split pole humbuckers

Looking for an opinion. How would you guys rate, or do you find any difference between split pole and regular straight pole humbuckers? I used to have split poles on my Thinline Teles - they were called wide range; came on Tele Custom's too. They have 3 high poles and 3 low poles (with slots for flat head screwdriver). Lately I have installed a set on an Epiphone Les Paul, and a set on a Gibson Les Paul. I am trying to compare with PAF-style humbuckers to see what the advantage or difference is, if any? Thanx.

Re: split pole humbuckers

My experiences with split pole pickups have not been too good, i had a thinline with those on too, they never realy cut through, they were very rhytym type pickups, to be honest Dwight how mant people do you see playing split poles? i much prefer the PAF types.
