Has anyone any information on this guitar ? What wood it is made of? I was told it is an early 1970'2 ( 72 - 73 )
Very nice looking acoustic jumbo body

Did you by any chance mean ElDorado? Single, round cutaway hollow style. Arched spruce top with F holes & raised pickguard? Maple back/sides/neck. Adjustable ebony bridge, gold G trapeze tailpiece & 3 per side gold tuners. Natural and Sunburst mfd 1955 to 1970. 1968 - 70's were Sunburst only. Nice guitar.

Take care. strat Man Dwight

Re: Fender Mod

Well i am not buying the pickup you see, i am buying an new guitar and replacing the bridge pickup then usin what i took out of the new guitar.
So you think i should buy a new pick guard?
Will changing all the pots and switches over bee smooth?
I guess it would but just want to check.

Re: HOW DO YOU CHANGE STRINGS ON AN ELECTRIC????

: I recently got a used Gibson LS Studio and want to change to new strings. I'm not totally clueless, I've played acoustic guitar for 3 yrs, so I know how to thread the tuners but I have no idea about the bridge, can someone tell me what to do. thanks

Response: Yes, changing over all of the pots, switches and any existing pickups to a new pickguard can be done without desoldering, or taking apart anything.

Also gives you a good chance to insulate the guitar by sticking tin foil or aluminum tape to the guard, and trimming it with something like an X-acto knife so that it's not showing. Higher price guards may already be insulated.

Check that the screwholes on the new guard for mounting to the guitar's body match the holes in the wood, unless you don't mind making a few new ones.

When I put the knobs on the pot shafts ... if for some reason they have to come off & be repositioned, I use something like a credit card to pry them up, while rotating them. Don't want to see you damage a new pickguard.

All the best. Andrew

Re: ibanez with a floating floyd rose and the make #9201075

well i finally just got your pictures to work and first off, it isnt a floating tremolo system, its a double locking floyd rose that comes standard on quite a few LTD by ESP's, in fact its the only system they use on solidbody electrics, its probably the most standard and best for the money, not too many other trems, let me refraise, NO other trem is as good as a floyd, even custom guitars use them all the time, have a nice day, thats just info on the trem, thats gunna be hard though cause even the best ibanez guitars with a trem use floyds. Ventura was another name for Ibanez - so effectively, you have an Ibanez guitar! I have had a Dan Armstrong (see through) replica by Ventura and a friend of mine has had an SG replica from Ventura. Not bad stuff.

Confession is always good for the soul. If you are not satisfied with the direction of your life and are morally challenged, there are many other websites where others are dealing with the same problems. They are found under many of the key words which you use.

Personally, I think that tutus are getting excessively pricey anyhow (I need many in my line of work), along with the the standard habits and french maid costumes. Perhaps you could help people with their wardrobe issues. This is about music and gear, by the way.

Brother, we love you and forgive you. It is important that you forgive yourself too. Sis "C" & the band

: » Beyond «Pitch-to-MIDI» Conversion

: Unlike conventional so-called «Pitch-to-MIDI» converters, Digital Ear
: will send high-resolution pitch events closely matching that of your

: » Pitch is Only the Beginning...

: A unique capability of Digital Ear not found elsewhere, is that it can

Re: Rack Power Amps Preamps

: I agree with Andrew here. The Marshall's are muddy sounding and sometimes sound like the speakers are cracked or ratted out. I have a Crate GFX 65 with FlexWave Evolution 5 Tube Simulation lined in to a Marshall 8008 Valvestate Stereo (80 watts per side) rack mount power amp. The Marshall is mounted in a 4 x 10 cab that I custom built with Celestion speakers. I also have a 12 inch Carvin British Series (100 watt) extension speaker cab that I built. This gives a me total of 225 watts of power and the combination is unbelievable. I have about $700.00 in all of it and can walk all over my two friends full stack Marshall's. They both have JCM 2000 TSL's costing over three times what I've spent and neither of them can achieve the clean tone, distortion or sustain I get.

