. They don't appear to be "collectables" at this time. But I wish that I still had mine. I got $52.00 trade in on a Gretsch 6120(64). Do you have a picture? Sorry I can't give you any info on the #'s inside your guitar. Makes you wonder about that "H",doesn't it? We know it's hollow. Good luck and good health to you, Douglas

Freaky chanel/input problem

this is so freaky. I run sound tech at a youth group. Well recently we had a problem with ur drum channel. It seems while another peson in there was tweaking the Eqs and whatnot, She heard speaking. It turns out that somehow an AM radio signal got in through what we think might be an input box or whateve you call it. We got Drums on another channel now. Its A Digital Drum set, seeing as its a tiny room. So does anyone know what the heck happened?

bad cable.

You probably have a bad cable, or channel from your snake to the board. If the shielding is damaged, you'll pick up radio interference, as it's then basically acting as an antenna.

I have found that if I start a tiny wood screw directly in the center of the peg where it's broken off, then I can tighten it down far enough so it's solid in the peg. Then I just VERY carefully get under the head of the screw with some needle-nose pliers, and pull the peg straight up out of the hole. I always use some cardboard or thick paper on the bridge to protect it from scratches. Hope that helps.

Uh, sorry...I thought you broke the head off. If it's not broken, it's really easy to get off. You just have to be careful. Use some pliers, cutters, or channel locks. The key is NOT twisting, and pulling straight up. Sometimes you can use the bridge (with protection) for leveradge to get it started. Just do it a little bit at a time.

If the head is still in you can also simple take a small (#1) flathead screw driver and CAREFULLY place the tip under the head while resting part of the shaft on an adjacent peghead as a fulcrum to lever it out.
I have a 12 string that I've had for 8 years that constantly gets the pegs stuck and have used this simple technique to remove stuck pegs more times than I care to think about and haven't scratched it once. It may sort of crush the plastic lip of the peg itself; but they are still usable, and if you were to break one very cheap to replace.

guitar pegs

use a pair of fucking plyers and yank on that bitch like it owes you some money

sounding like steve vai

how do you get your rig to sound like vai, using an ibanez jem , marshal avt 275 and a boss gt6 any sugestions will be welcome

well........

Vai uses Carvin amps, and Lexicon gear, mostly. The key to getting that kind of tone is to lower your gain a bit, and use a GOOD compressor and squash the heck out of the signal. High gain destroys the clarity of the notes, but by lowering your gain a few notches, then boosting the midrange, dropping the lows a bit, and using a dbx compressor (or similar high quality compression unit), you get the sustain that everybody thinks is super high gain. A tiny bit of reverb, or a short doubling delay will help a bit for the solo tones.

Vai sound....

: Yes Vai uses Carvin amps the signature Legacy model. Last time I saw him, he had a TC Electronics "G-Force"(rack mount unit secured atop one of his heads). With a Bad Horsie wah and I think 2 other pedals on the floor...can't remember them.

PL

Re: sounding like steve vai

Oh yeah...he also uses a Fernandes Sustainer pickup in his JEM, or some of them....although not used in a real heavy way, it gives that extra sustain even at clean settings. I have a sustainer sys in my Ibanez RG 550...works gr8 in the right situations.
