Value of a Mexican-made Squier Strat??

Posted by Kevin on Thu, 12/05/02 - 18:57:57.

I bought this guitar brand new in the early 90's (1992 I think) for around $100. A musician friend of mine told me that it's worth far more than that now because they don't make them anymore. I was wondering if anyone on this msg board could confirm that for me, and if so, what is the value? It's practically new, creamy white in color with a rosewood neck (Is that what it's called.. rosewood?). It's a Fender Stratocaster Squier Series, made in Mexico, serial number MN544693. I may sell it depending on what I find it to be worth. Also, do these guitars gain value over time?

There are a couple pictures at the following urls:

Thanks!
Kevin

Kevin, your Strat's a 95 from the serial # you provided. I'm sorry to tell you it's still only worth around $100. Scott

Thanks Scott.. I posted this question elsewhere and got the same response. Darn. I thought I might be sitting on something of value. Ah well, thanks for the info though! At least I know the year now :)
