The people in Japan are not as stupid as the people in the USA and won't buy crap so Fender has guitars "Crafted in Japan" made just for the Japan market and are great quality... Fender also has the usual crap made that is "made in Japan" for shippment and sales back in the good ol USA... The crafted one is as good as any custom shop Fender made here in the USA...

The export/import story (made in japan vs crafted in japan) is nonsense. It's just a marketing switch. If "crafted" is synonymous with "quality", why are Squiers "Crafted in China" and not "Made in China"? "Crafted" has a connotation of artistry whereas "Made" sounds like something stamped on the back of a steel engine block.
