Hi,
I'm planing to sell my Japanes made (1994) Standard Model Fender Stratocaster and a 80 Watt Dean Markley Amp model RM-80-DR with a Magnum speaker. The guitarr is cream white and white and is in very good condition. The amp has some external scrathes.

What should I more or less expect to sell this equipment for?

For the package, I'd say around $300 on the low end and (if someone would pay it) $500 on the high end.

Possible answer - I may get shot down on this one, but here's what I think. In your area, you would certainly have the expertise available, and the technicians. But, even in England, there may be a lack of parts to hot rod a Marshall.

I would refer you and any possible naysayers to where the parts and technology exist, but not for solid state or hybrid (valvestate, transtube etc.) amps. In my opinion, the authoritative engineer on this subject is Dan Torres at www.torresengineering.com. Visit the site. Select kits for tube amps then proceed to "why isn't my amp listed here?" Amps that are not compatible with hotroddding, such as yours I'm afraid, are mentioned. For more detail, Mr. Torres would have in his archives MUCH more research, material and perhaps a publication of his own that you could request.

Charvel guitar serial number

I am looking at a guitar and I cannot find any information on the serial number. I would like to know any details and approximate worth, in good condition.

On the neck plate the serial number is 351003.

It looks like a San Dimas model, strat type body with pointy headstock, with Charvel in big letters on the headstock.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Well, without knowing any other details about the guitar (American, Mexican, or possibly Japanese, the condition it is in, etc...), I would say anywhere from $250-$600 possibly. I know that is a pretty wide range but without additional info. it's difficult to be more exact. I hope this helps.

Hi. I am using a Mexican Strat with new installed Silver Lace pickups. They sound bad, loud and distorted.
I like my old magnet ones better and was told they were not as good as American. Was this installed wrong, it was checked up and TBX part added or are they no good? Enjoyed reading your music subjects. Thanks. Alena

Response: You can explain your concerns on the forum at www.agi-lace.com. That is the manufacturer Actodyne General Inc in Huntington Beach, CA.

Some people say that the moderator can be irritable or ill-tempered. You MUST state the issues very clearly and precisely.

I have all types of Lace Sensor Pickups. Every colour and strength and sound. Don't like them either. I'll be specific at www.harmonycentral.com someday. There are ideas & reviews from other users there under pickups. But you don't ask questions, it is not interactive.

It is true that the ceramic pickups that are standard on the majority of Fender electric guitars from Mexico are not considered as good as those made in the USA, by many of the informed players and people in the business. But ... they cost less!

Try to trade in or sell the laces and get an EMG set-up. (pref. DG 20) They come pre-mounted in a beautiful pick-guard and are very easy to install. They are probably the most noise free versatile single coil style pick-ups avail. A bit costly but if you can swing it you will be very happy with your tones.

Have you solved your problem yet? I'm throwing out my lace sensors and have ordered new custom handwound pickups from ElectroKraft, info available with reviews on www.harmonycentral.com. I will go there some time to review the old lace sensors which did not sound good to me either. I had looked for info at www.agi-lace.com and was not pleased with the lace sensor manufacturer's moderator or info. My opinion. Strat Man Dwight

funky weird nylon strings. Not ball end or bullet end at all. NO END!!

I have a nylon string acoustic for some school mirimba band and I need to string it left handed and the teacher guy baught some funky(in a bad way strings) their not ball end, bullet end or anything end. Im spose to tie them on some sort of way at the bridge, but I dont know how. please, for the love of Buddha, help me!

The strings are not supposed to have ball or bullet ends. Classical guitar strings (nylon strings) are supposed to be tied on. Go to the following webpage to learn how:

I am 20yrs old. Have been playing for 8yrs now. I have excellent equipment and reliable transportation. I have been through so many bands the past few years and they all end the same, people lose their motivation and fall apart. I am a serious musician, I know I am very creative as well as focused on what I want out of music. I also play the Djembe and synth keyboard. I am so serious in fact, I am willing to relocate for a promising project. My influences are: King Crimson, Genesis, Opeth, Radiohead, Dead Can Dance, Lesiem, and much more. Hi there !!

well there are not many guitars that come with scalloped fretboards right from their manufacturers, but the Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Strat !! I couldn´t believe it myself but it really does enhance playing !! I´d like to have my Clapton Strat Neck scalloped but it´s way too expensive to me right now !! And I still hestitate cutting into a 1700$ guitar !! but who knows . . .

as a learner i would suggest a nylon strung guitar, the strinds are easier on the fingers, and the neck and string spacings are quite wide, but if you must have an electric i would go for a Epiphone G310, they dont cost a lot of money, around $200, but the choice in epiphones is vast around that price range, why epiphone? they have very good starter setups, they dont need any adjusting, the sound and playing quaity on an epiphone in the $200-$300 is very good, when you get bored of it, you will get back good money for it (just dont buy on in a silly colour) it will always look good in years to come, and if you decide to upgrade some of the hardware you will have a very very good guitar, amp wise i would go for a transistor 15 watt marshall, i think they are called the MD15 or something. amp will cost around $150.
