Moderator .... PLEASE!!!
Dear moderator and friends, I have replied to some of the questions here where I am fortunate to have worked for my experience, or have access to written materials and data, taken time, researched the issues and I hope to have helped my fellow musicians appropriately, as I appreciate their help too. But my comments have been held for moderator's approval half of the time; they have not shown up on the site, while others by me are definitely here, together with much more recent ones that we can not gain from in the event that they are from pranksters or less serious individuals. It kind of concerns me to see some of the less serious stuff, when it might not be of any validity or edification to site members who have legitimate issues and good intentions, in the spirit of this forum.

Re: Has anyone played the new Fender stratocoustic or telecoustic?
: I've only seen the stratacoustic and telecoustic in Musicians Friend. They look cool, but I can't find any dealers that have them or anyone who has played one. If you have, please e-mail me and tell me what's up. Where are they made? How's the sound acoustic, electric? Are they well built? Just give me your buyers oppinion.
: Thanks

Dude, I want a Stratacoustic too, and it seems that Musicians Friend has the best price so
far. I live in Hawaii and none of the dealers here have any stratacoustics in stock. While
searching for Stratacoustic on the web I found your question, and also a guy who has and
plays one. He is only learning how to play though so I don't know how valuable his input
would be. Check him out at http://angelfire.lycos.com/ga/coolben

Re: Has anyone played the new Fender stratocoustic or telecoustic?
Ok, here is the deal:
I tried musicians friend because of their paymente easiness. Wrong call. For $249 I got a broken instrument all cracked and with missing parts.
I couldn't believe they sent out and instrument without ANY shipping material to protect (foam bubblewrap etc). I sent it back of course.
Then I went to Sam Ash with my Musician's Friend catalog and they had to match the price. It was great because then I could get the best one they had in stock.
Once I had the Telecoustic at home I had to use a sandpaper to low the bridge (a lot) and I replaced the strings with electric guitar strings (.008)
The guitar now is just great!! Many people came by to see it and all agree that it plays like a $800 + guitar.
So the guitar is definetly worth it. You just need to make a few adjustments and for that price there is not a lot to complain about...
The electric and acoustic sound are very good. definetely not great, but worth the money you pay many times.

Re: I own a Telecoustic..
Hello there. I always wanted an acoustic guitar but I always bought an electric!
I have a Marshall for output and a BOSS ME-8 for effects. I usually play a Squier Stratocaster (two single + one double magnet) or with a Gibson Studio Les Paul.
The feeling from the Telecoustic is not the best unplugged, as it is not very loud on its own. But when this baby goes in an amplifier...WAOO!!
It has GREAT sound. Very clean. The guitar is not at all heavy and I can play very fast on it.
The output of this guitar is very powerfull, through my effects I don't turn the guitar's volume more than 4/10.
A great guitar!
I just bought a Telecoustic
I just bought a Telecoustic from Mars for $249.99. They matched it against the Guitar Center ad where they have the Stratacoustic on sale for the month of March for that price. Otherwise, Mars charges $279.99. Now about the guitar. I highly recommend it. It sounds good and plays great. I love having the acoustic sound with the Tele neck. Amped it sounds great. Unplugged it plays kind of quite, which in my house is a plus, but even quite it stills sounds pretty nice. Another plus is it comes in candy apple red. The Inca Silver they show on the Fender website looks awful when you set it next to its candy apple red sister. A guitar that looks good, sounds good, plays good, and is cheap...I recommend this guitar!! My only complaint is that the salesman at Mars couldn't come up with a hard case for it. I am sure one exists, but he sure couldn't figure out where. I need to contact Fender and see where I will need to go to get one or what specifically I should be asking for.

Depending on when you post your message it can take
anywhere between 15 minutes and 3 days for you post

Provided it is not SPAM and there is nothing illegal

slide guitar
When i try playing the start of lynyrd skynyrd free bird with a slide it sounds wrong and out of tune.
Re: dist pedals
: heya. im gonna get a distortion pedal soon and i wanna know whats hot and whats not. i already got a boss me-30, but it's not gettin the tone i want, nay, NEED.
The Big Muff is very bottom-heavy and turns a Fender Princetonm 65 to Smashing Pumpkins/Hendrix/Zeppelin depending on guitars,setting,etc.$50-60
: the ones on my hitlist are the jackhammer. well that's just one. anyhoo, if anyone gots a good dist pedal they're happy with, please reply.
: oh yeah and im kinda looking for that really heavy korn sound. i hate the music, but i like that kinda dist they use. in fact, i'd say korn taken a few steps futher, but on a 6 string. so yeah, much gain i guess. so anyone got any ideas?