YNGWIE strat.

i have a 2000 yngwie strat--it doesnt say where it was made on the guitar---how can i tell ????

Re: I need advice on good recording software

: well, best bang for the buck would be soundforge vegas pro, it's at least reliable with recording on the fly to the hard drive. I do work for capcom and sony, never had a problem with demos for games, as for your computer, make sure you are y2k ready, meaning, windows 98 with all the servicepacks downloaded from microsoft or you won't be able to use your new software. The best hardware to use is a Pentium II or III with 128 or higher ram and a genuine intel chipset on the motherboard, also use a udma/66 hard drive with the udma/66 interface card on the machine, hardware is relatively cheap so this should'nt be too painful, good luck.......

new electric guitar

[The body of this post has been lost]

Re: new electric guitar

a set neck is a glued in neck, there is a pocket cut into the bodie of the guitar and then the neck is glued in like a tennon joint, 99% of all gibson guitars use this method, the other option is a bolt on neck, istead of using a permanent glue they bolt the neck in using screws, 99% of fenders use this option, which is the best?? it all depends on your ear, some people say set necks give more sustain, although gibson mainly use mahogany (better suited to glue) for their necks, and fender mainly use maple (better suited to screw in). the set neck option tends to be more expensive, bolt on cheaper.
bolt on necks you can change about, they are genrally quite cheap to buy, bolt on maple necks are extremely strong, set neck mahogany are quite fragile, check out Pete Townshend, one swing of a Rickenbacker 330 (set neck mahogany) would produce electrifying results! one hit and its in a hundred peices, unlike the Fender Strats he used to try and smash up, you could often count 5 or 6 hard swings before even the first string broke!.
so there you have it, if you prefer a rock sustain gibson type sound, then go for a set neck guitar, if you like the cutting blues tone of a fender, then go for the bolt on neck.
everyone still awake??

From the Strat House: Actually I was asleep. Building a 3 humbucker Strat and it is just smoking my brains with all the coil splits, phasing pickups with themselves, and others etc. But I got the neck "bolted on" no prob. Good answer Lee.

I did just put up a retrofit SUSTAINIAC system on ebay.
Today is the 11.1.00

Re: Sustainer

: The original design on which the Fernandes unit is based comes from Maniac Music of Indianapolis. They make two models of their Sustainiac unit: the Model B, a heavy-duty stomp box that vibrates a metal plate you attach to the headstock, and a new compact Stealth model that can be installed in a humbucker cavity with an advanced pickup (Stealth's base price is about $200). They do have a Web site.

I have aquired a Gibson Kalamazoo and can't find out too much about it. I understand that George Harrison had one.
If anyone can give me a clue on how much it mught be worth, if anything, it would be great.
The serial number 1196 is stamped into the back of the head as is "made in the USA"

Response: With that serial number being the best clue, I assume that it's ink stamped, you may have a Les Paul Kalamazoo commissioned by Gibson in 1979 only, with 1959 features PLUS "Les Paul KM" engraved on truss rod covers, and cream coloured, covered pickups.

This was Gibson's first nationally distributed flametop re-issue.

Early examples included a metal plate with engraved "Custom Made" logo just below the tailpiece. approx 1500 of this model were made at Gibson's Kalamazoo plant.

I do not know about George Harrison having one but it sounds good. Anyone else?

Re: Kalamazoo

Never heard of a Kalamazoo model, kalamazoo is where the first gibson factory was located, some of the best guitars came out of that factory, im a bit sketchy with my gibson history, but didnt they move out of their and leave the sister company Epiphone to use it? a lot of the original guitar makers stayed and again they made some fantastic guitars under the epihone banner, then Epi's went out to Korea, and i think Heritage guitars took it over, and they have it still, and there are some original gibson workers still there. did i get any of that wrong??
anyway, ive not heard of the kalamazoo model, your serial number points towards a 1902 model.
