Does anyone know anything about Memphis branded guitars and basses from the late 70’s? I know that the current ones bearing the Memphis name are cheap third-world planks…But I just purchased an obviously old and well played Precision clone and it’s an excellent guitar! Typical 70’s appointments (Blonde finish, white pickguard, maple neck W/ correct headstock shape) It has a Memphis logo with a swoopy, stylized "M" that looks to be silkscreened onto the wood and sprayed over. Aside from the neck which is laminated from three seperate pieces of wood instead of one piece, this is a dead knockoff of a 70’s Fender…even nails the tone pretty well. Who made this guitar??? Ibanez? Aria?