: All boss distortion is great. But if you don't like boss i would try the Ibanez Black Noise. If you want to emulate Korn's sound I would try a BOSS ME-30 effects processor. I've got one and can make people think I'm listening to a Korn CD.

Re: dist pedals
The one you need is the 'boss ds-1' pedal. It's great.
But the Jackhammers is good as well.,
Re: slide guitar
: When i try playing the start of lynyrd skynyrd free bird with a slide it sounds wrong and out of tune.
Another question: is it the tab, the TUNING, or the guitar? What do you think?
You could also ask the remaining Lynyrd Skynyrd survivors through the Freebird Cafe (online) in Jacksonville Fla., or their former buddy, and extraordinary guitar builder and set up master, Ron Kirn, online or in Jacksonville.
Regards, Andrew
Re: slide guitar
i think its the player, playing good slide is an art, looks easy, but it takes years of practice, check out Mick Taylor from the 70's stones, and Elmore James.

Re: the difference of the sound
Can you be a little more specific about what you mean by "sound"? I'm not following your question.
Re: the difference of the sound
I think I got a clue to your problem. You played guitar for a while, and feel you standing still. And maybe asked yourself, why can't I sound like the professionel artist on records,CD's etc. You can do many things to get on. Have you tried to record your playing on tape f.exp. Wait a little while (a day or two) and listining to yourself. You can also try a get a bigger teoretical knowledge and learn and practic scale. Pick some books up on your local libery or simply search on the net. Maybe get a teacher for a while. If you not satisfied be the first, try another one. Borrow or buy some teahing video's. Listen to record and try to figure out how to play riffs (instead of chord or cord as you name them). There are several magasins on the marked about Guitar Playing ex. Guitar Player Magasin. Read about and listen to a classic style inventores. Eddie Van Halen, Steve Vai, Steve Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, The Edge (from U2), the Beatles, even Mozart etc. Listen to and try to learn some different styles: Classical, Pop, funk, Heavy Metal, yes even Country. And LEARN to IMPROVIS.
Try a play your guitar every day, just touch if nessary. Take your instrument with you everywhere you go, Love it and take it with you to sleep. I mean, try too get more feeling in your guitar, fantasies and daydream about it. Let orther people realize thart you are a Guitar player, take it to extrems. Try to play fast, slow & in between, and practies with dissiplin. Try orther creative activities like painting and drawing and realize and feel that you use the same creative skills in playing Guitar too. If you can effort it, you can buy another guitar or instrumt and try out different amplifiers. All in all, invest more time and perpaps money, get involved with ohters players/bands. And after a while you sound will change, just be patient and never give up playing.

any one out there had any experience or first hand knowledge on the "s series- s6+ cw cedar gt QII" model guitar and also a fair price on what it should cost
Re: painting a guitar
: Special paints, delecatly, paint it with an airbrush and your going to have to do more than one coat, be careful with the clearcoating, you need to apply each layer of paint with an extremely thin layer, do about 2 or three, enough to fade the wood and give the paint a tone but not color it completely, clear coating is just the same.
: : I bought a Les Paul guitar kit and I was wondering how would I go about giving it a sunburst type color? The top is a flame maple and I want to show the grain in it but how do I do that?

Answer, my opinion: The Guild Starfire series are just out of this world at around 1800 - 2200 Canadian dollars. I have experienced them, and have stuck with the Bluesbird which is like a chambered Les Paul. I also use "Lucille" which is overrated but well-played by B.B. King and a Washburn ES-335 type. Also, I've heard good things about hollow bodies from Ibanez which are $500 - $800. I checked their website not long ago and found them interesting. It's up to you whether you want fully hollow, or an inner wooden block (maple or mahogany) running right through the guitar, housing the pickups. They have a bit more attack, bite & sustain, but the sound can be adjusted nicely for all styles. Both Guild and Ibanez give the choice of fully hollow or semi-hollow. There's also a new line at Rondo Music, called Agile. I've heard from one player that he is very impressed with his. And Rondo, is a good company to deal with, on internet.
Good luck, Strat Man Dwight

Tell me everything everyone knows about thr Electric Guitar pleez & Thank u
Re: Guitar
: Tell me everything everyone knows about thr Electric Guitar pleez & Thank u
Sure. Some electric guitars last for 3 months and sound terrible, and can't be played. The people who buy them usually think they got a great deal.
Other guitars, like those that the artists are using, can last a lifetime. If you buy one of those, it should be okay. If you ever have to sell it, people are willing to pay you just as much as they would for a crappy guitar, because too many buyers don't know the difference. So, it's wise to get information as you've requested. That's all I know, really.

Re: Guitar
if you lean one against a door and then open the door real quick, it will cause the guitar to fall over and possibly break. thats all i know.
