can anyone tell me what sort of set-up Johnny Marr of the Smiths uses to get that nice, jangly Birds-y sound?
thanks!

Re: Johnny Marr guitar sound
Well i'd like to know as much as you but i can offer the following links:
http://arcane.morrissey-solo.com/smiths/interviews/post87/guitar.htm
http://arcane.morrissey-solo.com/smiths/interviews/post87/antihero.htm
They're both interviews with johnny in guitar magazines going through some of the features of his guitar sound. Very interesting, if occasionally heavy going (even for guitar enthusiasts). The main site is a general interview etc. archive for the smiths and morrissey.
Hope that's of some help,
take care,
ekrub
Re: Johnny Marr guitar sound
well.... fender amps deluxe or twin (early stuff was on a roland jazz)
guitars: a lot was with a telecaster, bridge pickup for that lovely bright crisp chimey sound (as in charming man....yes it was a 53 tele) rickenbacker 360/12, he likes strats (63's)
gretch duo jets and les pauls...(as in how soon is now... fantastic recording) bundles of reverb short delay and a touch of chorus (if you 'aint got a twelve string the chorus will give a sim effect)
