Hey all, i think im gonna buy a used SG std. What would u say is the best year or time period that it was made. I kno quality is a little low now, but i was told mid to early 90s was really good. Any specific years would be great! Thanks..

90's are very good, they used some odd configurations of wood on some of the 70's ones, 3 peice maple necks etc, the 60's are too expensive, get a 90-98 model.

thats good, i think people genraly have problems with the latest SG's, like the 'faded special' a '99 will be a good choice, but of course the proof is in the playing, i have a friend who had a mid 70's one, it has multi peice body, three peice neck, it still sounds fantastic, something about thos SG's. you wont be sorry for investing in one.
